Silver Canoe Campground, Rural Valley, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Nice little campground, probably one of the nicest private campgrounds I've stayed in. Owners live on site and are constantly working making things even better. Sites available under trees or wide open. Sites are not tabletop flat but most are well within range, a few will take more effort to level. Watched a 35'-ish motorhome back in to a site just today, a few spots from me. He was in and level in five minutes. Beautiful tent sites with privacy, some with electric. Catch and release lake with paddle boat and canoe rentals. Kids' playground. Sand volleyball court. Planned events (campground hosted a nice Father's Day brunch recently.) Very well equipped camp store with attached small cafe (great milkshakes!) New game room. Heated pool. Laundry. Very well equipped live bait shack that sees a lot of local traffic for those fishing in Keystone lake (1/2 mile away). Free wifi that for the most part works pretty well, I clocked about 750K speed which is what they advertise for free). Higher speed (about 4mb) available for purchase. Cell service works but spotty. In my 50 amp rig with both ACs and the dryer running voltage is steady at 120. Regarding big rigs, I'm in a 37' fifth wheel and had no trouble with plenty of room for my truck once disconnected. I saw 40' fifth wheels and 37' motorhomes. I used to own a 38' motorhome and would have no trouble at many or even most of the sites. The sites in the open area would easily take even the largest motorhomes or trailers, the upper wooded areas are doable but tighter Definitely coming back next year. Note: following a GPS can be problematic in this area - it will get you there but might route you on some not so RV friendly roads. The campground is on highway 210 - get there from highway 422 or highway 85, do NOT take Fisher Farm Road or 1st, 2nd 3rd or 4th street or Sagamore Blvd from Rural Valley through Sagamore. Sounds complicated but it's not, just have a quick look at Google maps before you head up. We camped at Silver Canoe Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Ramblin Rose RV Park, Santa Rosa, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

EVery adequate spot for the night. They have very limited 50A so count on 30, good voltage on 30. Very old park run by pleasant and polite family. Train close by but wasn't bothered inside rig. Note that park is located on the west side of 54 - Google had it right but GPS was wrong. This place had everything I needed for a quick 1 night stay. We camped at Ramblin Rose RV Park in a Motorhome.

Harbor Vista Park, Florence, Oregon

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

A pretty park literally carved out of the natural vegetation creating thick hedges between sites. Interior roads are narrow and tight for bigger rigs, I'd say we were approaching the max at 38'. Had difficulty manuevering into site without scraping brush. We camped at Harbor Vista Park in a Motorhome.

Siuslaw/Cape Perpetua, Yachats, Oregon

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

A small but very nice park tucked in next to a creek, every site backs to the creek. Campground hosts were helpful during checkin and cheerful thereafter when we saw them. Some sites are almost completely private others more open to the campground road and adjacent sites. We did not encounter issues with excess cars or tents near the road. We were the only motorhome, couple trailers and the rest tents. Sites have some slope so leveling will likely require blocks - our front wheels are 6" off the ground. Beautiful, and I mean stunningly beautiful trails to hike, most easy. Trails vary from old growth forest to tide pools. The town of Yachats ("ya-Hots" I think) is just 3 miles away for supplies and/or lunch/dinner out if desired. We enjoyed our stay here and would return. We camped at Siuslaw/Cape Perpetua in a Motorhome.

Fort Stevens State Park, Hammond, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Mosquitoes!! As previous reviewers have stated, a very nice park but who cares if you're swarmed every time you step outside. Looks like there are nice places to walk but no way we're doing that. Park even sent an email a few weeks before we arrived stating they would be doing mosquito abatement but if they did it was completely ineffective. Spoke with locals in RV shop who told me the park is known for mosquitoes. Standing water in several places in park so no surprise. Leaving a day early and won't be back unless I read reviews that the issue has been addressed. Did I mention the mosquitoes? We camped at Fort Stevens State Park in a Motorhome.

Willard Bay State Park- Cottonwood Campground, Willard, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Could be a nice location but too close to the freeway, substantial noise! We spent only one quick night with air conditioning running, and for that it was adequate. I would consider this place again for an en route stop, but would never choose this as a "destination park" - it would not be enjoyable outside due to the constant noise. Note that many of the pull thru's require that you go the "wrong way" down the loop so be aware as . Note also that it is 30 amp service, so with temps in the 90's, ran the generator until sundown so we could run both AC's. We camped at Willard Bay State Park- Cottonwood Campground in a Motorhome.
