Clerbrook Golf & RV Resort, Clermont, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This review is for the average person who wants to stay here knowing there are over 1200 sites and they are likely to get one. All sites for random visitors are assigned at check in at the gatehouse. If you've reserved online that is how it works. We were assigned probably the worst site in the whole park even though there were tons of open spots. It was 584 and had the back side of three park homes on the door side of our RV and a wastewater treatment view out the other side windows. We drove right on by that one and found one that we like much better at the back of the park on Flamingo Road. Super large sites that can accommodate a larger rig and peaceful and uncrowded. So my advice for shorter term visitors is to keep driving until you find something acceptable and then call back to the office and change it. It is ridiculous but that is how they prefer to run this place. The Lifestyles section up front is too small for larger rigs and the sewer hookup is located right where you would back up over it. Only smaller trailers and Class B dwellers should attempt it. The back rows of the Veranda section has larger sites and are easier to back into. We even snagged a shady spot under a large oak tree. Most sites are grass and most do not have sewer covers other than a brick or soda bottle. That is unacceptable for a modern park. Picnic tables were in very limited supply. Laundry rooms were very large and the pools looked nice. Verizon is three bars and we had no tv reception parked under the tree. A true resort has wifi and cable and this place doesn't so be warned. Other than that it was a pleasant place to stay for two weeks while we were in Central Florida. We camped at Clerbrook Golf & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Solitude Pointe, Cleveland, South Carolina

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at Solitude Pointe for a little less than a month (reflected in price above) and enjoyed the peaceful park like atmosphere very much. This is the first campground we stayed at that provides an outside garbage can that they empty. That is so much nicer than seeing bags of trash everywhere. I highly recommend the Sat evening group camp fire -it's a great chance to meet others and enjoy a lovely fire. We paid a monthly rate plus electricity cost. Laundry is $2.50 per wash and $2.50 per dry on the honor system. Our site was a bit difficult to back into and required us to remove our hitch, it was just too much of a drop back into it, but the owner helped and it was much appreciated. But once in, it was level and paved so we stayed very clean. Our Verizon was non existent so we finally purchased a booster and then got three bars with that. Wifi was adequate but a bit spotty over the month. I think the owner installed some new repeaters and then it was much better. If you want to use a dish, I recommend the sites closer to the road, there is just no way at the top. Hiking is the main attraction around these parts. We camped at Solitude Pointe in a Motorhome.

Pohick Bay Regional Park, Lorton, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

I found it very frustrating to pay for a 50 amp full hook up camp site (71) and have the power kick off repeatedly each day. We have a progressive energy management system wired into our power bay so it was protecting us or alerting us of the low power. Probably 15 times per day. I called maintenance to see if there was a problem with our power pedestal only to be told the system is old and can't handle all the units pulling 50 amps. We were probably at the end of a run of power, but seriously I can't see paying that much for a site that doesn't deliver. We needed the sewer hookup as it was our first one in weeks and there were no other sites available. But if I can only draw 30 amps why am I paying for a 50 amp site. Be aware in the summer it will be difficult. We camped at Pohick Bay Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Bandits Roost COE, Wilkesboro, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

This COE has so many spots overlooking the water - well done COE! We lucked out and got a long pullthru for one night on our travels. It is long and spacious enough so you don't feel right on top of each other. The site is gravel and clean. No real shade to speak of in the pull thru section but there is wrap around water view.

This is just a water and electric site park, but there is a dump station. Plenty of room for your boat and extra vehicles in nearby parking areas. The road into the COE is very narrow - would hate to pass another large rig on the way in or out so plan your times accordingly. We camped at Bandits Roost COE in a Motorhome.

