Yucaipa Regional Park, Yucaipa, California

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely park in an urban setting. Our FHU, pull-through site was long and spacious. The sites are not crammed together and offered shade and privacy. The park is large with 3 ponds, a great swimming pool with a water slide for kids and there is a fishing pond as well. You feel like you are in a rural setting with a nice view of the San Bernardino Mountains. You need a code to get in the park after hours, so late arrivals should call ahead for instructions. We enjoyed our stay here. The only downside were the large number of gopher holes that make the ground a bit uneven - be careful where you walk. We camped at Yucaipa Regional Park in a Travel Trailer.

Shopping and laundromats are within a 5 minute drive. Joshua Tree National Park is about an hour away. Oak Glen Preserve and apple orchard country in the San Bernardino foothills with a Montane Botanic Garden and a Children's Discovery Center are worth a visit when you're in the area.

Welcome Station RV Park, Wells, Nevada

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is truly an oasis in the desert. The park has a babbling brook flowing through it with a little meditation pond and lots of grass under a collection of huge old trees. Lovely hosts who work to make sure you have a pleasant stay. We had a FHU pull-through site. We had a great time watching all the birds attracted to the oasis and the horses in the paddock behind the park. The park affords a lovely view of Grey's Peak. You won't be disappointed with your stay here. We camped at Welcome Station RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Buck Creek State Park, Springfield, Ohio

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice older state park - perhaps designed for a simpler time and smaller rigs. Our site was a short back in - one of the few that had a driver side back in (as opposed to a blind-side) and we had to park on the grass beside the camper. Campers must fill their tanks before parking. We did have electric on site. We were visiting friends nearby so did not take advantage of the recreational facilities, but the park does have a nice lake and marina and public beaches. There were some nice short trails where we walked the dog. Upon leaving, the dump station was convenient. We camped at Buck Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Cold River Campground (formerly Waltons Campground), Eddington, Maine

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here in October 2018 in a travel trailer near the end of their season. The owner led us to our site and the owners were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The park was decked out in fall colors, so despite the rain, it was a lovely place to stay. The staff was busy making improvements to the park when we were there so it will only get better. They also have a nice trail through the woods behind the park that our dog loved to run through. We did not use the showers or laundry, but we did have them fill our propane tanks. There is an area for seasonal campers. We were there in the off-season, but it looks like a very nice family campground with lots for kids to do. We would definitely stay there again. We camped at Cold River Campground (formerly Waltons Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit the Eagle's Nest Restaurant for the amazing lobster roll. (We prefer ours without mayonnaise dressing - "naked" & drawn butter to drizzle over). They also have an incredible seafood platter that will amply serve two with enough left over for a second meal! Best deal around.

Natchez Trace State Park / Pin Oak Lake, Lexington, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

This is a really nice state park. We stayed in Site #37 in the Pin Oak Campground. This is a pretty, well maintained park. We had a pull thru site with a full hook up. The site was long enough for our trailer and unhooked tow vehicle. The site was fairly level and had a nice view of the lake. The restrooms were clean although we did not use them. We did take advantage of the laundry facilities, which were reasonably priced. There is a nice pier in the campground for fishing or launching a kayak or canoe. There was a playground and swimming beach in one of the other loops. There is also a marina and a nice restaurant in the park. The park was also full of birds, especially warblers and tanagers. The one improvement I would suggest for the park would be to have more dumpsters for convenient trash disposal, but that's a small inconvenience. We camped at Natchez Trace State Park / Pin Oak Lake in a Travel Trailer.

Lake Ouachita State Park, Mountain Pine, Arkansas

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is possibly the prettiest, most well-maintained state park we have ever visited. The park personnel were helpful and knowledgeable. We had a spacious pull through (FHU) site near the beautiful lake in Camp Area A. The park has a great little marina and also offers a number of good trails for hiking. Unfortunately, Tropical storm Gordon was expected to cross the area so we cut our visit short to escape bad weather. The park hosts graciously refunded our money for the night we did not stay. We will be back to this wonderful park and we'll be bringing our kayaks next time. We camped at Lake Ouachita State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Paradise Park RV Resort, Harlingen, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

A good portion of this park is devoted to full-time residents. Most transient sites seem to be filled by working people and longer term snowbirds. The facilities are clean. There is a nice pool that would be great in warmer months. There is an active group of people that meet for recreation and fellowship. The transient sites are narrow with small covered patios (no picnic tables) on both sides that make it difficult to situate your trailer where both the utilities are convenient and you can extend slideouts between them. We had to purchase an extra 20' of sewer hose (40' total) so that we could extend our slideout. The internet was non-existent unless you are in the rec hall. The dog facilities are poor and sandburrs abound. Our site was directly under a high power line. We were there during a holiday & offices were closed so we can't comment on their service. We camped at Paradise Park RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Along the River Park , Capitan, New Mexico

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

We had a wonderful stay at this park from the moment we arrived. The owner helped guide us into our space and returned later to welcome us and make sure we had everything we needed. We were right on the Rio Bonito where the bird-watching was excellent! The park is equidistant from Capitan and Ruidoso. This is a well run park in a lovely setting, in spite of the fire that went through the area a few years back. We plan to return. We camped at Along the River Park in a Travel Trailer.
