Sunny's Campground, Wauseon, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Very well manicured sites and very nice gravel roads. Nice ponds and swimming pond with sandy beach. Lots of seasonal campers. Most seasonal sites were nicely landscaped with flowers. Lots of golf carts buzzing around. Looks like lots of fun for families. Lots of extra fees. Site with electric is $33. AC is $2.50 extra. Sewer is $3.00 extra. Wi-Fi is $3.50 for 24 hrs. The WiFi worked really well and I didn't mind paying for it. Having it as an extra is better than campgrounds that lie and say they have WiFi when the truth is it doesn't work. We camped at Sunny's Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Smuggler's Den Campground, Southwest Harbor, Maine

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Nice shaded site. Gravel pad. We also had a wooden platform for the kid's tent. Nice playground and pool. Great staff - so helpful about answering questions about the area. Very quiet campground. Nice, free island shuttle service stops at campground. Great cable tv. Wi-Fi rarely worked but they had someone working on a stronger system. No internet service on my Verizon cell phone though we could call and text. We camped at Smuggler's Den Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Meadowcrest Campground, Marshfield, Vermont

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Adequate site but extremely difficult to back into. The campground consists of one narrow road that dead ends. We had to back down the whole road to get into our site. There is constant road noise as it is right on a county highway. Nice staff and friendly seasonal campers. We camped at Meadowcrest Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit Cabot Creamery. Lots of delicious cheese samples and reasonable prices on their cheese. Interesting video on cheese production. Don't visit Rainbow Sweets Bakery in Marshfield. Ridiculous prices on not freshly baked pastries.

Thomson Causeway (COE), Thomson, Illinois

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The sites are nice but there are so many bugs, I would classify this place as hazardous. Mosquitoes, gnats and chiggers. I came home with my legs absolutely covered with chigger bites and the only vegetation I was in was around the campsite. They describe the area around the campground as a marsh. This means the campground is surrounded by stagnant water covered with green algae breeding mosquitoes. I do not recommend camping or visiting at Thomson Causeway. We camped at Thomson Causeway (COE) in a Travel Trailer.

Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated), Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Tightest campground I've been in with our RV. You look out your window and stare into your neighbor's RV. Very difficult to get a 26' foot trailer, pickup truck and two lawn chairs onto the site. Roads are small and one-way, making it very difficult to back in and pull out. One section of the RV park has rutted dirt roads. Would not have wanted to be in that section, especially if it rained. Not an enjoyable place to stay. We camped at Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Travel Trailer.

Colter Bay Village RV Park -- Full Hookups (Concessionaire Operated) , Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Really nice sites for a national park. Very spacious and shady. Only disappointment is that campfires were not allowed. There is a nice lake just a short walk away and many people were enjoying the beach and water. WiFi is available if you go to one of the hotspots in Colter Bay Village. We camped at Colter Bay Village RV Park -- Full Hookups (Concessionaire Operated) in a Travel Trailer.

Badlands / White River KOA, Interior, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Some shaded sites but ours just had a dead tree. More trees than other campgrounds we saw in the area. This campground is in a low area and there is no cell service and the WiFi does not work. Picnic tables are surrounded on three sides by timbers which end up being a tripping hazard, especially in the dark. The pool looked ok and the kids looked like they were having fun at the playground and riding the pedal carts. The store is nice and sells cooked food. The staff is nice. Worst problem is their electrical service. Our surge protector shut off our electricity and gave us messages that the voltage was low. Staffs excuse was that everyone was running their ACs. Our only option if we wanted to have power was to take our electrical protection off. That didn't make us happy. We've never had problems with our surge protector before or after. The problem was definitely the campground's electrical system. The site next to us had the water and electricity on separate sides of the site. That camper was not happy trying to get his hose from the water to his camper. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Weavers Needle Travel Trailer Resort (55+ park), Apache Junction, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Weaver's Needle has very friendly guests but the park itself has issues. There is a lot of chatter about dissatisfaction with the management. They are absolutely lying when they say they have Wi-Fi. Their Wi-Fi is absolutely useless and they know it. They pretend at first and even give you a code. When you tell them the code doesn't work, they say "maybe at 4 a.m." and then they suggest you go to the public library. After we paid, we were given a rule book that included the rule that you could not have your own washer or dryer. We have a Splendide in our RV and I would never have booked at a park that required me to use a Laundromat. They should list their rules on the internet so you know the rules ahead of time. The park also uses disgusting powerful deodorizers in their office and clubhouses. I know that many of the residents let the management know that they hated the deodorizers and that it gave them headaches, sore throats and made their eyes burn. The management ignored their concerns.

The park does have a pet section and a pet park but there is a strong hatred of pets by many of the non-pet people. You are not allowed to walk your dog anywhere but in the pet section. I heard many comments from people who accidentally walked on the wrong street and people came out and yelled at them.

I wish they controlled the motorcycles as much as they do pets. We had the misfortune of having numerous motorcycles around us and one guy would back up right next to our RV and run his engine. He woke me up early in the morning as well as late at night.

The pool at the park is very small and has no ambiance. It is sandwiched between two buildings with walls on both sides. It is functional but not nice.

The sites are tight and you are very close to your neighbor. If you have a smoker or a neighbor with an old diesel truck (like we did), you might have to close all your windows like we did. We camped at Weavers Needle Travel Trailer Resort (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Very few decent restaurants in Apache Junction. Be prepared for the hot sun - our trailer awning was not enough. We wished we had shade covers for the sides.