McIntosh Lake Campground & RV Park, Townsend, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We pulled off the highway and into a pull thru spot that had the most beautiful view of a small lake. How lovely! Site was grass and sand but that was okay. They have a small laundry room that looked very clean with newer machines and two bathrooms that are multi use. I checked out the clubhouse and deck overlooking the lake - looks very nice, showing its age a bit. DVDs and games are only to be used in the clubhouse. Cable was great. Very helpful and nice hosts. We will definitely stay again. We camped at McIntosh Lake Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Natchez Trace RV Park, Shannon, Mississippi

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed overnight and the pullthru (#4) was easy to access and accommodated us very well. It provided some lovely shade on a super hot day. There was an extra charge for sewer - either to dump or use at site so may as well ask for a full hookup. It was very peaceful and we enjoyed our respite from the road here. Lots of workers who leave early but more power to them - great to have a job! Pool was looking a little green around the edges and laundry room was a bit rustic. We didn't use either but I always appreciate an honor system laundry - so much easier than hauling around a bunch of coins. We camped at Natchez Trace RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park, West Memphis, Arkansas

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

What can I say about an RV park that has a fantastic view, good wifi, FREE laundry, trash pickup at my site 3x a day, and great over the air TV reception. (Honey I'm home!!) Two hookups: a first for us! We have two black tanks so that is super nice!

The office staff is very efficient, we were escorted to our site and the overall feeling is that these people are on top of things. Watching the river traffic is just plain fun. There is a good view from all sites, so do not fret.

The drive through West Memphis is a bit depressing, I would try to get fully stocked before arriving here. That is the only reason this place doesn't get a 10. We plan to head into Memphis for the day and hit Bass Pro and surrounds.

After a string of dud parks this one was a refreshing change of pace. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Spring Creek Campground, Clarksville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This is a new Passport America site. We stayed over Labor Day weekend - not terribly busy. This campground was very peaceful. It is in a great location close to I 24 but not close enough that you hear all the noise all night. It is next to a creek that winds through the entire property. The front part is really pretty. However, it seems like the first half of the campground gets all the benefits, the wifi is only at the office, the dumpster is only up front, the bathrooms are only next to the office. Campers in the back and in the pullthroughs are inconvenienced by these things. This would be okay for Rvers with self contained units, but still improvements must be made. It has a ways to go to make it a great place to pull off the highway and spend the night. Firstly, every sewer hookup needs a cover, period end of story. That is just a given in any RV park. Secondly, every pull through site needs a fresh application of gravel to define each site and take out the depressions that really detract from the experience. Third, there are numerous electrical boxes that appear to be old and unworking - those should be removed or at least covered. It is just confusing at first glance. Finally, all the foliage fronting the creek needs to be cut down and removed, making for a more lovely setting that will really be attractive to campers. Those things would go a long way to getting repeat customers especially now that it is a Passport America park. We camped at Spring Creek Campground in a Motorhome.

Fern Lake Campground, Paducah, Kentucky

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We were in the pullthrough section at the front of the park and found it to be an easy in and out. Sites are pretty close but for overnighters that is fine. I found the owners to be so nice and helpful - really restored my faith in humanity. I was getting used to being invisible so to get suggestions of what to see and directions was so nice. We had a great wifi connection and OTA reception. Sites are gravel so a bit dusty but I am tired of mud haha! Had a great nights sleep - road noise was negligible. Very convenient location to head to restaurants and grocery stores. If you don't want to drive there is a Waffle Hut right across the street. We camped at Fern Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Scott County Park, Bald Eagle Campground, Eldridge, Iowa

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely park and the entire thing is huge. On our visit just before Labor Day, the Bald Eagle campground was filled up totally. I think that is because of the full hookups. It sure makes it nice to have a place on the road to take care of everything. The other campgrounds were totally empty so there is always lots of spots with water and electricity. We loved the high and dry paved spot. It has rained for days so we really enjoyed that.

We were in 337 next to the bathhouse parking lot and we got great public internet. Our satellite came in great here: lots of wide open sky. Even over the air channels came in pretty well.

Sure wish we were staying longer; this is a great place to ride bikes and explore, rest and recharge. We camped at Scott County Park, Bald Eagle Campground in a Motorhome.

There is a pool in the park but it was closed already. There are numerous hiking and bike trails: most closed due to the extreme amount of rain here.

