Abilene KOA, Abilene, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean KOA with a charming “General “ store full of knickknacks and RV decor (best we’ve seen at any RV park). Sites are grass but spacious and a decent dog park that’s well maintained (our pooch appreciated all the grass after weeks making do with the sand and gravel of Arizona!). Easy hookup but our satellite dish had a little difficulty with the surrounding trees so we just put it on the roof and all was good. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Motorhome.

Mission RV Park, El Paso, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Basic park close to I-10 (exit 35). Looks a little run down but the sites are plenty roomy for both our motorhome and tow car and everything worked fine.
Mixture of permanent residents (some with fairly old trailers, etc) as well as overnight RV guests. We camped at Mission RV Park in a Motorhome.

South Forty RV Ranch (55+ Park), Tucson, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Typical Arizona RV Park with both permanent (Park models) as well as RV travelers. A lot of noise off from Orange Grove and I 10 but not unbearable. Trash containers only at front of park (at least as far as we could see) and the dog parks were small but better than nothing. In our opinion some workers/residents at the park have a bit of a “control” issue. When we checked in we were told to follow the guide cart to our back in space - that was fine - however we needed to leave early in the morning and after hooking up our tow car and heading out the gate a guy races up in s golf cart and yells at us for big using an “escort” to leave the park. We replied that no one had mentioned it to us when checking in. He seemed upset but we were able to leave. On another occasion I stopped by the trash container between the pool and the kitchen and a guy yelled at us “ no dogs allowed here” - note: (1) we weren’t inside the dining area (2) we weren’t in the pool area and (3) did I mention the main trash cans are inconvenient. Appears to me the permanent residents would prefer if we RVers weren’t there at all - no problem - you won’t see us again! We camped at South Forty RV Ranch (55+ Park) in a Motorhome.

Desert Shadows RV Resort, Phoenix, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Second time we’ve stayed here. Great location close to I17 at 101 and only 2 blocks from large shopping center, the park is immaculate. We don’t use a lot of the services but the clubhouse has entertainment frequently and there is a large indoor swimming pool, hot tub, shuffleboard, botci, plus a huge laundromat. Book ahead if you’re coming in winter as it fills up fast. About 1/2 park models and 1/2 RV spaces. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Phoenix Metro RV Park (55+ park), Phoenix, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Convenient location is the main thing working for this park. Adjacent to I-17 close to 101 it’s centrally located but the tight quarters and overall condition make it less appealing. A 55 only park, they’re obsessive about dogs not relieving themselves anywhere except the 3 dog parks (two of which are very small) spaced throughout the park. Our dog is a good citizen but it’s a bit much to ask to trot a block or so without relief before doing her business. Condition of the dog parks is also not good (basically badly maintained litter boxes). Overall spaces are mainly back ins - cramped but ok for a night but not more in our opinion. We camped at Phoenix Metro RV Park (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

The Cove RV Resort (formerly Riviera RV Resort and Marina), Blythe, California

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

A bit of a mix - on the pro side, easy access from I-10, pull through sites, nice grass pad sites and located along a nice river (perfect for walks). On the negative side - the sites are actually very close together, you get a lot of noise from the freeway, and there’s not a lot of amenities. Ok for a one nighter or if Blythe is home base for a few days. We camped at The Cove RV Resort (formerly Riviera RV Resort and Marina) in a Motorhome.

Indian Waters RV Resort & Cottages, Indio, California

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Outstanding park right off I-10 and convenient to the Palm Springs area. Park is immaculate and has a lot of amenities (large clubhouse, pool, several hot tubs, pickle ball courts, 3 dog parks, etc). A great place to make as your home base for winter in the desert. Lots of nice walking areas as well. Price is high but probably comparable for other good parks in the area during the prime winter months. We didn’t use their WiFi as we have our own but someone said it was adequate. They occasionally have breakfasts and other meals in the clubhouse - we weren’t very impressed by the ones we ate at but overall this park has it all! We camped at Indian Waters RV Resort & Cottages in a Motorhome.

