Two Rivers Campground, Nashville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed three nights. Chose campground due to proximity to Nashville and availability of $10 shuttle to/from Nashville. On a road with 4 other campgrounds, and 2 major RV dealers. Sites are level and tight but manageable. Interior roads head resurfacing. Lots of rain and huge puddles. Free music every night. We camped at Two Rivers Campground in a Motorhome.

Wahweap RV and Campground, Page, Arizona

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

Can I please give this campground 100 stars. Here's why: 1. You check in a well organized and well stocked camp office/store. 2. You drive on wide paved roads to your generous campsite. 3. The view from sites is magnificent. 4. The campsites are large and include picnic table, fire ring and grill. 5. The restrooms are new and very clean. 6. You can rent a book, take a charter boat tour, visit the dam, or take a hike. 7. There are so many fish you barely need a hook. The setting is magnificent. This park/campsite is perfect. We can't wait to come back. We camped at Wahweap RV and Campground in a Motorhome.

Only full hook up site in park. Shuttle bus stops here so easy to get around without a car. Walking distance to Village for meals, shopping, etc. Our site was 2 degrees off level but other than that great. We camped at Trailer Village RV Park (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Reliable full hook ups and clean functional rest/shower rooms. Very close to the airport and downtown. Heavily wooded sites...some a bit unlevel. Next to lodge with free internet and toasty fire. Greensboro KOA, Greensboro, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Convenient to I-40 and I-85. We stayed at this campground for 4 nights. Our pull-through site was plenty long enough, and happily we found a level spot right away. Water, electric and sewer were easily accessible. This is not a large park, but the older couple who are running the park were friendly and warm. They offered us a military discount when they saw our license plate. We camped at Greensboro KOA in a Motorhome.

Destin Army Infantry Center Recreation Area (Military FamCamp, Destin, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We were told that this was a very tight layout and that we would likely not be able to extend our awning. But that certainly wasn't the case. If you have a big rig, I'm sure you need to take your time navigating around the small circular campsite. And backing in for a large trailer or 5th wheel might be challenging. But we found rigs of all sizes and shapes, and in no case was anyone that close to one another. In addition to a spacious pad for your home on wheels, there is a separate concrete pad for you towed vehicle, and another for the patio and picnic table. You are less than 100' from the bay, and just 1 mile from the Destin "strip" (restaurants, souvenir shops, and bars). Even though the pools were closed for renovations, we will definitely go back again. Since there is a hotel and villas on site as well, it is an excellent spot for a gathering of military friends and family. Great FREE wifi, and clean baths, slower and laundry. We camped at Destin Army Infantry Center Recreation Area (Military FamCamp in a Motorhome.

Shields RV Park (Military FamCamp), Gulfport, Mississippi

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

65 pull through sites with full hook up and cable just inside the gates of this small SeaBee base. Since in the winter most of the sites are taken by seasonal residents they are opening a second park on the other end of the base in April 2016. We went to tour that facility as well, which is close to the lake, boat rentals, golf facility, paintball, children's park and more. Both facilities will allow reservations, and on line reservations are being offered starting April 1. As always, the facility is clean and well maintained. We camped at Shields RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Pecan Grove RV Park, Austin, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is just a few blocks from downtown Austin. We walked 1.5 blocks, and across the bridge to a fabulous, funky city with lots to see and do. The campground is primarily for full time residents. In fact there are only 12 spots (8 full hookup, and 4 electric and water only) that are ever rented on a daily or weekly basis. That said, the park manager insures that the facility is quiet and safe. We did not use the restrooms, showers or laundry. All were dirty, run down and gross. It appears the current owners realize they are sitting on a gold mine. If it weren't for new building ordinances which curtail the height of new construction and a few heritage trees this land would likely be an apartment building like next store. We camped at Pecan Grove RV Park in a Motorhome.

