A Country RV Park, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

A Country RV Park is a comfortable RV park with concrete pads and gravel in between. The sites are all pull through with wide roads and long enough to accommodate a 40' MH towing a pickup truck. Its a neat, clean park with many seasonal sites towards the front (highway side) of the park and the transient sites are towards the back. The sites are a little close, but not too bad. The wifi worked fine and Verizon was a good signal. There are not big trees so getting satellite was no problem. The office personnel were very nice. My husband used the hot tub and enjoyed it very much. We would go back if we were ever in the area again. We camped at A Country RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Vandenberg AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp), Vandenberg AFB, California

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We enjoyed our time at Vandenberg. The park is clean and well kept. Our dealings with the camp host were very friendlyl and helpful. Our first site had an electrical problem but they put us in a different spot (in the parking lot area) and it worked out just fine. The famcamp is toward the back end of the base so there is very little traffic and very quiet. Verizon signal was ok - not real strong (our hotspot would get real slow at times). The famcamp wifi was ok. It would also slow down at times. There is a very nice BX and a huge commissary (under remodel). We got to see a launch while we were there, which was exciting. There's a couple different sections to the famcamp. There is the section that has pull throughs in a grassy area with trees. There are a couple of sections that are in parking lots (still full hook up). It all depends on your likes - we were in the parking lot and didn't mind it at all. There was a huge field behind us where we watched a coyote (every day) try to catch ground squirrels. We would go back again. We camped at Vandenberg AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Camp San Luis Obispo RV Park (Military FamCamp), San Luis Obispo, California

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very basic park but well kept. The entire area is clean, lawns mowed, quiet and generally a very pleasant place to stay. The utilities are well located and worked well. There is lots of room between each site - lots of elbow room, no crowding. The area of San Luis Obispo is a nice place to visit and scenic. There is no wifi but cell signal (verizon) was strong. There is a family of deer that roams around the park and fun to watch. All sites are pull through and easy in/out. No complaints except wifi. We would go there again. We camped at Camp San Luis Obispo RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Monterey Pines RV Campground (Military FamCamp), Monterey, California

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This was an okay park. We would stay there again, but mostly because of the location. It's only 30 amp. During cool months that's okay but during the summer when you want to run your a/c's then it isn't okay.

There are some sites that are laid out really goofy. We were in #19 and the back right corner of our RV backed up to the awning of the RV next to us. Literally touching it, which made the RV at the corner of the site's patio instead of parallel to it. The site on the other side us backed up to us in the same way. Really weird.

The wifi was okay, in fact good, during the day. At night it slowed down but that is when everyone else is using it. The park (sites) are mostly clean. Ours had a left over door mat and pieces of plastic toy laying around. Although the park is at the end of an airport runway, the noise isn't too bad from the planes.

The location of the park, Monterey, is great. Monterey is a beautiful location and a wonderful place to visit. We thoroughly enjoyed Fisherman's Wharf and Cannery Row. The drive out of Monterey down the coast and to Big Sur on the Pacific Hwy is gorgeous! The cost of $36 a night is ridiculous for what you get. It should be $20 or less. We camped at Monterey Pines RV Campground (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Travis AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp), Travis AFB, California

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We've been here for a month (November) and have had relatively no complaints about the park. It is neat and clean and the sites are spaced well so you have plenty of room. All sites are back in and deep enough for any size RV and park your truck or car in front of the rig. The initial visual of the park is very nice with a section of the park that is landscaped and has some shade trees. This is the 'no pet' zone. As you come further back in to the 'pets allowed' area there is no landscaping or shade trees. The grass in the pet area, although watered regularly and maintained, looks dried up. There are some RV's in the pet section that are, well.....not the latest models and one even has a tarp over the top. But, that's okay. Not all people can have brand new Tiffins (we certainly don't). There is no wifi and, in this day and age, that is almost unacceptable. The park hosts are great people! Very helpful, very friendly and generally good folks. It's a small world in that we knew that we knew each other but couldn't place each other. We finally realized we had parked next to each other the previous summer in Rhode Island. Now we're all the way on the other side of the country and run in to them. The BX and commissary are very close by as is San Francisco, Sacramento and even Lake Tahoe is a nice day trip. We would come back. We camped at Travis AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Elk Country RV Resort & Campground, Trinidad, California

