El Reno West KOA, El Reno, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Our place was a pull through. Very narrow. Hardly enough space for slide outs. Not enough room for picnic table between rigs. Had to put at front of space. OK for over night. Will not stay here again. We camped at El Reno West KOA in a Motorhome.

Oakwood RV Park, Clear Lake, Iowa

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Our site was very long and level. We got a satellite friendly site. Over the air TV was good. We were next to the "telephone" booth which had a WiFi AP so our internet was good. Good laundry, honor system $2.00 per load.

Side by side utilities, but we did not have any one next to us. We camped at Oakwood RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Surf Ballroom is about 5 miles away and worth seeing. The site of the plane crash , Richie Valens, Big Bopper, Buddy Holly is just a short drive north of town. The area of the crash site was muddy and had lots of mosquitoes. We were lead to our site by the camp host.

This is a hidden gem. Park looks new. Our site was gravel, level, wide and grass between sites. Utilities within easy reach. We will definitely stay here again. Hopefully on the weekend. New Frontier RV Park & Campground, Presho, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are more hard-pack than gravel, could be a mess if it is rainy. utilities are side by side, so close neighbors are possible, but doubt the park is often that full. Be aware of immature trees with low branches that can interfere with your slide outs when you position your rig. Choose your site carefully. We had a bit of trouble with internet, but phone call to owners quickly resolved, then excellent signal. Nice park for overnight, might stay again. We camped at New Frontier RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Sioux City North KOA, North Sioux City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Nice, as you would expect from a KOA. escorted to our site, All the services available. Spaces are fairly close, but acceptable. We had to get help from the office with the WiFi commercial service. Young man immediately dispatched to our unit, he cleverly forced the search engine to go to a nonexistent website, which forced the service to display their logon screen, and we were good to go. lots of cable channels on TV, plenty of kid friendly amenities we did not need or want. Decent areas to walk pets, especially the bike/ped path along local road out front. Yes, there is traffic noise, that's the trade off when you want to be close to your route. We'd stay here again. We camped at Sioux City North KOA in a Motorhome.

Longview Lake Campground, Lee's Summit, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed overnight because our first choice, a private park, was full up for a rally. SO glad we found this park instead. It is a county park, but you'd never know it. we had a pull through with full hook up, including sewer at our site. campsites arranged in loops around huge open fields. The lake is beautiful, but we were enroute to another destination, so did not get to explore local area. Over air TV good, clear line of site for satellite. did not use bath or laundry. We camped at Longview Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

you can make reservations online by registering with Jackson County (strange, but it works great) and that lets you pick a specific available site for your travel date and select your amenities.

but CALL the office to get directions to the park. As other reviewers have noted, GPS units, and Google maps do not correctly recognize some recent traffic calming devices. unless you enjoy endless roundabouts in a local residential neighborhood, of course.

TeePee Campground & RV Park, Rapid City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Clean, well managed park. Central location for Rushmore, Badlands, Devils Tower, et. al. No cable tv, but over air local channels clear, and our satellite worked perfectly. North-facing full hook up sites are gravel. there are some sites with side by side utilities, during high season if doubled up, the south-facing sites are grass. Low season, the owners only assign the north facing spaces, so we had a double sized site with picnic table, room for our tow vehicle beside our MH and plenty of grass for the dog. Stayed for a week, we would definitely stay here again. We camped at TeePee Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Ask the park owners for advice! They had great maps, visitor brochures, and some insider suggestions on what is worth paying for and what might not be worth the price. We would have missed Needles Hwy and Iron Mountain road without their suggestions.

Firehouse Brewery downtown Rapid City has an excellent pork tenderloin sandwich.