Fort Bliss RV Park (Military FamCamp), El Paso, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The RV facility at Fort Bliss is off base. In fact it is only about 20 feet from the highway. It is large, about 120 sites. It looks like a large parking lot with posts every 30 feet or so. All the spaces are pull through and fairly flat. The facility is clean as we have come to expect, and appreciate, from military facilities. For us, it was great for a one night stop on route to the next location. It seemed some people did stay there for many weeks or months, though I can't understand why. Reservations are not accepted. We called at 1pm to insure they had room. We arrived at 4pm and got the last spot. We camped at Fort Bliss RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Apache Flats RV Resort (Military FamCamp), Sierra Vista, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

The military campgrounds are a real bargain, and very well maintained. Apache Flats is no exception. With 65 level, pull through, full hook up sites this is a winter home for many active duty and military retirees. The centrally located office also houses the laundry and clean restrooms and showers. There is a very small dog park, but a nice walking trail around the rv park which provides adequate exercise on leash. Especially nice was a walking path that wound through the campground with low lights to aid your passage at night. No need to walk all the way to the end of the row to get to the office or restroom, and provided just enough ambient light at night. We camped at Apache Flats RV Resort (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Fort Huachuca has two museums. The first reviews the history of the base, and includes a free audio walking tour of historic buildings on the base. The second, which we enjoyed even more, is on military intelligence. And if you happen to be there in early March, make sure to attend the Cochise College Rodeo...the only rodeo competition held on a military base anywhere in the world.

Canyon Vistas RV Resort (55+ park), Gold Canyon, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

This is actually two facilities in one. Canyon Vistas is a traditional 55+ RV Resort with 600 spaces for RVs and Park Model Homes. It is adjacent and attached to Superstition Mountain, which is a 55+ community of manufactured homes with attached RV ports or garages. Both facilities offer a full range of amenities (pickleball, tennis, clubs, happy hours, etc) and residents of either side of the resort have access to all amenities. Since they are attempting to sell out the RV Port section of the community they offered a free week at a RV show. Very nice people. Monday breakfast social introduces new residents and guests. Happy hour 3-5pm M, W, and F with live music is especially nice. Located in Gold Canyon, just a 20 minute drive to Mesa. Site overlooks Superstition Mountain and is surrounded by protected land (desert). Any size rig will enjoy this rv park with full hookups. Advertised free wi-fi only worked in reception, and even there was very slow. Cable TV available if you are staying 1 month or more from an outside provider. Vast majority of residents are seasonal, with lots of folks from Central and Western Canada. We camped at Canyon Vistas RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Palm Creek Golf & RV Resort (55+ park), Casa Grande, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very large 55+ resort with Park Model and 50'x60' RV spots. Our check in process on 2/1 at 1pm was easy. We pulled into the staging area and found a greeter at our door immediately. Since we knew our assigned site number, a range sped over in a golf cart and led us to our space. We assisted us in parking, provided us some guidelines and encouraged us to get set up before checking in. We chose this park for the month of Feb for a few reasons: 1. friends stay here, 2. they have a first rate pickleball facility and 3. we were able to get a 50% discount as first time visitors. Otherwise the monthly fee at this time of year is over $1200. The park attracts a lot of Canadians and folks looking to stay 3 or more months. But the facility is immaculate and the executive golf course is in excellent condition. We camped at Palm Creek Golf & RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Sentinel Peak RV Park, Tucson, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

As they say in real estate: Location, Location, Location. This is a small, urban campground with eighteen back in sites (ranging from 30-50') surrounding five 70' sights. This small campground also has an office, clubhouse and small (wading) pool. We stayed here because we don't tow and like to be near public transportation. Surrounded by restaurants and only 6 blocks from public transit, this park delivered exactly what we needed. The campground hosts are work campers that are dedicated to making your stay very enjoyable. They even offer a complimentary movie Saturday nights in the clubhouse with free beer and snacks. Since this campground is only 6 months old, everything is spotless. We camped at Sentinel Peak RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tania's 33 is only two blocks away and offers the best breakfast burritos you may ever eat. Also treat yourself to Indian Fry Bread, only 1 block away. Tucson is among the most bike friendly cities in the country and the 100+ mile loop will provide hours and hours of entertainment. If you like to walk, you can easily walk to downtown Tucson. If you like to bike, bring it.

Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice park, with very nice people. Unsure of exactly how many sites they have...but it is a BUNCH. Lots or park model homes. Lots of activities. Used one of the 3 laundries and it was clean and had plenty of coin operated machines. A lot of the folks we met, spend the winter here and have been coming for a decade or more.
