Tillis Hill Recreation Area, Brooksville, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

The main road to get to the campsite is a lime rock type road about a mile or so, go slow or you'll rock everything out of your cabinets. Once you get to the campgrounds it's very nice, the sites are easy to back into and the parking pads are nice. There is water, electric hookup, picnic table and fire ring with flip over grill. The site are spacious and in view of others but still have enough room between sites. The bathrooms were clean and well kept. There were plenty of stables and were very nice with easy access..perfect for equestrian needs. We will definitely be camping here again! We camped at Tillis Hill Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Ocala National Forest / Salt Springs Rec Area, Fort McCoy, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

The staff was friendly and helpful from the moment we drove in. You can walk into the office where there is a sitting area usually used for anyone needing the free WiFi access because it's rare you get any signal once you pass that point, you will however get a ton of TV stations. They also have ice and a few things you might need for the camper. The spaces are very nice and clean when you arrive, they're concrete with "FULL HOOKUP" (Yay!!!). It was quiet both day and at night but there's nothing that divides you from the neighbors it's completely open but we didn't have a problem with it. If you have overnight quests that are unable to park in your area there's an overflow parking area within walking distance of the sites. The springs are really nice (drive there though), there is a roped off area for swimming that doesn't allow alcohol although if you go to the other side of the rope there are usually boats and people hanging out in tubes, canoes and kayaks playing music and socializing..that's where you can drink if you so desire. If you come out of the park and turn left about a 1/4 of a mile (maybe not even that far) on the left there's boat, kayak and canoe rentals and you can get to the springs from there to. You can also launch your boat from there with access to Lake George. There's a gas station, a small grocery store and a large ice machine nearby. Not a lot of shopping or restaurants but that's a good thing sometimes. Enjoy your time there, we did! We camped at Ocala National Forest / Salt Springs Rec Area in a Travel Trailer.

Blue Spring State Park, Orange City, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

The site was clean but on somewhat of a down slope. We never could get the camper level but we enjoyed our time anyway. There was a large picnic table at the site and a fire ring. The bathrooms were VERY clean with large shower areas. There are a few nice concreted sites that are usually around the bathroom area. There's a hiking trail but bring sunblock and water because it's a fully open trail. There's also a paved bike trail. The boardwalk is canopied and a very nice walk down to the springs. They rent kayaks and canoes in the park area and there's a boat tour available. The park also has pavilions with grill areas. There are also cabins you can rent in the park but I'm not sure of the prices. We went the first week in June so the springs were "cold" (to a Floridian) but the weather was amazing for camping. We camped at Blue Spring State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Curry Hammock State Park, Marathon, Florida

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

The sites were very spacious and clean. There are other campers within view but still far enough away. There are iguanas everywhere and will come around the campsite, they're curious but won't come close enough to touch (which is s good thing). We had a few crab holes around the site which was cool to see that far up from the water. The bathrooms were clean but were having work done to them when we were there so the water temperature was touch and go.. the work should be done by now though. There's a small park with a beach area within walking distance and I believe they rent kayaks from there. There's shopping, grocery and fast food nearby and some really nice restaurants with awesome sunsets. Key West is a short drive away, with the money we saved by staying at the park and not in Key West we were able to take many day excursions. We camped at Curry Hammock State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Little Talbot State Park, Jacksonville, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

I really wish I could rate this higher and maybe if we had came at another time it would've been different. This was around the time of a passing hurricane so the camp area was mushy wet from the abnormally high tides just going out, the picnic table had so much algae on it that it wasn't useable at all. Other camp sites had standing water around the tents, thank goodness we had a travel trailer! You couldn't use enough bug spray, the mosquitos had rib cages..but we made the best of it for the time we were there. There was a nearby boat ramp to the marsh area and the beach area wasn't that far of a drive. You could also rent kayaks up the road. We camped at Little Talbot State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tomoka State Park, Ormond Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

The campsite was clean and level with water and electric hookup. The staff was very helpful and came through the park throughout the day; the camp host was very knowledgable about the park area. There's saltwater fishing, nature trails and a very nice waterside store for minor things. There are waterside tables and seating to watch the sunset on the river. Overall a very nice park that you can unwind at. We camped at Tomoka State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Blythe Island Regional Park Campground, Brunswick, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The staff was amazingly helpful with southern hospitality. One of the staff was outstanding with his knowledge of the local fishing and tides; they will also bring firewood to your site! The sites were very clean and level, we had site 41 and the other couple had 42 so if you're going with 2 campers these are perfect wide open sites with FULL hookups. It was very quiet and peaceful and other campers were friendly as they passed by. We didn't use the bathrooms, which were only a campsite away, but they were spotless. The pond is good for bass fishing and you can rent a John boat or kayak..no gas motors, the Brunswick River is just on the other side of the park that's good for salt water fishing. We felt safe with the security circling often, we will definitely be going back and will recommend it to others. We camped at Blythe Island Regional Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Wekiwa Springs State Park, Apopka, Florida

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

The site was very clean and level. There were other campers within view but they were quiet. We didn't use the shower facilities but they were within walking distance. There was water and electricity hookup and the dump station was at the entrance of the loop with dumpsters. The spring water swim area was nice but can get crowded during the day. They have kayak rentals and you can bring your own but be warned, you will carry it quite a distance to the launch area but once you get there the river is really quiet and such a nice relaxing ride. You can also stop at the bar on the water for food and drinks. You'll see a lot of gopher tortoises and while we were sitting at our site a young buck casually walked by and later some wild turkeys. Overall it was a very nice stay and we will go back again. We camped at Wekiwa Springs State Park in a Travel Trailer.
