Swisher Hll Campground, Fairmont, West Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Had trouble finding somewhere to stay near Fairmont, finally found this place listed on the Marion County website. A little hard to find - the street address comes up several blocks away so use the GPS coordinates. The RV park is part of an apartment complex, to get to the RV park you drive up a hill to the top of the property. It's setup for longer term stays but they do accept short term visits. There are two places to park, both flat and completely open gravel drives. The upper lot is surrounded by trees on two sides with a nice grassy area on the third side. So no privacy. Water/electric hookup is in between each site so sometimes might be on the other side to your connections. The lots are 30 feet from sewer hook up to sewer hook up. We enjoyed staying here. It's rural so no city noise, yet not so far from downtown Fairmont or I-79 access that it was inconvenient. We drove to Pricketts Fort in 25 minutes & the Whitehall general area is less than 10 minutes. Lots are wonderfully flat, water hook up is underground. There is a basketball court, covered pavilion and playground. No bath house or laundry facilities. Had good interactions with the people here. Everyone seems to clean up after their dogs & they're all leashed. There are a few long term people here and they keep their spaces tidy. We would stay here again. We camped at Swisher Hll Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Calloway RV and Campground, Hammond, Louisiana

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Was OK to stay overnight, pricey if you don't have Good Sam. Check in was pleasant enough although they're doing some construction on the office. The pool was closed, so we didn't use that, but there was a nice dog run at the front we did use.

Site 1 - 23 are super close together - your electrical/water hookup are right next to the next site's picnic table. Site 46 - 57 are pond side and a bit nicer/roomier. It looked like there were quite a few long time residents but their sites were kept neat & tidy.

Site was perfectly level and the wifi worked well. It rained overnight and there was a lot of standing water when we left so that speaks to the level! The site itself was quiet but close to I-10 and Club Deluxe Rd is busy so a lot of traffic noise. We camped at Calloway RV and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Triple C's Campground & RV Park (Formerly Chattahoochee/Tallahassee W', Chattahoochee, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Loved our stay here and going back again on the way home. Very warm welcome for us & the dogs. The sites aren't perfect but they are level. The road around the park is a little rough but driveable. Great dog run area and some lovely paths through the forest surrounding the park. Close enough to I-10 to make it easy to get to but you don't get traffic noise. The wifi was usable. We camped at Triple C's Campground & RV Park (Formerly Chattahoochee/Tallahassee W' in a Travel Trailer.

Manatee Hammock Campground, Titusville, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park with a large variety of sites. Some paved, some grass. Nice amount of shade and space between sites. Excellent view of the launch sites (we got to see the SpaceX rocket launch while we were here). Level on the sites can be iffy, site 156 was not at all level.

Wifi was awful, could barely check email. Restrooms were kept clean although the women's showers in one block were missing the temperature regulation (i.e. on & hot or off). There were some long term residents but their sites were neat & tidy. The office people were pleasant to interact with.

They have a fantastic dog park on the river side. Lots of squirrels to entertain the dogs too! Great mix of palm & oak trees, bring your own fire ring. We'll be back next year. We camped at Manatee Hammock Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Highlands Hammock State Park, Sebring, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Crowded state park. Sites are quite close together and the layout makes it difficult to walk around (between restrooms) without going through camp sites. There were some sites with pads but mostly it was grass and not very level. Utilities were located in odd places and no sewer connections.

Check in was easy and the rangers we interacted with were pleasant. The camp hosts kept the place neat & tidy.

We won't be back, don't like being so close to others. We camped at Highlands Hammock State Park in a Travel Trailer.
