Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park & Cabins, West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $90.00
Overall Rating:

Yellowstone is huge so be prepared to do lots of driving. We found this location in West Yellowstone a great place to stay while visiting areas like Old Faithful and Canyon. It was still a long drive though depending on traffic, maybe 45-60 minutes to get to each of those areas. The town of West Yellowstone is a super cute and fun western-themed town. It's a nice walk from the RV park into town to get dinner or shop for souvenirs. The RV park is very nice and clean and the staff is friendly. It's very expensive, but that's to be expected with any RV park near Yellowstone. Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile all worked great. It's a crowded and popular park, so there is not much privacy at the campsite. We camped at Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park & Cabins in a Fifth Wheel.

Ridgway State Park, Ridgway, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We have been traveling full-time for over 4 years, and Ridgway is our favorite state park in the country. There are 3 campgrounds, Pa Co Chu Puk is the only one with full hookups. This campground has beautiful views of the Uncompahgre River. The sites are long and level with a good amount of space between sites. The other 2 campgrounds are 3 miles down the road. Dakota Terraces and Elk Ridge are electric only, but there are water spigots throughout the campgrounds that you can use to fill up your fresh tank. Dakota Terraces is open with little privacy but beautiful views, while Elk Ridge is up on a hill with lots of trees and some privacy between sites. There are beautiful views of the mountains from up on Elk Ridge. We have a 43 ft. 5th wheel and had trouble getting into a pull-thru site on Elk Ridge. Most pull-throughs are long enough, but they have a deep curve in the site making it difficult for a longer rig to get into the site. We had so much trouble getting into site 186 that we ended up getting some help from the camp hosts and park ranger. They were so nice and helpful and I wish I knew their names so I could personally thank each of them. Once we were in the site we loved the view, but with a long rig I would not choose that one again. Instead, there are several back-in sites that are much easier to get into with a big rig. Site 186 was reserved for the weekend so we had to move to 142 which was a back-in and we had no trouble getting into that one; we even had enough room to open the back patio. Ridgway is close to Ouray and Telluride which are great mountain towns to visit. The bike trails at Ridgway are also awesome with some of the most scenic views. If you work remotely like we do and need cell coverage here are the details: Verizon is the only carrier that worked in the Pa Co Chu Puk campground, but the signal is weak. A booster helped though & we had no trouble working from there. Elk Ridge has a great Verizon signal and a pretty good AT&T signal. We camped at Ridgway State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop, Rifle, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

We had an excellent view from our full hookup site #14. Rate does not include the purchase of a CO State Parks annual pass. That or a daily entrance pass is required in addition to the camping rate. We purchased the annual pass in January since we are planning to camp at several CO state parks this year. The lady working at the gate gave my husband a hard time when he drove in to the park a couple of times. She couldn't read the annual pass that was attached to our windshield and practically accused him of not having a valid pass. He had to find the paperwork and prove to her that we really purchased it. Not very pleasant being treated like a liar or cheat when entering the park. Anyway, other than that, the rest of the staff were very nice and friendly. The park is beautiful with well spaced out sites. We travel full time and work remotely, so we rely on cell coverage. Verizon and AT&T data did not work at all, but T-Mobile worked surprisingly well. Verizon phone worked only if we used the phone near our booster. This was a great place to stay to visit Rifle Falls and Glenwood Springs. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Fifth Wheel.

Cherry Creek State Park, Aurora, Colorado

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 3 nights while passing through on our way to Breckenridge for skiing. This was a great location for shopping for ski gear. There was a lot of snow at the campground which was so pretty, and only the Abilene loop was open in January. It was great to have full hookups at a state park. The sites in the Abilene loop are spacious. The camp hosts were so friendly and we enjoyed talking with them. We would definitely stay here again if in the Denver area. Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile all worked well. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Midway Park COE, Waco, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

We loved our stay! Our site #1 was a long back in with a beautiful view of Lake Waco and sunsets. We have a 43 ft 5th wheel and there was plenty of room for our RV and truck and the rear patio. The non-sewer sites were spaced out nicely with plenty of space between sites. The sewer sites were closer together and out by the road so I'm glad we picked a non-sewer site. Access to the park was easy, just off hwy 6. You have to go under a bridge before the entrance if you are traveling west on 6, but the clearance was plenty high enough (we are 13'6"). Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile all worked well there. We camped at Midway Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Gulf Coast RV Resort, Beaumont, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting relatives in the area. It was very convenient, right off I-10. The sites are pretty close together and there is zero privacy, but since we were not at the RV park most of the time as we were visiting people, it didn't matter so much. Check in was easy and friendly. Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile all worked well there. My only complaint is the "kid tax". They charged $4 for one of our kids and $6 for the other one (he is 14 and for some reason they consider that an adult?) I thought that was pretty excessive considering we weren't even at the park most of the time. At least they accept Passport America which helped with the cost. We camped at Gulf Coast RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Buccaneer State Park, Waveland, Mississippi

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We really like this park, but sometimes it can be very buggy. This time we were there in January so the bugs weren't bad at all. Our site #81 was long enough for our 43 ft toy hauler and there was enough room for the rear patio. Our kids enjoyed the frisbee golf course and playground. Check in was quick and easy. We took the advice of other reviewers and took Lakeshore Dr. The railroad crossing on that road is pretty flat compared to the other roads you might take. Verizon and AT&T worked well, but T-Mobile did not. We camped at Buccaneer State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Henderson Beach State Park, Destin, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

