Lakeview RV Resort, Houston, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice and helpful staff. Nice looking RV Park - several long termers here with their belongings stashed under their RV's.

We are experienced RV'ers and appreciate being able to setup quickly without hassles, but 3 things irked us.

1. The hookups for the black and gray dumps are on very flat concrete - not dished as you would expect and it was almost impossible to screw them in easily. Whoever setup the park had no idea what they were doing.

2. The trash is a 1/4 mile walk from the back of the rv park - have left mine at the rear of the RV and will dump it during the next drive out

3. In this day and age of internet being an essential utility, it is half the speed you can get from a cellphone. Slow and crappy and forces you to login periodically, so a reliable constant connection is unavailable. Plus, all the rules of no streaming movies etc only email and web and the threat of blocking you. Hello? Felt like 1990's and a dial up modem all over again. Needs decent Internet desperately and efforts would be better pointed at providing it rather than policing their crappy Tengo Internet. Side bar: we have always had bad experiences with Tengo Internet. Never fast, always unreliable and best avoided.

Get real people - if you want to charge 60 bucks a night, how about some real facilities? Your park is nice, but so are state parks with the same facilities at half the price. We camped at Lakeview RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Liberty Harbor RV Park, Jersey City, New Jersey

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $90.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent location with views of downtown Manhattan and Statue of Liberty. Park and waterfront is just a close walk.

We backed in our 42' 5th wheel with extra 11' of trailer and golf cart making 53' unhooked. Sites are tight but the one on our awning side was left empty so we got 2 for the price of one and put the awning out.

Took the golf cart down the waterfront lane and across the footbridge to the park about half a mile away. Amazing views of the Statue and NYC, and mile long board walk.

Park is quiet on week nights and noisy until 2.30am on Friday and Saturday nights due to the clubbing crowd getting the ferry back from the city.

No waste hookups but we used our transfer tank to empty at the dump station. Power and water hookups are good with 30A & 50A.

If you have a camper this is the only game in town. Don't expect reliable Internet as it's patchy. Staff was friendly.

A light breeze most days made it pleasant. We stayed 8 nights.

If you have a dually to tow a 5th wheel beware of the crazy NY drivers who will cut you off as a matter of habit unaware of the size of the rear. Toll fee into Manhattan through the Holland tunnel is $42 for dually'S and $15 for cars.

All in all, we would stay again. Location gets a A, facilities a C and site functionality a D.

Remember though, you would book because of location and convenience, otherwise it's an hour in here. We would stay again if Manhattan is the priority. We camped at Liberty Harbor RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you have a golf cart, bring it. We were surprised how accessible the waterfront park was and used the GC to travel there and back with ease.

Bull Run Regional Park, Centreville, Virginia

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This is a State Park which is indifferent to service, and overcharges at $43 with no cable, and no WiFi.

Rang four times to ensure we were good for a booking for a 53' rig and spoke with two people. Arrived, and was told that max length was 38' and all the larger sites are closed for holiday season light show.

Staff were completely indifferent to any form of service and did not care. Could not use dump site either.

Any commercial facility would not tolerate such poor staffing or indifference to service.

Won't bother visiting next time even when it's open.

Booked a nearby park with Cable, WiFi, full hookup long pull through which cost less. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Fifth Wheel.

La Hacienda RV Resort & Cottages, Austin, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Park is nice, campers are great. Nice sealed roads and large spaces.

Lawn mowing frequency is TERRIBLE. Expect shin high grass presently and BYO lawn mower. Many campers are complaining that they pay $600 a month and the lawns are being mowed only every 2-3 weeks in the height of summer. Makes the place look scrappy. We camped at La Hacienda RV Resort & Cottages in a Fifth Wheel.
