Deer Creek Valley RV Park, Topeka, Kansas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This RV park is one of the cleanest, nicest parks I have ever stayed at. Great service, friendly staff and LOTS of space between sites. Concrete roads and parking pads, grassy areas that are well tended, well lit at night and quiet. There was also a small restaurant/bar in walking distance from the campground. I have two wishes for this campground: wish there were a bit more shade as it was very sunny and hot and the shade would have been nice and wish they had a small section in the store for sundries/groceries. Other than that, it was one of the best campgrounds we've stayed in. Just too bad it's in Kansas who's weather is awful (storms, heavy winds of up to 80 MPH and golf ball size hail). If I ever come through Kansas again (doubtful), I would make it a point to stay here. I would recommend this campground to all RVers. We camped at Deer Creek Valley RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Cahokia RV Parque, Cahokia, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

What a dump. Booked my reservation two months before my arrival and I requested a pull-through since this was just a one night stay on our way home. When I checked in, I was given a back-in site and was expected to disconnect my tow vehicle which I did NOT want to do. I pretty much told the owner that I would NOT disconnect and they put me in a slightly longer site. I also had to request assistance to back into my site since they were so close together. The guy they sent to help knew how to direct me into the spot, but was pretty arrogant and unfriendly. There was a dog behind the desk when I was waiting to check in who was allowed to wander free. He came up behind me and when I offered my hand for the dog to sniff, he snapped at my hand. If your dog is not friendly, it would be best to make sure the dog stays behind the desk. If I had been bitten..... The park itself was very crowded, sites extremely close together and there was always a backup of tow vehicles, cars and RVs waiting to get to their site. The gravel roads were filled with pot holes and there was about a 6 inch drop off from the site to the road, making it difficult to back in to the site. And there were mounds of debris scattered around the campground. Bottom line is I will NEVER stay at this RV park again and strongly suggest that you find a better campground. Far too expensive for what you get and in a run down area. We camped at Cahokia RV Parque in a Travel Trailer.
