Del Norte Redwoods State Park, Crescent City, California

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Location is top notch: gigantic redwoods and weeds are all around you. Like another review noticed you kind of live a hobbit movie here. Getting there is not that difficult, hosts are kind and helpful. Sites are all different in size and type, are about level, and fire ring and table are there, just like water spigots. Restrooms and showers are there. But the restrooms are very tired and the shower still need quarters. There's no electricity. BUT, for european visitors this is an amazing campground. I'll remember its almost magic atmosphere, its trails and above all its awe inspiring trees for a very long time. We camped here for two nights in a 27ft motorhome. If opportunity knocks I'll be back there. We camped at Del Norte Redwoods State Park in a Motorhome.

Patrick's Point State Park, Trinidad, California

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Great campground if you're not adamant on ocean view. Very few sites have, whilst the majority hasn't. But it's wonderful camping amidst large redwoods that provide some shade on a sunny day! And a short and easy hike to ocean rim and (bit strenuous) a beach. Access is easy, sites are large, level and most of them easy to back in into. Wet facilities are there, but not many of them. They are clean, but might do well with some re-vamping. We will definitely return here, if in the neighborhood. We camped at Patrick's Point State Park in a Motorhome.

Douglas City Campground, Douglas City, California

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

California's hidden gem Campground is in Douglas City, about 10m south of Weaverville. Arriving by 299, take the Douglas City exit, go along Steiner Flat Road until the top of the hill, then go straight down to campground, in all about 1 mile. Campground is first come, first served, situated along meandering Trinity River, with ample level sites. Silence, birds, river and mountain view add up to a lasting positive experience. Host was second to none and very helpful. We camped here for three days in a 27" motorhome and will surely come back sometime. We camped at Douglas City Campground in a Motorhome.

Sidney Gulch RV Park, Weaverville, California

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very conveniently located campground, next to the Hwy and 'in town'. People are helpful, provided us with a 50/30A adapter, and our level full hook-up site had a patio in the shade! Wifi and cell phone: no problem. The toilets and showers were OK. But yes, there's noise and access requires some skill, plus some sites are clearly for long-term users. We stayed here in a motorhome for one night and would consider doing so again if passing by. We camped at Sidney Gulch RV Park in a Motorhome.

Colusa-Sacramento River SRA, Colusa, California

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Not a campground I'll visit again. Colusa is a nice little town, the Sacramento river (stroll!) next door, the wildlife refuges are absolutely great, and it's the only CG in a large area that is off I-5. But City management either has no idea of managing a campground or it doesn't interest 'em one single bit. We already paid for 2 nights before looking into toilets or showers. Both turned out filthy, unkempt. And remained so for two nights. There was a host, but an inactive one. Plus strange arrivals just before dark. Still no sewer. We camped at Colusa-Sacramento River SRA in a Motorhome.

Anthony Chabot Regional Park, Oakland, California

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

"Location, location, location!" That's what we felt upon arriving here. It's simply gorgeous, with some drawbacks. Mentioned by others: the access road is narrow and winding, and the regime is a bit childish. Also the virtual absence of decent showers is not an advantage. Having said that I'm still enthousiastic: who'd dream of camping quietly & like royals in a eucalyptus campground, looking down upon a blue lake & wildlife while being so close to I580/SF? We camped here for one night in a 27" motorhome, had a level full hook-up site and enjoyed our last night in the US to the hilt. We camped at Anthony Chabot Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Medford / Gold Hill KOA, Central Point, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Located close to I-5 and with lots to do in the area this is a nice campsite to spend a few days in the Rogue Valley, about halfway between Medford and Grant's Pass. Good access, friendly staff and a level full hook-up site with some shade was great for us. The grounds (including pool) were well kept, toilets clean and showers good. We camped here in a motorhome and will eventually visit again. We camped at Medford / Gold Hill KOA in a Motorhome.

