Golden Village Palms RV Resort , Hemet, California

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

This is truly a resort RV park. Large RV park with level cement pads & patios, FHU-50 amp. Most are back-ins but they also have some pull-thru's. All sites are separated by bushes or trees to provide some privacy. Wifi. Cable. 3 pools & 2 hot tubs. Beautiful! Pickle ball courts and much more. Internal roads are good for big rigs. Located in downtown Hemet but is quiet. Great place and would love to stay here again. We camped at Golden Village Palms RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Pony Express RV Resort, North Salt Lake, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This RV park had the potential to be a 10...level cement pads with patios and picnic tables, pull-thru, FHU-50 amp, cable, wifi, pool. But the owners/builders squished way too many sites into this park and the reservation people do not understand sizes needed for the rigs. Big Rigs...verify you have an Executive Site (75-77') or a Premium Site (66'). The problem is that those are the nicest, widest, and longest sites and anyone can reserve them so we saw many very small rigs in these sites also. Reservations assigned us a site much too small for us and by the time we arrived and realized the problem all the larger sites were reserved. It was only by the Grace of God that we got into our site without damage and, even then, barely had room for our slides. Our truck had to be parked quite a distance away. We had to be in this area for a few days or we would have left when we saw the size we had been assigned. Don't be fooled by the names "Deluxe Plus" and "Deluxe"...these are small and squished together. Also, park has a lot of road noise as it is surrounded by freeways. We camped at Pony Express RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Western Hills Campground, Rawlins, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Long, level, pull-thru, FHU-50 amp site. Good internal roads for big rigs. Picnic table. No Cable (web site and ads are incorrect). Antenna found only 2 channels. Wifi. EZ on and off I-80 freeway but far enough away to be quiet. Can be windy. Had power issue initially but eventually this cleared up. Some low areas for mud puddles. Would stay here again if passing through this area. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Country View Campground, Ogallala, Nebraska

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Small, very nice RV park. Long, level gravel pull-thru sites with FHU-50 amp. (Also have 30 amp sites.) Check-in staff very nice and friendly staff lead you to your site. Quiet. Wifi. Cable. Small laundry. Pool. Good internal roads for big rigs. Warning...some GPS will lead you astray (ours did)! Take I-80 exit 126, go 1/2 mile south (away from downtown), and turn at John Deere dealer. Close to freeway with EZ on and off but far enough to be quiet. Very much enjoyed staying here and will look forward to staying again! We camped at Country View Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Camp A Way, Lincoln, Nebraska

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

Expensive but very nice Rv park! Long, level, wide gravel sites. FHU-50 amp. Cable. Wifi. Hot tub! Pool. Near freeway but our site near the center of the park was quiet. A friend stayed near the outer part and complained of road noise. Lots of kid activities. Would be a fun family place. We were able to stay only one night; would have enjoyed staying longer. Would stay here again as long as could have a site near the office. We camped at Camp A Way in a Fifth Wheel.

Long, level gravel pull-thru, full hook-up, 50 amp. Somewhat close to neighbors. Has pool but had no water when we were there. Wifi. No cable but antenna picked up a number of stations. Elkhart County Fairgrounds, Goshen, Indiana

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

There are different sections of this park. Some sites on in grass; some are on gravel. We stayed in the gravel section. FHU-50 amp. Ours was a long, level site; others were not as long. Back-in. Good internal roads. No wifi or cable. Antenna picks up a number of stations. Water management is an issue. We had a lot of rain and some sites flooded but it went down quickly. Many sites had water pooling. Train noise is fairly constant. We probably would come here only with a rally. We camped at Elkhart County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Mark Twain Cave Campground, Hannibal, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Long pull-thru's with FHU-50 amp. Very unlevel sites - tires way off the ground on one side. Quiet. AT&T and Verizon phone and hot spot dead zones. Camp wifi good at times, others not. Internal roads are good for big rigs. Lots of trees and there are hills on both sides of RV park but satellite and antenna reception was good. Fireplace. Picnic table. Would stay here again if in this area but would see if there are more level sites. We camped at Mark Twain Cave Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Fleming Park/Blue Springs Campground, Blue Springs, Missouri

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Big rigs should avoid this campground. Sites are small. Internal road is extremely narrow and are one way only. All back-in sites must be entered from the driver's blind side. In the one site that supposedly fits a big rig (but it really doesn't), the tree is low and almost damaged our rig. No cable or wifi. The only exit is also the dump. If two rigs are dumping everyone must wait for them to finish before they can leave. It was a horrible experience and we definitely will not stay here again. Oak Grove RV Park, Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are very hard to get into for big rigs; one or more rigs were damaged while we were there. Most sites are back-in. There are pull-thru sites, but they park two to a pull-thru site so yours is pull-thru only if you arrive first. Second rig has to be backed into site. Uneven asphalt sites; some wheels were off the ground. FHU-50 amp. Lots of trees; satellite hard. Cable available only with a box with requires a $60 cash deposit. TV antenna picked up only a couple of stations - none of the major ones. Wifi is available but the password is so complex and has to be reentered so frequently that we gave up. Branson is very hilly; be sure to follow an RV GPS when towing. Park has new owners who are working hard to get it fixed up. We camped at Oak Grove RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Expensive. Loud freeway noise. FHU-50 amp with long, level gravel pull-thru's. All sites are pull-thru's. Grass in between sites. Picnic table. Fire ring. Nicely maintained. Some sites have trees, others not. No cable; a few TV stations available via antenna. Wifi. Internal roads are good for big rigs. On property is a cute little zoo with small donkeys, ducks, turkeys, geese, and a cow. Office is closed from 12:30-3. If you've reserved ahead, the site assignment is posted. Would be a nice place if it weren't so close to the freeway. EZ on and off for a one-night stop, but is very noisy. We camped at Checotah / Lake Eufaula West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Gravel sites; most are back-ins but some are pull-thrus. Some back-ins are hard to get into. Many sites are unlevel and many rigs had wheels off the ground after leveling. FHU-50 amp. Good wifi. No cable. Quiet. Cement patios with picnic table. Internal roads OK for big rigs. Satellite hard due to trees. A few TV channels available by antenna. Neighbor's sewer was right next to our door but not all sites were like this. Many rigs are left here "full time" as vacation homes for people who live elsewhere. This made it difficult for the placement of the rally RVs. Otherwise owners were accommodating for the rally. Some deer, elk, and wild horses near park. We camped at Little Creek RV Village in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Town of Lincoln is excellent for history; Lincoln County Wars (fight over government contracts) attracted such people as Billy the Kid who killed many in this town. It was here Billy killed another 2 when he escaped custody from the courthouse. Other good places: Fort Stanton; grave of the real Smokey the Bear in Capitan; Hubbard Museum of the American West & Free Spirits at Noisy Water; beautiful statues and art at Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort & Casino.