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

I liked it....alot. The park is nothing to look at. There's a lot of RV sites in the middle of a field, but they're spaced apart good, they are long enough (40' 5th wheel), sites are level, it's clean (later on that subject), it's quiet, and it's comfortable. The staff is very nice and helpful. They suggested places for us to visit to see the Redwoods and the coast and were generally very friendly. The area is awesome! The state parks and national park with the giant redwoods and the forests are magical! The air smells so incredibly clean with a hint of pine. The coast line is beautiful. Back to the park....Utilities were well placed and worked fine (a water drip that the staff took care of). There is almost no cell service/internet. The park has internet for free up to 150Mg, then you have to pay. Verizon cell is extremely weak. No trouble getting in or out of the park or negotiating for the parking - easy peasy. Now....about the elk. Amazing! Our first night there there was a herd of 35 to 50 elk in the park. Just grazing and minding their own business. Did I mention there were 35 to 50 elk?! They are definately not photo shopped in their pictures on their website. This is where we get to the 'clean'. Elk's poop. As there are so many that visit the park regularly, there is poop. Just know it and avoid it and it's fine. We would go back again and again. We camped at Elk Country RV Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The Mill Casino RV Park, North Bend, Oregon

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Very pleasant RV park. It is well laid out, easy to back in or pull through because roads are wide enough and sites are large. Roads are asphalt and sites are concrete with landscaping between each site. Utilities are well placed and worked fine. Verizon cell signal was good, cable was okay and wifi was okay. The park is pleasing to the eye and it feels safe. I suppose if I had a complaint it would be that the light pole at the rear of our RV was like a 1,000 suns shining in the bedroom window. We camped at The Mill Casino RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Netarts Bay Garden RV Resort, Tillamook, Oregon

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Nice little park. Clean and pleasing to the eyes. It is in a great location just 4 or 5 miles west of Tillamook, and a couple miles south of Oceanside. The park is only a block from the Pacific and no matter which way you turn on the coastal road you get gorgeous views. The park is tight. If it were full (which it isn't this time of year) it would have felt very tight as the roads are not wide. Backing into sites could be very difficult because the sites aren't very deep and the roads are not wide. The utilities are well located and Verizon cell signal was okay (LTE with 2 bars). Our site (85) had no problem getting Dish satellite lock. We would come back during any off season but not during a busy period. We camped at Netarts Bay Garden RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Crown Point RV Park, Corbett, Oregon

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

DO NOT TAKE EXIT 22 IF YOUR RV IS OVER 26 FEET. The exit is "Corbett Hill" and has a 10% grade (up) and very curvy. Larger RVs could have trouble. Use Exit 18 and follow the Historic Columbia River Hwy. Exit 18 has a 13'10" bridge but any RV should clear that. This is a small, but neat and clean RV park. Most of the RVs are seasonal or permanent but it is not junked up. Each site is tidy. Crown Point RV Park is in a very small town (Corbett) just a little way out of Gresham/Portland. Even though you're very close to the city, you are definitely in the country. It is located right on the Historic Columbia River Hwy so, no matter which you drive out of the park, you will have beautiful views and Mt Hood looms in the background. The roads and sites are gravel with grass in between. It does not feel crowded - there is elbow room between the sites. The Wifi worked really well the first couple of days but then started to fall off. Verizon cell signal was really good and utilities worked just fine and were in a position. There is a little road noise from the Historic Columbia River Hwy but not too bad. We would come back. We camped at Crown Point RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Mayfield Resort & Marina, Mossyrock, Washington

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Neat, clean and comfortable. We stayed at Lake Mayfield for 8 days. It was at the end of the season so it wasn't crowded and I can see how it could have felt a little tight if all sites were full, but there is enough room between each site to be comfortable. The roads are asphalt, the sites are gravel and the area in between is nice green grass. I didn't see anything that wasn't kept up nicely. Wifi was good and Verizon cell signal was good. The area is beautiful. On a clear day you can see Mt Rainier and/or Mt. St. Helen's from almost anywhere you go on Hwy 12. We would come back again. We camped at Lake Mayfield Resort & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Pleasant RV Park, Bothell, Washington

