McKinney Falls State Park, Austin, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We had 30 amp service and water. Like many state parks, we did not have sewer or cable, but for $20 it is still a good value. There are nice hiking trails/ Onion Creek and the falls are pretty and the park is well maintained. The only hidden cost is if you do not have a season pass then there is a $6 per day per person usage charge so if you are just staying a few days then the net cost is a little higher than the $20 advertised rate. If you are spending much time in Texas State Parks then the best idea is to buy a Season Pass. We camped at McKinney Falls State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Travelers World RV Resort, San Antonio, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of our favorite parks, anywhere! It is maintained nicely and the staff is helpful. The lots are nicely maintained with nice grass. All of the facilities including the pool, recreation areas and fitness area are excellent. It is also convenient to downtown San Antonio, the River Walk and the historic missions. This is a great park! We camped at Travelers World RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Our Friends Campground, Lampasas, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is located approximately 7 miles East of Lampasas Texas on Highway 190. The rural setting is quiet but a bit unhandy for quick access to Lampasas. The campground is clean and our site was level and decently sized. The roads and campsites are not paved but were adequately rocked. The campground is fairly plain but the $30 nightly charge is fair.

When we arrived at the campground we were unsure how long we were staying, (1 night or 2) so we booked two. The next morning we decided to leave and left the campground before the check-out time of 11 AM. The manager refused to give us a refund for the 2nd night and said it was not their policy to issue refunds. The park was less than half full so we certainly did not cost them a booking.

We feel we were treated unfairly and will not stay here again. I would have given a higher rating except for the no refund issue. We camped at Our Friends Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