The sites at this campground are the most private I have ever seen. We could not even see any neighbors from our site #18. The site was a long pull-through with more than enough space for our 43 ft. toy hauler and we even had room for the rear patio. There is a very nice walking path to the beach, and every evening we enjoyed gorgeous sunsets. The location is perfect for visiting Destin. T-Mobile,Verizon and AT&T worked well there. Crooked River State Park, Saint Marys, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We loved this campground because the sites are huge, nicely spaced and we had a good amount of privacy between neighbors. It was also nice to have full hookups at a state park, but that also made the park a lot more expensive than most state parks. We visited the nature center while we were there which was worth a visit. Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile worked great there. We camped at Crooked River State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Fiesta Key RV Resort & Marina, Long Key, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We loved our stay at Fiesta Key and can't wait to return again someday. When we got there, the escort led us to our site which was kind of small for our 43 ft 5th wheel. Since they weren't crowded at this time of the year he was able to arrange to have us moved to a larger site. I appreciated that so much, and we really liked the site we ended up with. I also appreciated that they allowed me to have a couple of packages delivered there, and the office staff that called to let me know my package arrived was so friendly! The pool was fantastic, we went there almost every day with our kids. The beach and marina are beautiful. We enjoyed seeing manatee swimming near the marina, and also liked seeing iguanas everywhere. One of our favorite things was the Lobster Crawl restaurant. Happy hour specials were great and we had dinner there several times during our stay. The food was excellent! We are full timers and work remotely so we rely on good cell coverage. Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T all worked very well there. We camped at Fiesta Key RV Resort & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Keenes Lake Family Campground, Calais, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful campground on a swimming lake which our kids loved. We didn't have a view of the lake from our site, but it was not far to walk to it. The reason I give this 10 stars is the owners. They were exceptional! We came to this campground on our way to Canada because our Heartland RV frame fell apart on the highway. We limped into this campground since it was the closest one we could find. They put us in a spot that was easy to get into and let us stay as long as we needed while we sorted things out with the RV. It turned out the RV was totaled. We are full-timers and had to move out of it and leave it stored there. The owners were so kind and patient with us while it was stored there for months while we tried to get some resolution with Heartland (which never happened), and they did not even charge us to store it because they knew we had enough problems to deal with. I am so grateful to the owners of this campground. They were like angels to us in our time of need. Thank you Keene's Lake, you have no idea how much we appreciate your help. In my reviews I always mention how the cell coverage is since we work remotely. Verizon did not work well here at all because it is so close to Canada and our phone and hotspot kept roaming. Our T-Mobile phone and data worked better but it wasn't a very strong signal. We camped at Keenes Lake Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Scusset Beach State Reservation, Sagamore, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful state park just before the bridge over to Cape Cod and Sandwich. Some sites looked very close together near the front and they were open with no privacy. We were in site 21 near the back that had a good amount of space and privacy. We have a 41 ft 5th wheel and had just enough space with the truck parked sideways across the driveway. The 7 mile bike path along the canal is beautiful and can be accessed from the campground. The beach access is also convenient. Check-in was a bit of a hassle because we got there at 12:50 and they will not let anyone check in until precisely 1pm. So I had to join the long line of others waiting until 1pm. I understand not allowing early check-in, but a few minutes shouldn't be a big deal. We also didn't intentionally show up early, but we were coming from another park in RI where we had to leave by 11 and it didn't take quite 2 hours to get to Scusset Beach no matter how slow we drove. This park is pretty expensive for a state park with no sewer hookups, but it's partly because of the out-of-state up-charge. That seems a little unfriendly to me considering we are from Florida which does not charge extra at the state parks for out-of-state visitors. I guess Florida is more welcoming to tourists. Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile all worked well. We camped at Scusset Beach State Reservation in a Fifth Wheel.

Fishermen's State Park and Campground, Narragansett, Rhode Island

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in site 99 in Area 1 which had full hookups and nice, spacious sites. The views were beautiful and our site was huge! This was a nice location for visiting attractions around RI, although we were only there for 2 days just passing through. We did make it over to Newport to hike on the Cliff Walk which was gorgeous. They ask for a lot of documentation when checking in like copies of all vehicle registrations and pet vaccinations. I haven't been anywhere that needed quite so much information. Just be prepared. Also they do not allow you to use your A/C which I thought was strange, but thankfully it was chilly when we were there anyway. Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile all worked well there. We camped at Fishermen's State Park and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Seaport RV Resort, Old Mystic, Connecticut

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice park and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We were only there 2 nights as we were just passing through the area, but it was a nice stop and a good spot for visiting the town of Mystic. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the pull-through buddy sites. Thankfully the park was not full while we were there, but if it was full we would have been sharing a "yard" with a neighbor. All the pull-through sites are set up where one RV pulls in one direction, and the next pulls in the other direction which essentially makes them buddy sites. That's usually awkward when you don't know your neighbor. Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile all worked well there. We camped at Seaport RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Hershey RV & Camping Resort, Lebanon, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice Thousand Trails park and we really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in site 57 that was very spacious and had a great view of the lake. It also included full hookups and 50 amp for no additional fee. Check-in was quick and easy and the staff working at the front gate/booth were always friendly. The activity center is nice and the other amenities like the pool area looked nice as well but it was not open for the season yet. They allowed us to receive packages there which we really appreciated. Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile all worked well. This is one of the nicest Thousand Trails parks we have been to. One piece of advice though if you are approaching the campground where you would need to turn left to enter the campground. There are no signs alerting you to the campground entrance and it sneaks up on you. Coming from the other direction where the campground would be on your right, there are many signs to help you out. We camped at Hershey RV & Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
