Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park, West Memphis, Arkansas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

This park has power problems and they are putting people's RVs at risk for damage. We experienced high voltage of 132 and low voltage of 90 during our 3 days at the park. Luckily, we own a surge protector. The problems were not fixed during our stay. Maintenance was inept and the owner was unresponsive. On the plus side, the park has nice, sunny, open sites with gorgeous views of the Mississippi. The sunrise each morning was amazing. The park has nice walking trails and free laundry. Overall, the park was really nice, but if you can't provide safe power to your customers, you've pretty much failed in your number one responsibility. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Junction/North Llano River RV Park, Junction, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very cute, well run park. Check-in was a breeze and we were piloted to our site by a friendly fellow in a golf cart. There had been a big storm just before our are arrival, so everything was very wet and the river was flowing nicely. They said the water doesn't come up into the campsites. I was glad to hear that because Texas has been having a very stormy spring. The sites are gravel, so our rig and truck were a muddy mess when we left this place. Other than that we had an excellent stay. We made use of the fenced dog run and walked around the park. There was a pool and other amenities, but we didn't use them. I wouldn't hesitate to use this park again if I'm in the area. We camped at Junction/North Llano River RV Park in a Motorhome.

Greenlake RV Resort, San Antonio, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in a pull thru site. Easy in and easy out. Everything is concrete with super wide lanes. The campsite itself had a picnic table and a bit of grass. The trees are still small, so be prepared to bake in this concrete jungle. Our AC ran non stop. The sun beat down on us relentlessly and made us realize we need to invest in additional window sun screens. The lake, grounds and pool are very nicely landscaped. The dog walk area is not fenced, which was disappointing. The only other thing I would complain about is the cost. $47 was the discounted price. Ouch! We camped at Greenlake RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Drove 30 mins to McAllister Park for some hiking and a visit to the dog park for some off leash time. There are lots of paved trails there with shady trees and covered pavilions. Nice park.

Bastrop State Park, Bastrop, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This was my first visit to Bastrop SP since the big fire. We used to tent camp, but have recently upgrade to a 37 ft 5'er. The park was green due to recent rains, but dead burnt trees still dominate the landscape. We stayed in the Piney Hill campground which is an all pull-thru campground with water, electric and sewer. No cable or WiFi. The sites are all paved. Ours had a pretty good incline that made leveling a challenge. We were in site 22. Our site had a nice covered picnic table, a fire pit and a grill. We camped mid week in April, so the park was pretty empty. The bathrooms have all been rebuilt since the fire, so everything still looks very new. We camped at Bastrop State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

I recommend Gracie Millers for chicken fried. If you are traveling with a dog, Bastrop has a dog park across the street from the police department on the corner of Grady Tuck Ln and Hospital Dr.
