Toledo East / Stony Ridge KOA, Perrysburg, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Stoney Ridge/Toledo KOA, Perrysburg, Ohio This KOA campground is not exactly a good representative for the brand. It is a mix of back-in and pull-through sites, some with full hook-ups, some with water and electricity, some dry, and some tent sites. There is a dump station on site, and they sell propane. There is a small pool that is open seasonally. Trash pick-up on site several times daily. The back-in sites with 200 and 300 numbers are back-to-back with shared utility pedestals and the back end of the site. The sites are narrow gravel/soil and not very level. They are very close together, so there is not much chance of privacy when outside. Roads are gravel with lots of holes - holes that holds rainwater for days. Access to the back-in sites can be a problematic because of the right-angle lay-out and narrow roads. The pull-through sites are much better - long enough for big rigs, and they seem fairly level. We camped at Toledo East / Stony Ridge KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Front Royal RV Campground, Front Royal, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Dilapidated former KOA accessed by a long and narrow road through the field of a farm where cows are roaming. The entire place is in different levels of disrepair and neglect. Bathrooms are dirty and lit by a single bulb hanging from the ceiling. Clubhouse is used for storage and can't be utilized. Mini golf is broken and the pool is in such a shape that I wouldn't use it. All in all, this is a park to stay away from. We camped at Front Royal RV Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Happy Trails RV Park, Lebanon, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

All gravel pull thru sites in different lengths. Mostly level. The park seems to go into disrepair, and the facilities needs to be maintained better. Some noise from the highway, but not excessive. OK for a overnight stay while travelling, but IMO not a destination park. We camped at Happy Trails RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Binder Park, Jefferson City, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Great little park with nice wide and level concrete pads. Clean bathhouse and cheap laundry. Camphost was very nice and helpful, and provided a lot of good information about what to see and do in Jefferson City. $ 18 pr night for full hook up is cheap! Only 7 miles from state capitol and 3 miles from major shopping and restaurants. We camped at Binder Park in a Travel Trailer.

North Lake Estates, Lakeport, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We spent the month of January 2016 in North Lakes Estates in our travel trailer. It is located in the countryside at Lakeport on Lake Okeechobee, but you never see the lake because it is surrounded by levies all the way around. The park is not really set up for travelers and have only a few spots that are not occupied by park models with an abundance of add-ons like enclosed patios, Florida rooms, sheds and carports. The spot we had was hard to back into, and had our trailer been just a little longer, we would never have fit in there. We had both power and water outages during our stay, and the WiFi and internet only works occasionally. Roads are narrow but paved, and all sites have at least a level concrete pad - some are totally covered in concrete. It seems like everybody has at least one golf cart, and there are many boats parked at the units. There are activities in the club house, but apart from that, there is nothing to do here if you are not a fisherman. We camped at North Lake Estates in a Travel Trailer.

Midway Campground - Big Cypress National Preserve, Ochopee, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

"Awesome!"

This is a real pearl of a campground. 36 big back-in sites with electricity around a central pond where alligators are living. Friendly and efficient camp host on site, and only a 2 mile drive to the Big Cypress Visitor Center. Beautiful situated with big, level grass sites. Very clean restroom (flush toilets) and showers. Will stay there again if our travels takes us this way, and we will then stay for more than one night. We camped at Midway Campground - Big Cypress National Preserve in a Travel Trailer.

Flamingo Campground (NPS Campground), Homestead, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

The individual sites on the T loop are huge with a level concrete pad to park on and otherwise it is all grass. Roads are good, and it is easy to maneuver with all pull-thru sites. Electricity is steady without any fluctuations. We camped at Flamingo Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Experience the special nature in the Everglades. Ranger led bird and wild life viewing tours and boat tours in the back crountry as well as on Florida Bay. Boat tours are rather pricey ($35 pr. person for a 90 min. tour).

Make sure to bring plenty mosquito repellant or you will stay inside your unit most of the times.

Southern Comfort RV Resort, Florida City, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for 2 nights over New Years Eve. Park is tightly packed with narrow spots and very narrow roads, making it difficult to get in and out. Had to ask the guest across from our spot to move his truck to make it possible for me to hitch up.

The site is on grass with a small concrete patio. There are many huge tree roots under the grass, making it impossible to put the stakes for the awning straps into the ground.

The picnic table was an old wooden thing that was completely deformed of age and the high humidity.

Great location with shopping and restaurants within 5 minutes from the park. We camped at Southern Comfort RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Twin Lakes Camp Resort, Defuniak Springs, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at Twin Lakes for a couple of days. The park is currently under renovation, and once it is done, it will be a wonderful place to be. Right on the lake shore, quiet and tranquil. The concrete pads are wide and level, with all new electric, water, and sewer system in place. Club house and pool is done, but the toilet and shower facilities are not yet finished. We camped at Twin Lakes Camp Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Pontchartrain Landing, New Orleans, Louisiana

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Located in a abandoned industrial area with very bad road to the campground. Sites are crushed concrete and not level at all. Some areas have very little of the concrete stuff on them, and it tends to get muddy. The sites are cramped and very close together, and there are many full time tenants that don't keep their spaces neat. Nice staff in the office, and a nice restaurant on the premises. We felt secure behind the gates but it is not an area you want to go for a walk. Wi-Fi didn't work at all during our 5 day stay, even though we were told that they were working on it. The pictures on the website are not representative of what you get.

The $6 shuttle to town is a nice touch, and the driver was right on time every day. We will not stay at this campground again. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Travel Trailer.