Blackhawk Valley Campground, Rockford, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely campground. Seasonals ring the outside of the campground and most are well maintained and look very pretty. There are two large green areas. We were very happy to get an easy pull thru site. Parking is opposite each other so you either look at the river side or the green space. We had a 50 amp full hookup but were told by the neighbor to use just 1 ac as the power spikes. Ok no problem - we have power monitoring and we had no issues. The entrance into the park was just fine. For a Passport park it is pretty nice. However the amenities are lacking. the lounge area looks run down and filled with stuff. I guess there is an auction next month, maybe that is why. The laundry room was oppressive no fans, just miserable. No change machine so you have to wait for office to open at 10:30. We came to do laundry and have wifi. Wifi isn't working. Why advertise that you have it if it doesn't work? This could be a 9 park but instead instead is just a 6. Infrastructure work needs to be done. Do your laundry in town - have AC there and probably wifi! We camped at Blackhawk Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

Cliffside County Park, Racine, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Really lovely county park with exceptionally clean restrooms. The site we had was lovely and spacious - we had lots of privacy and the view sightlines were still good as sites are staggered well. We enjoyed riding our bikes around the campground and found the easiest trail was off the group campground loop in the back of the campround. It is mowed and level and great for bike riding. We also walked through the woods from picnic area 2 and that was fun and went along a creek for a ways. Both end up overlooking Lake Michigan.

I did not want to pay the $12 online reservation fee so we arrived on a Wednesday, checked the front board for openings (they allow reservations 7 days before hand for the walk in 1 - 42 sites) found a handful open and selfpaid. It is very tight on weekends so just know that going in. At the very worst, you can boondock overnight at one of the group sites that are very secluded or picnic areas although i am sure they don't appreciate that. there is a camp host at site 74 you can check with as well. We rode around the reserved side 43-92 and found plenty of openings there. TV reception with King Jack was only 2 - 3 channels. We camped at Cliffside County Park in a Motorhome.

Kampvilla RV Park & Family Campground, Bear Lake, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

I agree with others that the staff here is so friendly and welcoming. I love the staggered sites that we had with the 50 amp service and we did have some trees to look at so that was very nice. There are some very private sites scattered around so be sure to ask for that if that is your desire. My only regret with the campground is that the wifi didn't reach our site so we had to visit the clubhouse where the signal was nice and strong. I did get two channels over the air and actually got some WI channels the second time I scanned. The laundry facilities are also divided, meaning there is only one machine per location so it is hard to do a lot at once. This campground is in an out of the way location from most of the area's attractions but we did an exploring trip every day and really loved that we were out of the crazy. We camped at Kampvilla RV Park & Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Mason County Campground, Ludington, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We spent a week here at a 50 amp full hookup site and loved it. The roads are paved so it's quiet when people come and go. The whole campground is densely treed so it is very shady but there is sun on the roads. There are only 55 sites total including some tent only sites so it doesn't reach the same level of crazy busy as some state parks. It is out in the country but still a very pleasant country drive to Ludington, Pentwater and surrounding area. We enjoyed the nearby Lake MI overlook area and thought it was a pleasant hike. Our kids rented a cabin and it was clean and just right for sleeping. We'll be back again. We camped at Mason County Campground in a Motorhome.

We really enjoyed going to the Amber Elk Ranch and taking the tour. $8 for seniors and it was wonderful! If you are going to Ludington State Park, there is plenty of parking along the access road to the park, no need to pay $$ to get in. Same lake. RVs were parked there as well, but no overnight parking and it looked like they were coming from the state park as they were facing the way out so might be problems parking a big rig for a few hours.

Pleasant Lake County Park and Campground, Pleasant Lake, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for a week and it has a lovely park like setting. Many smaller sites are shaded. There are around 12 sites that are larger and suitable for larger rigs. The roads are paved/gravel and the sites are on grass. We were able to park under a large tree and glad we did, it was hot. Each site has water and electricity but many are buddy sites where you and your neighbor are hooked up at the same pole which means someone has to have a longer cord to do that. I was initially wary to go in with our toad but the roads are plenty big enough to stop and unhook and to navigate around. Weekends are crazy though and many large groups camp here together. We counted 12 tents in one group. Camping midweek is very quiet.

There is a very large play structure, picnic pavilions, horseshoe pits, shuffleboard courts, swimming available in the lake, a concession stand from Thursday thru Sunday, and boating is allowed. I saw several people with their boat and RV parked together. There is a dump station to use on the way out of the park. While the park does have gates, they are no longer used. A camp host is on site all week. There is no wi fi but over the air TV reception was great. Just aim the antenna towards Lansing. The bathrooms are not fantastic so best to use your own rig. Swimming is the main activity here, along with peace and quiet. We camped at Pleasant Lake County Park and Campground in a Motorhome.
