Potato Creek State Park, North Liberty, Indiana

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

The park was busy on the weekend we were there but they handled the crowd well. All of the sites are similar in appearance. Electric, but no water on site. However the water filling station and dump station are easy to access. Nice playground. Site was level. We camped at Potato Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Juniper Campground (NPS Campground), Theodore Roosevelt National Park, North Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $7.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived with no reservations as this is FCFS. Plenty of sites available. The roads were easy to navigate for our 33 foot RV. Sites are roomy. The park campground was undergoing building renovations so not picturesque but worked out fine. Great location in the middle of the park. No utilities at all. We camped at Juniper Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

There are bison everywhere and they address often close to, or on, the road. The prairie dog town hike was beautiful. Visit the river bend overlook at sunset for an inspiring moment.

Red Trail Campground, Medora, North Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We called 2 days ahead of time to reserve a spot. Service was helpful and accurate. Our site was reasonably sized given this is commercial campground in a busy area. The campground is 4 minutes from the National Park. No problems with utilities. WiFi is not fast but usable. We would return if back in this area. We camped at Red Trail Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

We called 3 days in advance to secure a site for Mid-September. Manager was friendly and helpful. Site was level, roomy and pretty. Easy access to utilities. They have a nightly communal campfire. Road out is snug fit. About 5 minutes from park gate. We camped at Moose Creek RV Park and B&B (formerly San-Suz-Ed RV Park) in a Motorhome.

St. Mary Campground (NPS Campground), Glacier National Park, Montana

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $5.00
Overall Rating:

The campground was in primitive status as of Sept 14. Sites are snug, though level, for a 33 foot motorhome with slides but we made it work. 6 hours of generator time daily. Great access to the park. Saw a black bear at the campground. Dump station closed. No water available. Quiet. Roads easy to navigate. We camped at St. Mary Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We arrived after dark and needed a quick place to sleep en route to Glacier NP. There are no designated spots, you just park wherever. It was quiet and felt safe. No facilities. Road was muddy but easily passable. Nice little city. We camped at Trafton Park in a Motorhome.

Boysen State Park, Shoshoni, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

There was no one on site when we arrived. We called ahead but info not specific as to differences between the 3 campgrounds. We ended up in Tough Creek. Not many campers there. Water spigots for filling tanks near bathrooms but not at sites. No electric. Dump station location was a mystery until we saw a ranger when we were leaving; no signage. If you are heading south it is not convenient. Really windy. Lake is beautiful and park is quiet. We camped at Boysen State Park in a Motorhome.

Greenough Lake Campground, Red Lodge, Montana

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $9.00
Overall Rating:

We did not reserve a site and fortunately got one of the two spots still available on a September Thursday. This campground is about a mile off of US 212 but feels more remote. Roads are paved, turns are tight but we did fine with our 33' motorhome. Sites are snug due to vegetation; neighbors do not feel close. Pit toilets were very clean. No electric. There's is an old fashioned hand pump for drinking water that does not have a hose bib, so arrive tanked up. No dump station until the convenience store in Red Lodge that allows use with purchase. We camped at Greenough Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Beartooth pass is stunning. You could do it in a medium sized rig with a skilled driver but much more enjoyable with a car. Great hike to Greenbough lake from the campsite.

Tri-County Fairgrounds, Deer Lodge, Montana

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Very basic facility but is easy to access and is a good value. I never got an answer on the phone so I simply showed up. Enter via the driveway next to the gas station and follow it around past the pavilion to the fenced area that has a row of 30amp plugs and park there. Sites are wide open, gravelled and level. Water spigots are not at the sites but are available along the dirt driveway. No dump facility. There is a drop box for your fee paid on the honor system. Showers and bathrooms in the pavilion very clean. No picnic tables. No trees. Cattle penned up nearby but quietly munching on hay and not a problem. Only 3 campers when we were here. We camped at Tri-County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Venango Park COE, Marquette, Kansas

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Check in is via internet or phone. If there is a camp host we never saw them. Sites were not level but easy to solve with leveling blocks. Easy road and site access. Utilities are a mixed bag ranging from water + electric to none, you just look and figure it out when driving through. Some shade. Tidy but not pristine. We camped at Venango Park COE in a Motorhome.

Scissortail Campground, Edmond, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

This is a city owned campground on the west side of Lake Acadia only 5 minutes off I-35. They accept same day reservations and were 3/4 full on this September weekend. Sites are mostly level and private. Clean but dusty. We were told sites shared water access but did not realize till we arrived that the spigot was 200 feet away. I don't carry that much hose, so I tried to change sites. The camp host was polite but said we could not change sites without charging us again. I gave up on a site change, found another site's spigot, parked in the middle of the loop road and filled my onboard tank instead. On the way out the dump area had fresh sewage and decomposing toilet paper all over the concrete pad from a previous camper but this was due to the previous camper and not the campgrounds fault. Worth a visit but bring lots of hose or plan on using onboard water. We camped at Scissortail Campground in a Motorhome.

Old Post Road COE, Russellville, Arkansas

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

This is a smaller park not too far from Russellville. The sights are roomy and not too close together. Lots of shade. There is recent damage from the historic flood of June 2019 which closed part of the sites. However the rest of is usable and was not adversely affected. The sights are level and easy to access for larger rigs. We camped at Old Post Road COE in a Motorhome.

Whitten Park COE, Fulton, Mississippi

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent park. The person at check in was friendly and helpful. Lots of sites to choose from on this early September weekday. Site was level with a pretty view of lake. No sewer, but water and 50 amp electric in good repair. Easy roads to navigate for our 33 foot motorhome and our rig would have fit on 80% of the sites. Nice breeze too. 2 bar Verizon signal. We camped at Whitten Park COE in a Motorhome.
