Johnny Appleseed Campground, Fort Wayne, Indiana

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is right in Fort Wayne along a river, though you don't really see it from where you park. There is a bike trail that goes along the river for miles and miles. The park is forested but you don't have privacy from neighbors. Each spot has plenty of room for slideouts and such, and each has a campfire ring and picnic bench, but that's about it. But you're in Fort Wayne! The hosts are very friendly and the bathrooms are very clean and kept up. The laundry facilities are clean and work well too. The water hookups are centralized so you need to run your hose a distance to get water - nothing unreasonable but the water spout is not right next to your spot. Sewer is not offered, but there is a dump and it's accessible and has non-potable water to clean the tanks. Sites are gravel and then grass between each site. Pads are pretty level. A bit of road noise but actually quite peaceful. Lots of shade. No cable hookups. WiFi works wonderfully most of the time. We camped at Johnny Appleseed Campground in a Motorhome.

Little River State Park, Waterbury, Vermont

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is 3 miles in from the interstate and nestled up against a hillside beside a reservoir. The sites are nicely spaced out, level and many having great privacy. I drive a 38-foot Class A that is very tall at 13 feet and I didn't have any problem getting to the campground or into my site. They put me in a pull through that was way bigger than I needed and there are plenty of other sites I could have backed into.

There are no hookups but they do have a dump station and potable water.

But the best part is how beautiful it is up here. The lake has a swimming area. They even have a ramp to put in a boat if you have one. And I just got done hiking for 2 hours along an amazing trail that followed a beautiful creek. Vermont at its best.

The bathrooms are rudimentary but clean and it looks like they are building another new one. There's no wi-fi but I do get Verizon cell service.

Vermont also has a law that you can only run your generator for two hours in the morning and two hours in the late afternoon, other than that it needs to be off.

I'd easily come back here. We camped at Little River State Park in a Motorhome.

Alamo City RV Park, San Antonio, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This place is under new ownership and they are very eager to please. Bathrooms are very clean. Laundry facilities clean and everything worked. Staff were exceedingly friendly. The host went out of her way to find me a great spot and was very friendly. They are working on the place and were putting a new deck in by the pool when I was there. I didn't swim in the pool but it looked crystal clean. A few permanent residents here but everything is very clean and tidy. The pads themselves need work - some are concrete, some gravel, some just grass/weeds - but they were level and good spacing. Full hookups - no problem there. Not far from the riverwalk area. We camped at Alamo City RV Park in a Motorhome.
