Weather Rock Campground, Haubstadt, Indiana

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

As stated in other reviews there aren't many RV parks in the area so for the price this one is satisfactory. We stayed 1 month for $420. which included 522 kwh of elec, 30 amp. Campground info states they have WiFi at each site which is true, but the quality is questionable at best. We did get things done but patience is required. The sites are grass/dirt, roads gravel. The playground for the kids could have been awesome, lots of play statues, etc but the upkeep is non existent. In short if you are not expecting a lot this will work. We camped at Weather Rock Campground in a Motorhome.

Evansville is a great shopping and dining city, about 15 min away. I-64 is close by so it will work for overnighters

Mission Dolores RV Park, San Augustine, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for four nights on our way back to Illinois after spending the winter in the RGV. Liked this park very much and if ever in the area again will definitely stop here. All sites are full-hookup but we picked site 24 because it is out in the open and our satellite dish on the roof worked great here but there are many shaded sites as well. Wifi worked very well too. Streets and sites are paved so it was very clean. Garbage cans at almost every other site. We camped at Mission Dolores RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to go to the museum which is 1/2 mile or so on the other side of the highway. This is a quaint little town which takes one back 50 years or so and away from the rat race. We went to Imogenes restaurant in town for breakfast. Good at a reasonable price.

Sherman Oaks Campground, Dandridge, Tennessee

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

After reading the other reviews, almost didn't come but there were several attractions we wanted to see and this park was convenient to them and with Passport America the price was good. We didn't find a problem with staying here. Level sites, good elec, wifi could have been better but ok. As a place to stay while touring the area (we were gone most of the day) it works. We camped at Sherman Oaks Campground in a Motorhome.

Mercer County Fairgrounds, Celina, Ohio

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

This is an excellent value especially if you have Passport America or Good Sam which gives you 50% discount. Mercer Co residents pay $15. Others pay $20. That is full price. There are some sites on blacktop but most are on grass. I would have given the park a higher rating but because of the lack of showers I didn't. We camped at Mercer County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

St. Albans Roadside Park, Saint Albans, West Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2015
Overall Rating:

This is an excellent stop over for a night or two. We came expecting to leave a donation in the box but the donation box had tape over it. A policeman drove through and I asked him about it. He notice the taped-over box but said he didn't know anything about it and didn't seem interested. During summer a 2 night max is enforced and maybe the drop box is working. This time of year we were told you can stay longer. There is a dump station and fresh water as you come in. There are 3 pull-through sites which can handle at most a 32 ft unit. Each with 15 & 30 amp plugs. There seem to be more open area on the other side of the park for larger units with 2 or 3 electric outlets.

The only negative is the 4 lane divided highway in front of where you park, but it does quiet down at night. The view of the river on the other side is beautiful.

HikingRooster reports:The other units reported on the other side of the park are in the marina and are not for public use. The city uses those spots to park special use vehicles. We camped at St. Albans Roadside Park in a Motorhome.
