Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA, Fort Mill, South Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

I read all the "bad" reports about this KOA. I always like to check for my self. I am glad I did. It is a FINE KOA.

One grumbling camper stated it was difficult to find the entrance. Well! Duh! If you read well, the sign clearly states NEXT right. Where the sign located , is at the entrance to Publix Grocery store. And when you turn the corner and see the sign for the first time, read the whole sign and you will not have any trouble.

2nd grumble, the roads are bad... No they are not. They are fine for a campground, our site is level and clean, with a concrete pad. Nothing is run down. We were greeted in the small ( sort of like a trailer) office, by a very nice gentleman who walked with me to two different sites and let me choose which I'd like better. Everything was done efficiently and properly . We reserved a pull through, that's what we got, and the gentleman even helped us square up our rig. I am so glad we decided to ignore the nasty reviews this KOA got in the late spring.... Our host was dressed very smartly too in dress slacks and a bright Yellow KOA shirt. I highly recommend this KOA. By the way... The pool IS open too.. One last comment. We arrived 1 hour ago, and already we are pleased with everything. We camped at Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA in a Motorhome.

North Carolina State Fairgrounds Campground, Raleigh, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Difficult to find, on Youth Center Drive. Sign says " Horse events" below large sign is a small sign stating "Campground." Look for gate H7. Newer RV campground, young trees, little shade, no amenities , except hook ups. One way system, garbage barrels at each site. Great for big rigs, and very close to events center, State Fair. Great flea market at fair ground, huge, but take an umbrella for shade. The camp ground is big, clean, open and okay, no showers pool or anything. Just a place to rest your head at night. Security attendant will drive up to check you in once you have chosen a spot. It's first come first served. No camping during State Fair weeks. We camped at North Carolina State Fairgrounds Campground in a Motorhome.

Gram and Pap's Fort Bellefonte Campground, Bellefonte, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

This could be one of the best campgrounds around PA. It's big, has nice treed areas to camp, fire rings, lots of places to walk, pet friendly ,

They are a little too laid back for our liking, when we arrived, the office was closed( early afternoon) a sign on the door said. Call this number, we did.. 4 times, goes to voice mail.. After driving around and walking around looking for someone to check us in, we decided to just pick a site and get settled. We did have a reservation for a one week stay. 2 hours later a lady shows up at our door and we eventually got checked in.

If you have trouble walking, do not stay here, the rv sites are on hilled terraces; very pretty, but hard to walk up and down the hills to the office.

The camp ground offers free mini golf and a water splash area, neither in good shape.

They keep horses ( no riding), rabbits, and a play ground. But, it all needs some tender love and lots of care; the owners are really trying to get it all together, and with time and a lot of work they might do it.

They have been trying to get a "store" up and running for the past three years, but there is still no store.

Overall, we would stay at Gram and Paps Fort Bellemonte again. The people are very nice. We camped at Gram and Pap's Fort Bellefonte Campground in a Motorhome.

About 10 minutes from Bellefonte. Don't go the Governors Pub to eat. The food is not good, fries are reheated, yucky. The park by the river is pretty, and has lots of ducks to feed.

Lakeshore Park Campground, Saint Ignace, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Just an ordinary RV campground, only one place with any sort of view of the lake , site 208. All the rest are blocked by tall trees. Ask for discount. Fine for over night stays. No pool, nothing special, few minutes drive to boats to take you over to Mackinac Island. Which is a VERY busy place in the down town area. We camped at Lakeshore Park Campground in a Motorhome.