Collier Memorial State Park, Chiloquin, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Being fairly close to I97 the noise levels are surprisingly low. With our 27" motorhome we had a great back-in site next to the Williamson river - which in a way explains why in our opinion the noise level of the road was low. Sites are level and the asphalted road is perfect, but sometimes big rigs will encounter challenges. When we were here the campground was about full, making the pressure upon the 'wet' group noticeable. No problem though. Cell phone very weak, no wifi Host was very helpful. Nice trails and a great Logging Museum at the other side of I97. We camped here for two nights on 2 different sites and call it a nice experience. We camped at Collier Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

Sandcreek RV Park and Campground, Torrey, Utah

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

After two years we returned here, primarily for nice countryside views and great showers. It still is a smaller campground with marvellous red rock views, catering for full hook-up to dry camping. We dry-camped here in early May and awoke with snow everywhere. Level sites, good accessibility. Great staff, clean and warm toilets/showers. We camped here for 1 night in a 27" motorhome and will return if in the area. We camped at Sandcreek RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Ideal stop-over in case of the Capitol Reef Fruita CG being full. Bring in enough food&drink, because nearest supermarket is 40m northwest in Loa.

La Pine State Park, La Pine, Oregon

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Access to this State Park is easy (Don't pay too much attention to the Campground Full sign), roads are asphalted, sites likewise. Electric is 30A only, while both showers and toilets were above standard. Dump facility is just before the exit. We were in the water/electric A-loop, offering large sites, all level, with enough shadow over the day, overseen by a charming and helpful host. All loops are within walking distance from the river. Weak cell phone, no wifi. Excellent hiking trails, most of them easy along the winding Deschutes River. Tall trees, big trees and some wildlife as well. We camped here for three nights and will consider a future repeat presence. We camped at La Pine State Park in a Motorhome.

Cascade Meadows RV Resort, La Pine, Oregon

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We didn't go for this campground, but camped here for one night as a solution to a problem only. It turned out to be a well run operation with polite and helpful people, large and level pull-through full hook up sites, swimming pool and suitable but basic toilets and showers. Cell phones worked fine, wifi as long as you're within the office. The I97 is next door, so there's quite a bit of noise. For us this campground lacked inspiration, so after one day we moved our motorhome within the La Pine area. We camped at Cascade Meadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Virgin Valley Campground, Winnemucca, Nevada

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

A bit of an undisclosed beauty. The Sheldon NWR, originally developed by CCC, is a vast area with a free campground somewhere. There are signposts on the 140, then follow the dirt road for 2-5 miles and you arrive at a series of ponds and a circular swimming pool and shower house, both fed by warm springs. The campground is split up in various (some secluded) locations for (in total) about 30 sites. The camp host is attentive and very helpful indeed. Also there's a pit toilet and some fire rings. No wifi, TV or cell phone. Main attractions are the pool and unbeatable views all around you. Add the trails, wildlife viewing and the nighttime skies, and we called it the 'find' of this holiday trip. Do bring enough food/drink in. Nearest shops in Winnemucca NV or Lakeview OR. Worth a detour! We camped at Virgin Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

New Frontier RV Park, Winnemucca, Nevada

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

The only thing lacking here is big trees. Many sibling trees, but no shade yet. Hospitality is among USA's best though! Easy maneuvering asphalted roads. Large level pull-through or back-in sites, full hooks-ups, all amenities and great views all around you. Even some trails. We camped here in a motorhome for two nights and would do so again. Colt RV Park , Battle Mountain, Nevada

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This is a conveniently located graveled parking lot, providing level pull-through sites, full hook-ups, TV and a great 'wet' group (located behind the gas station 300 yards away). It's also a truck stop (grueling noise at night) and there are some obviously long term residents. The vista is a bit depressing, but then you come here for an overnight stay. The place provides exactly that. We camped at Colt RV Park in a Motorhome.

Friendly people, a functioning laundry, great showers and a site with mountain view: that's what we got on a wet, snow-ridden day in mid-May 2019. Without a reservation. Full hook-up or water/elec level sites, good AT&T and wifi near the office building. For us it was an excellent campground. We camped here for 1 night in a motorhome.