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

When looking for a park in or around Seattle that is even close to affordable, this was the only choice. It turned out to be a very nice park. Very clean and tidy. All sites are centered around the lake and the landscaping is good so that you feel like you have a little privacy even though the sites are pretty close together. The park is convenient to the highway and shopping. The utilites are all the way to the back of the RV. You'll need plenty of sewer hose. Our site was a little short, but not too bad. There was parking across the street which eased the parking situation. Roads and sites are asphalt with grass and trees between each site. Verizon cell signal was good - we didn't use the wifi. All in all a pretty nice place. We'd stay there again. We camped at Lake Pleasant RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Cliffside RV Park, Oak Harbor, Washington

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This park is awesome! We are in site 34 and have a more than 180 degree view of the water, Olympic National Park, the San Juan Islands, and Vancouver Island. The sunsets are amazing. There is a huge amount of room in between the RVs due to the great layout and the angle of the sites. The laundry room and bathrooms are spotless clean and the whole park is neat and tidy. The camp host/gardener has done a splendid job landscaping and planting flower beds that are so nice. We have traveled the country from end to end and this is our #1 park. The wifi is good - they use the Navy's Gowifi and it is fast enough and very little to no interruptions. The Verizon cell signal is 2 bars with LTE. There is one annoyance, but it isn't the fault of the park. This is a Naval Air Station and they do flight ops every week day. The touch and go's can last until 10:30 at night. Make no mistake about it - they are loud, very loud. Some days are not so bad and some days..... The noise would not keep us away from this park. We will be back hopefully sooner than later. This has been a wonderful month at a spectacular park. We camped at Cliffside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Joint Base Lewis-McChord Travel Camp (Military FamCamp), Fort Lewis, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park. JBLM is a huge military base and has just about everything you would need. The RV Park is great with lots of privacy and space between each site with nature in between. It is clean, quiet, and just plain appealing. There is I-5 road noise but it is a like a constant hum from tires on the road that you don't hear after a while. The utilities are well placed and worked just fine. The roads and sites are asphalt and they are each tucked into their own little space. There is no Wifi. I always take a point off for lack of Wifi. I believe in todays world Wifi should be available - period. You can book at this RV park with complete confidence. We camped at Joint Base Lewis-McChord Travel Camp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Yakima River RV Park, Ellensburg, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We found this RV park to be very nice, clean and quiet (a train once in a while). There is a ton of space between each site, which is SO nice to have because most parks cram you in like sardines. The sites are gravel with patches of (green) grass in between. I say 'green' because it has been so dry everywhere we've been in Washington that 'green' was a pleasant surprise. Utilities were placed well and worked fine. We were parked on the back row next to a pasture of horses and cows. It was very pleasant and relaxing. Wifi even worked pretty good. Although this was a delightful park we felt we were handed pages of rules. All, or most, of these rules are standard and common courtesy, but to have them all written out so that when you look at the page you wonder if you're allowed to sit outside or put your awning out. Of course you are, but the you get the drift. The other thing that was cumbersome was the entry gate. It's one of those gates that you put in a code and sit there for a few minutes while it opens sideways. There are quite a few speed bumps at the entrance where that gate is so don't get caught in it while easing over the speed bumps. The park is out in the country and near a relatively small town. I don't understand the need for this mega security gate that is in the way. We camped at Yakima River RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Fairchild AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp) , Fairchild AFB, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

As mentioned in another post, be ready to have your rig looked at inside and out. They have good security on this base and don't allow large rigs on base that have not been searched. If you don't have anything to hide, this shouldn't be a bother. This is not a resort by any stretch of the imagination, but it is a great place to hang your hat while visiting Spokane and/or passing through the area. It is quiet (near the AFB tarmac, but not bothersome) and clean. The visual isn't great because it has been so painfully dry in the area that there is no grass left. What was there is dead and makes it look really bad. Weather conditions are not the fault of the park or the hosts so I didn't take any points off for that. The Wifi was slow but usable. As a whole the sites are very close together. There are a few that have a little more space and we were lucky enough to get a wider site, which was very comfortable. We would stay there again. We camped at Fairchild AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.
