Steckel Park, Santa Paula, California

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We've stayed at Steckel Park several times within the last few months. The park itself is clean, camp hosts are very nice, and there are many trees. The overnight park is mostly dry camping with a small section in the middle for full hookups. Most of the tent sites are within close proximity to the main road so I would not recommend. The full hookup sites are all clean but somewhat close together. The back part of the park for dry campers is a bit more spread out.

The only bad parts about this park are the proximity to the main road (hear traffic all night) and the day use area bleeding over into the camping area. The campers are generally friendly but the folks coming over from the day use area are loud, obnoxious, and sometimes unbearable! The camp host try's to help but it usually dosn't work. And the police usually take a few hours to respond. Look at the park map before booking a site as some are close to the road and/or close together.

Per the camp host, you do NOT want to be there during any holidays as the park gets packed, it's loud, and music all hours of the night. I believe him!

We'll return for weekend getaways. Happy camping! We camped at Steckel Park in a Motorhome.
