Grand Sierra Resort RV Park, Reno, Nevada

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We booked this after reading mostly positive reviews. This was our most expensive booking for our 5 week trip ($60 plus a Resort Fee). It was a splurge that we were looking forward to. We arrived tired after driving in from Red Bluff, CA (lots of steep grades). When we arrived, it did not live up to any of our expectations. The park was mostly empty on a Sunday night, the asphalt was deteriorated and large potholes were difficult to avoid. Our space, extra long and 50 amp was full of weeds, as were all the others around us. A regular parking lot would have been nicer. The site was level and we didn't mind the airplane noise. The interior of the hotel was very nice and the hotel pool area was impressive, especially if you like a Spring Break type party atmosphere. Cracked asphalt with lots of weeds, and large potholes in the roads. The "RV Resort" is truly the ugly step-child that should only be booked at a deep deep discount until renovations and maintenance are performed. Otherwise, Stay Away! We camped at Grand Sierra Resort RV Park in a Motorhome.

Doheny State Beach, Dana Point, California

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in site # 11 in a 34 ft Class A with slides. We felt very lucky to get this last site when we booked it months in advance, and we were very happy with the park and its proximity to the beach! Our only concern to pass on is the width of this site and a few others in the park. We had just a few inches to spare on either side, had to lift branches to get the slides out, and no room for a tow vehicle to park. Highly recommend this park, but look on the map for sites that show an extra side parking spot if you have a choice. We camped at Doheny State Beach in a Motorhome.

Malibu Beach RV Park, Malibu, California

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $95.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed two nights in an ocean view spot. Our site had a great view of the ocean, but was a bit tricky to back into. Fortunately the adjacent sites were empty at the time. It was easier to level our rig this time, last stay put our wheels off the ground. This was our second stay here, so we definitely like the location. Previous reviews mention the office staff can be rude. Well, it does depend on who you interact with in the office. Most of the folks were great! We camped at Malibu Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.
