Munising / Pictured Rocks KOA, Munising, Michigan

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Very close to Grand Island ferry, Munising, and Pictured Rocks NS. Deep woods, in September wasn't too crowded. Great alternative to Tourist RV park which was very busy and looked to be very smoky from all the firewood being sold. We camped at Munising / Pictured Rocks KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Newberry Campground (formerly Newberry KOA), Newberry, Michigan

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park, typical KOA quality, deep shade from many maple trees, I'll bet it is gorgeous when the fall colors come in. Great temperatures in September, unfortunately had to close up and use AC because of all the smoky campfires built from wet wood dragged and hacked from the surrounding woods. Great laundry, restrooms and showers except the shower area needs more ventilation to dry it out a little. WiFi worked great, very important when exploring the area or planning the next leg. We camped at Newberry Campground (formerly Newberry KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

Good central location for a quick visit. Soo locks, Shipwreck Museum, Valley Camp Museum, lighthouses, Lake Superior beaches. Eat white fish, gotta do it. IGA in Newberry but buy diesel on Hwy 28.

Shelby Country Inn & RV Park, Shelby, Iowa

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Easy access from the freeway but the signs directing RV registration were confusing. WiFi did not work except next to the office at the inn. The restrooms and showers were in need of basic servicing. Very tight spaces but the park was nearly empty so spacing was fine. The sites were level but the key to turn on the water had to be turned with pliers because the valve was so tight. The sewer and water connections were very close together which is never a good idea. We camped at Shelby Country Inn & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

All Seasons Mobile Home & RV Park, Great Bend, Kansas

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

As the name says, this is a mobile home park that can accommodate some RVs. We changed locations because of the site access and as a result had no wifi. Quiet, surrounded by many mobile homes that appeared abandoned. Site was level and the young guy helping us get in position was very helpful but we won't be back. We camped at All Seasons Mobile Home & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Corral Drive-In RV Park, Guymon, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Who would have thought Guymon, OK would have such a great place to stay? Everything has been said already. Clean, well-laid out, an actual operational drivein theater with the skeletons of old cars providing flashbacks, friendly staff, immaculate restrooms, and level sites. We camped at Corral Drive-In RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tall Texan Campground, Gunnison, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Many well-maintained cottonwoods in the park so good shade. As stated in other reviews, Wifi was very spotty, whether from coverage or folks streaming videos when I only wanted to check weather, stuff to do, or restaurants: frustrating. Restrooms/showers probably undersized for the size of the park but very clean. Park is very convenient to Crested Butte and everything in the Gunnison valley. Very limited fire rings which was great - no smoke haze hanging over the whole park. Sites were tight but we tend to get out and stay away all day anyway. We camped at Tall Texan Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Garlic Mike's is a great Italian restaurant only 0.3 miles away. One can walk there and stagger home. Mario's Pizza in town is a great hole-in-the-wall. If there is a rainy day, go to the pioneer museum in town - great local history. Beer selection is better at Safeway than Citi Mart.

Raton KOA, Raton, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Hosts are super friendly, very accommodating, guided us to our site though there is plenty of room to maneuver.

Great mountain views here, very quiet.

If you are debating staying in Raton (New Mexico) or Trinidad (Colorado): don't, unless you are interested in Colorado's recreational vegetation. The Trinidad RV parks are really bad, do not compare to this one. We camped at Raton KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Wyatt's Hideaway Campground, Belle Fourche, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Great little park, quiet, rural, many trees, level sites. Did not use the laundry but it seemed adequate. Manager was very friendly, led us in, then provided a wealth of information on what to do and eat. Some very friendly dogs acted as social hosts. We camped at Wyatt's Hideaway Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Hardin KOA, Hardin, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Level gravel sites, easy access, RVs were spaced if possible with an empty space between, beautiful rural setting surrounded by hay and beet fields, quiet, decent laundry facilities, pool and hot tub were open but we did not use. Hardin is nearby with IGA grocery, fuel, and auto parts as needed. Multi-colored rabbits hopping around. Really. We camped at Hardin KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Do not miss the Hardin County museum. A lot of local history, native American artifacts and an amazing collection of antique trucks and tractors if you like that type of thing. We spent the morning there. The Custer museum in Garryowen is a must-see also, with many rare artifacts including from Custer and Sitting Bull. And take the time to listen to the ranger talks at the Little Bighorn Battlefield unless you are a recognized expert on the subject.

Custer's Gulch RV Park, Custer, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful, gorgeous park, tucked in a little valley with lots backing right up to the National Forest. Very clean, surrounded by pines in a very historic setting. Great location for all the local sights, about 3 miles from Custer for all needed supplies. A constructed wetland in the center of the park is a draw for turtles, marmots, black-winged blackbirds, and Canadian geese. Sites are level and very spacious. Quiet, no road or rail noise, UTV/ATV traffic was there but did not affect us at all. The only issue is that the narrow valley seemed to trap smells so instead of leaving our windows open in the great June weather, we turned on the AC so we would not have to share the wood smoke (and plastic is always thrown into campfires), cigar smoke, and the slight stench of sewage all night long. We camped at Custer's Gulch RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tower 64 Motel & RV, Trinidad, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Level concrete pad to park on but very tight, slides may prevent the adjacent site from being occupied. Owner was very friendly and helpful but the shower/restroom was minimal, required a key for each entry, and was littered with painting supplies, etc. Price was a high for what it was, minimal amenities: no picnic table, no grill, no cable but wifi was pretty good and a lot of CO over-the-air channels. Price probably reflected Memorial Day weekend crowds but with tire problems we were happy to find a place to stay though Walmart may have been a better option. We camped at Tower 64 Motel & RV in a Travel Trailer.

Buffalo Hills Campground, Sterling, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Nice pull-through sites on dirt/gravel with shade trees. Level side to side but some front to back leveling needed, so had to disconnect for a one night stand. Utilities were very well located. Some freeway noise and a train in the middle of the night but beautiful sunset, and other campers were quiet except for some workers leaving early. Did not use the available pool but it looked fine. Fort Davis Motor Inn, Fort Davis, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The WiFi is the best service we've found, second to none. No amenities to speak of but we park, connect, and only use the park as a base. Great cable, more than we needed. Great shade for each site, good feature in the high desert. Spaces require backing in but huge room to maneuver. Utilities were in the right place and no issues with them. Not many sites and the bathrooms/showers/laundry were minimal but clean and functional. The rate seemed a little high compared to others in the area but nice to have 24 hour service at the front desk. Gorgeous baby girl in a walker helping at check in. We camped at Fort Davis Motor Inn in a Travel Trailer.

Chalk Creek Campground & RV Park, Nathrop, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

High priced for what it is. We only had electric hookup. And pay for showers on top of that? A lot of traffic noise in lower lot where we were if you aren't right on the creek. But in the fall one can close windows. A lot of shade and fall colors in the lower lot which was nice. Wish campfires were not allowed, the smoke was very present in the evenings. Didn't see any operators. Had to search out the camp host for the WiFi code. WiFi was very good. We camped at Chalk Creek Campground & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
