West Canada Creek Campsites, Poland, New York

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Owners were super nice, accomodating and helpful. There is little to do here, but it is a pretty property. Campers were friendly. They have just a handful of tent sites, and they're in beautiful spots along the creek. Ours was very spacious. We went when there was bridge construction, but the owners let us know and even directed us to another campsite down the road if we didn't want to hear the construction. We stayed anyway. It was excessively buggy at night, so bring repellant. Bathrooms were clean and regularly maintained. The tent area had their own beautiful log-cabin bathroom. Small playground and some playing fields with balls provided. I will definitely go again and looking forward to it! We camped at West Canada Creek Campsites in a Tent.

Tips for other Campers:

Herkimer Diamond Mines was just up the road, and we had a blast!

We went river tubing for 2+ hours and it was wonderful! The owners have a shuttle that will drop you off down the road (depending on how long you want to float the river). You can bring your own tube or rent theirs, and they provide life jackets. Shuttle cost is $15 whether you have 1 person or 4. There is a cost for each additional person after #4.

Moody Beach RV Campground, Wells, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

LOVE this place. Been twice, will go again. PROS: Wonderful staff. Awesome, hot & impeccably clean hot tub. Nice size pool. Bathrooms/showers - SO CLEAN! Bathrooms near pool were like those at a 5-star hotel! Nice surroundings. Well behaved campers.

CONS: Tent sites are too small. Could barely fit our cabin tent and SUV on our site (other sites were even smaller). Main tree on our site had overhanging branches with needle-like prickers. We had to tie them up with bungee cords so they didn't rip our tent. Close to beach. If you're walkers, you can walk (it's a little over a mile one way). They also offer van transport to the smaller beach for $1.75/pp round trip, which is a savings. Our tip for even bigger savings: Drop off the family at the beach, park your car back at the campsite, then take the campsite van or the town trolley and meet them there. Ogunquit trolley is expensive: $2/pp one way. We camped at Moody Beach RV Campground in a Tent.

Sun Valley Campsites, Arkport, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Highly recommended! Our tent site was in the back, near woods. A few steps away was a short nature trail leading to amazing waterfalls. You can wade in the falls pools, or hike the falls using water shoes. The pool was cold but clean. Wide open area for sports play. Restrooms were convenient to tent site and were clean. Large group of campers first night kept us up all night screaming and swearing. When we notified management, they spoke with campers and did extra rounds, and rounds later at night to make sure there were no further problems. The grounds were just very pretty. We went jogging through them in the morning. We camped at Sun Valley Campsites in a Tent.

Stony Brook State Park is nearby, but you don't need it. Just walk the beautiful waterfalls in the back of the campsite!

Sleepy Hollow Lake Campground, Akron, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Place was a Dump. Only one real restroom/shower room and two showers. Other restroom near beach was filthy. Two showers, but you have to press them every 2 seconds for a drizzle of cold water to come out. Porta potties elsewhere, and they were overflowing and Stunk. Management was very unpleasant and when you walked into the office/store, acted like you were inconveniencing them. I was very disturbed when I watched them treat some families with young children very badly when they had a lot of property stolen from their campsite. Hang onto your items! I left my sunglasses behind in the restroom for a split second and by the time I went to get them, they'd already been swiped. Also, a family next to me had their Coleman camp lantern stolen off their picnic table. No visible security or patrols. There was no slide in the water, as promoted. The beach sand was gray and smelled bad. Very tiny beach area, and outside the ropes the water was so slimy and gross. The ropes were coated with slime. Picnic tables at the beach, but they were wall dirty. Looks like no one is cleaning at this place. Fire ring was a dirt pit. We camped at Sleepy Hollow Lake Campground in a Tent.
