Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $74.00
Overall Rating:

Absolutely fantastic park. Even with the premium price we felt satisfied. The dog park is huge! We camped here for a total of 4 nights and we were able to visit Universal Orlando and Disney Parks. The staff is friendly and worked with us to get close to our parents' site. The laundry facilities are well kept and can be activated with credit card. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Fort Myers / Pine Island KOA, Saint James City, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $64.00
Overall Rating:

During a vacation we stayed at this KOA for 7 nights. For the holiday season the park attendance was surprisingly sparse. Unfortunately, all of the large RVs were stationed close together at the entrance. When we walked around the compound we found that there was plenty of space in other sections. We were pleased with a local RV cleaning company that partners with the KOA to provide wash and wax at a decent price. The people at this campground are really nice. We made friends right away. The dog park at this KOA is large and well kept. We would stay here again because the community and amenities are worth it. We camped at Fort Myers / Pine Island KOA in a Motorhome.

Hersheypark Camping Resort, Hummelstown, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $89.00
Overall Rating:

The trash service is amazing. When you first arrive you are given clear bags for recycling (yay for recycling!). The check-in process is quick due to attendants being staged right at the entrance of the park. From here we were directed to our site and given a quick overview of the campus. The shuttles were frequent and convenient and during our stay there was a movie played on the back wall of the camp store every night. We camped at Hersheypark Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Cedar Point Resorts / Lighthouse Point Campground, Sandusky, Ohio

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $111.00
Overall Rating:

This place is pricey but it is very worth the stay. Even with the shuttle system it is a realistic walk to the back entrance of the park. The sites are close together but the landscaping makes for decent privacy. The camp store was still able to check us in even with our late arrival at midnight. Backing into our site was a cinch and we were really close to the pool, campground shuttle stop, and bathroom. We camped at Cedar Point Resorts / Lighthouse Point Campground in a Motorhome.

Illini State Park, Marseilles, Illinois

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The sites are very spacious and level. We had plenty of room in our site to spread out. The fire pits are small and raised off of the ground. There was wood available from the camp host at a reasonable price. For those of you that are early-birds, keep an eye out for the barges passing right next to your campsite! We camped at Illini State Park in a Motorhome.

Sampson State Park, Romulus, New York

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is wonderful and if your site is chosen wisely you will end up with very scenic views of Seneca Lake. The campground was completely full when we went, so book early!

We used ReserveAmerica to book this site for 2 nights. The description indicated that a 40 ft rig could fit at site 226. We were able to fit our 32 ft RV + tow dolly + car but it was a steep grade and needed a lot of attention to get close to level. Leveling a 40-footer in this site could be tough. We camped at Sampson State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Bring blocks to put under your leveling jacks. We were not prepared for the steep incline that site 226 had and were not able to get fully level. I would recommend pulling forward instead backing in because the lower tires will be lifted off of the ground.

Elkhart Campground, Elkhart, Indiana

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

We had a short 1-night stay at this campground. Our site was 116; a pull-through site with a grass base. The amenities need upkeep and many of them look like they are unused because of this. The park was approximately 1/2 full when we visited but the wireless Internet was still very slow. The number one thing about this park is that the dog run is enormous. Our Australian Shepherd was consistently exhausted at this place. We camped at Elkhart Campground in a Motorhome.
