Dayton KOA, Brookville, Ohio

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived the second day of the season. Due to an unlevel site, we requested a move. Staff responded quickly and we we moved. The manager was great in facilitating the move and came to our site to loosen a very tight sewer cap. Thanks! Roads were fine for us but might be tight for larger RVs. Pool was not open but is large and looks very nice. Restrooms very nice and modern. We camped at Dayton KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We visited Carillon Historical Park and especially wanted to see the Wright brothers museum. It was great! The brewery restaurant in the park had very good food. National Museum of the United States Air Force Is absolutely amazing! This is a free museum. There are four interconnected huge hangers with planes and rockets. Be sure to walk through the presidential airplanes. Great movie entitled Normandy here. There is a cost for movies. Allow 1 day minimum.

Tips for other Campers:

We went to the El Capitan for dinner. Bartender said she would seat us when a table was available. She totally forgot we were waiting. Table Service was just OK, food was very good when we finally got it. There are probably better restaurants in town.

Guadalupe River State Park, Spring Branch, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

A few full hookup sites. Lots of hiking trails. Many are flat and not scenic. The dramatic scenic area is by the river and it would be great when the area "greens up". Apparently many water sports (fishing, canoeing, kayaking) in warmer weather. We camped at Guadalupe River State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Fort Clark Springs, Brackettville, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Unique to stay on the grounds of a former army post. Many army structures remain that are now apartments and private homes. Huge grounds; not all kept up well. RV sites are in a quiet area and office staff was terrific in making our reservation and checking us in. Sites on the outer loop are very close. Inner loop not as close. Roads very good condition and fun to run them along a beautiful creek and wooded areas. Three times we saw a flock of large wild turkeys feeding. Laundry 1.00 for washer or dryer. Third largest spring fed pool is here. It is beautiful and the water very clear. Too cold to swim when we were here. We had a fun visit. Enjoyed our stay! We camped at Fort Clark Springs in a Travel Trailer.

Great Park we have stayed at several times. The park is kept up well. Some sites not level. Easy in and out. Entire park pull through sites. Check in is right as you pull in the RV Park. Safe feeling, city as well as casino patrol here. Usually laundry, but machines broke and brand new ones had not arrived. We camped at Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Owner very friendly and informative of area. When we told her our trailer window in the back was the biggest, she put us in a site without an RV behind us. There was a lovely Mountain View behind us! Tips for other Campers:

Visit Florence, CO for lots of antique stores. Also, several good coffee shops. We liked the Aspen Leaf Bakery and Cafe. The Coyote Den in Penrose is very good for coffee and sandwiches. Check out Juniper Valley for great home cooking in an adobe building. It is on Highway 115 half way between Penrose and Colorado Springs. Check online for hours. Open only three days a week.