Palm Springs / Joshua Tree KOA, Desert Hot Springs, California

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

Immaculate KOA on the north side ofPalm Springs. Very well maintained with lots of amenities (miniature golf, tennis, horseshoes, clubhouse, cafe + one of the best dog parks we have ever been in). Sites are spacious and roads easy to maneuver. This park shines and shows the staff really care about it. We camped at Palm Springs / Joshua Tree KOA in a Motorhome.

Salome KOA, Salome, Arizona

Overall Rating:

About 20 or so miles off I-10, this park is quiet and well laid out. Sites are huge and roads easy to navigate. Has a lot of “perks”( minerature golf etc) which we didn’t use but everything else was great. We camped at Salome KOA in a Motorhome.

Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA), Van Horn, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

We stopped on a trip out west and were favorably satisfied. While Van Horn is a desert and sandy town the RV Park does a good job of keeping the park well maintained and clean. Sites are spacious and our pull through was easy to park and the interior roads easy to navigate. Nice little dog park area and the park is well lit. Would stay here again. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Motorhome.

Crazy Horse RV Park, Tucson, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Ok if you can’t find anything else. One of the tightest parks we’ve been in. Jammed like sardines. Had a pull through but had to disconnect our dinghy car even through our RVis only 28 feet long. Also lighting at night is poor. Had trouble disconnecting and some neighbors used their flashlights so we could even see to disconnect. No grass. Everything is gravel. We camped at Crazy Horse RV Park in a Motorhome.

Santa Fe Trail COE, Council Grove, Kansas

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

Spacious park on edge of beautiful lake. Stayed here while traveling through. Santa Fe is just one of 3 or more RV parks around Council Grove lake at the edge of the beautiful Kansas Flint Hills. The park was almost deserted due to being middle of week and after prime lake boating season. Asphalt pad with huge parking areas and convenient to rest rooms, showers etc. Beautiful view of lake from our site. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Santa Fe Trail COE in a Motorhome.

Concordia Airport Park, Concordia, Kansas

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Hidden gem just close to highway and shopping. Stayed here to visit friends and family and couldn't believe how nice it was. Very small park (20 slots) on a first come first serve (no reservation) basis. Water/electric and a dump station but most of the slots are concrete pad. Best parts are: (1)no charge (donation only - run by city (2) adjacent to the largest and nicest dog park we've ever seen in a RV Park (or most cities that we've noticed) and (3) right across the street from from a super WalMart so you don't even have to unhook your tow car if you don't want. Acres of nice shaded walking area to walk your pooch or just enjoy the outdoors. Note: it's adjacent to their airport but very little plane noise due to size of town. Arrive early if possible as slots tend to fill up but you can't beat the price! We camped at Concordia Airport Park in a Motorhome.

Denver East / Strasburg KOA, Strasburg, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Am going to give this park an "E" for effort. The biggest downside is that it's VERY noisy being right next to the interstate - trucks driving by all night long. On the plus side - the staff is very friendly, a decent dog park, easy maneuvering to the camp sites, etc. They are also improving some of the sites - landscaping, fake grass outside your door, etc. If it weren't for the road noise this park would be very good. Decent spot to stop for a night or so. We camped at Denver East / Strasburg KOA in a Motorhome.

Fort Collins North / Wellington KOA, Wellington, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Convenient to the interstate, this KOA is fairly basic without a lot of perks. WiFi basically non-existent (it's not rocket science to fix this - just add a few more routers and antennas). The overall appearance of the park is a little rough (not much attempt to grow grass rather than weeds). Park is obviously used for RV storage as well as there's an entire row of RVs at the side with weeds/grass all around - we were a little hesitant to walk our dog in that area. On the plus side, sites are mainly pull through (gravel/grass sites) and enough room between so you don't feel jammed. We realize KOAs have a lot of different levels of camps (Journey/Holiday, etc), but this camp is quite a bit lower in quality than another camp about 10 miles away, that we can't understand why there's not more price difference between them (just our opinion). We camped at Fort Collins North / Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.
