Paint Creek State Park, Bainbridge, Ohio

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

The campground was pretty satisfactory. Our site was located near the playground, but my kids spent more time in the woods surrounding it rather than on the dated wooden apparatus. The bathrooms were mostly clean, and the water temperature was good. Unfortunately, someone pooped in one of the showers, but it was cleaned up after several hours. There were a lot of free activities available. They offered a free breakfast, canoe basic trip, hay rides, archery training, and even a cave tour on the weekend we had gone. We had a pretty level pad, and the campsite was pretty hilly, but it offered a lot of shade and the area around the fire ring was flat and allowed for five camp chairs to be arranged around it. On another note, the lake beach has a changing area that is locked up, so make sure you change before you head down, unless you don't mind changing clothes in a porta-potty. We camped at Paint Creek State Park in a Tent Trailer.

Miami Whitewater Forest County Park, Harrison, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is very close to my home, so we camp here pretty regularly. The upper sites are rather hilly, and most of the lower sites are mostly level. There are a few towards the bottom that have a bad slope, though. There is a playground located in the bottom section, as well. The park offers a lot of attractions (a snack bar, water park for little kids, paved bike trails, disc golf, fishing, hiking trails) and the campground features decent sized sites with plenty of shade. The bathrooms and showers have always been clean when we have camped, and the campground is monitored regularly by park rangers who are friendly and not overbearing. We have a pop-up so without a toilet, so we do not have the problem with the dump station that I keep reading about. Overall, if you are looking for a quiet campground with a lot of activities within the park, I would definitely recommend this park. We camped at Miami Whitewater Forest County Park in a Tent Trailer.

Carter Caves State Resort Park, Olive Hill, Kentucky

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Overall, the campsite was great. The staff were helpful, bathrooms were clean with hot water, and the hiking trails were well-marked. The cave tours were also very nice. There were some small campsites, so it is best to check out the size before making reservations. My only complaint has to do with the "mountain bike" trails. They are suited only for horses or foot traffic, not bikes. We camped at Carter Caves State Resort Park in a Tent Trailer.
