Brushy Creek COE, Jefferson, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for the July 4 weekend. Park was not kept up like in previous years. Granted water level had been 12 ft. above normal as recently as a month earlier. NO grass had been mowed in awhile. Cigarette butts everywhere in our site. Fire pit wasn't clean. One thing we did notice was there were no summer maintenance volunteers as previous outings here, only the two men at the entrance gate. We will stay here again but wasn't real satisfied with the condition of the park considering it's a COE and maintained by our government. Duh, there's the problem!! We camped at Brushy Creek COE in a Travel Trailer.

J.B.'s RV Park & Campground, Benton, Arkansas

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

If you are wanting a safe, secure and quiet site for an overnight stop after a long day of driving, this is the stop. The place is a trailer park about 1/2 mile off the interstate. The owner is super friendly and helpful. RV sites are close to his house up front of the long term people. If you are looking for a super duper 1st class campground then move on down the road cause this ain't it. It's perfect for a great night of peaceful sleep while traveling. We camped at J.B.'s RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

If you are wanting a nice place to eat all but one restaurants are 10 miles away in either direction. There is a truck stop cafe across the highway. We ate there. Nothing to write home about. The food was okay. Typical truck stop fare. Will help lubricate your arthritic joints if you know what I mean? Fried and greasy, like us folks 60 and older grew up on. I wanted to eat in the trailer but wife ain't a cheese and cracker person.

Yankie's RV Park, Clarendon, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small park on the east end of town at the city limits right beside the highway, so it's a little noisy if you open the windows otherwise the a/c drowns out most of it. Only 10 sites but all are level concrete with gravel driveway. Pull in at the drive the driveway on Thurman street or you may drag bottom on the drive closest to the small house. This is a great spot for overnight, it's clean, well kept, well lighted. There are only 10 spots with full hookups but the night we stayed only 2 others were there. The lady who owns the place is very friendly and even checked on us the next morning after a small thunderstorm came through during the night. Being only 70 miles from Amarillo most folks pass this by but it's a great place to stop on your way to Colorado or on the return from like places. Especially if you don't want the hustle and bustle of the city. I've stayed in Amarillo campgrounds several times and they aren't any quieter. True, this place has few amenities such as pool, laundry, etc. but you're not paying a lot either. I highly recommend it for an overnight stay for rest and then you can pull out and face Amarillo rested on the way through. I'll most definitely stop here again. We camped at Yankie's RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

High Plains Camping, Oakley, Kansas

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Wife and I stopped here for one night on our return to east Texas. The park is very clean with good level sites, all gravel. Great cable reception. Large clean showers and restrooms, hot tub, pool, mini golf. Great view for someone who's lived where you can only see sky by looking up all his life. You can see forever in all directions here. A clear starry night would be beautiful. I'll definitely stop here again if I'm ever close. Wouldn't want to live in this area but an overnight stay is fine. We arrived at 7:00 PM and it didn't get dark until 9:30. We arrived during a rare rain storm for Kansas and afterwards watched a fantastic lightning show in the distance for 360 degrees. Our night temperature was 65 with a strong breeze. I'm sure by Kansas standards it was a gentle one. The staff was very friendly and courteous and went out of the way to make sure we were satisfied. There's an onsite pub that serves a cold brew or good hot sandwiches or a meal while listening to some good tunes from the 70's and 80's, not a honky tonk. We camped at High Plains Camping in a Travel Trailer.

AB Camping & RV Park, Cheyenne, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Wife and I spent the night here on our way home back in East Texas. The place is very clean with level gravel sites. Most have a shade tree. The permanent campers are pretty well separated from the overnighters. The place has a small BBQ stand that cooks nightly. We are dinner there. We had the ribs and brisket. It was good, nothing out of this world, but I'd eat it again. I'd also stay overnight again if in the area. If also recommend calling ahead for an RV site. We camped at AB Camping & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
