Lost Alaskan RV Park, Alpine, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Lost Alaskan is on the outskirts of Alpine,Texas and makes a good home base for visiting Big Bend National Park and the McDonald Observatory near Fort Davis. Check-in was easy and we were escorted to our site. Hook-ups were convenient and the site was very level. Trees have been planted between sites and provide some privacy. The night sky was full of stars. We really enjoyed this campground. One suggestion for improvement would be their website. We camped at Lost Alaskan RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park, Fredericksburg, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The park is conveniently located on the outskirts of Fredericksburg, next to the airport. The roads and campsites are gravel. We had full hook-ups in the row closest to the runway. The site was close by our neighbor. They are currently completing a large dog park directly in front of these sites, so if you have a dog, you will love these sites. The site numbers on the map we were given at check-in did not match the new numbering system they have. I guess they are trying to use up the old maps. We camped at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park in a Motorhome.

The Villages RV Park at Turning Stone, Verona, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is an attractive park located just a mile or so off the New York State Thruway. Our rate reflects the weekly rate. They do offer Good Sam discounts on shorter stays. This seems to be a popular park with families, as it has a swimming pool, fishing ponds, and large playground. The casino is nearby and offers free shuttle rides. The bathhouses were clean and modern. Our site was paved, but barely wide enough for our wheels to fit. We were able squeeze our car sideways behind our motorhome, but many who had larger trucks had to park on the grass. The picnic table sits on crushed stone. All the connections(water, sewer, electric) were well positioned in the center of the driveway. All this being said, the one negative was a big problem for us- overhanging tree branches. The entrance into the park and most of the interior roads have low, overhanging tree limbs which were unavoidable. We also had tree issues getting into our site and a neighbor scraped up his fifth wheel trying to leave. Especially Class A motorhomes- you will encounter this problem. We camped at The Villages RV Park at Turning Stone in a Motorhome.

Rafter J Bar Ranch Camping Resort, Hill City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $62.00
Overall Rating:

The best asset of Rafter J Bar Ranch Resort is its setting. From the highway a wide, paved driveway takes you up a short hillside through the trees and opens up onto a huge, open meadow with several communities of camping areas around the outer edges of the meadow. Our site was plenty long enough for our motorhome and tow vehicle. Many of the sites are tucked away in the pine trees. Hook-ups were conveniently placed and well-maintained. The price seems a little high, but the camping season in the Black Hills is short, and most of the other campgrounds we saw were packed in tight. Having the George Mickelson trail right out at the front of the campground was the reason we chose to stay here. The ice cream you can buy at the office is very good too. The inside roads to the campsites are gravel and raise a lot of dust. This is one negative about the resort. We camped at Rafter J Bar Ranch Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Best Western Territorial Motel & RV Park, Guthrie, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is 9 or 10, full hook-up, concrete driveways next to a motel just off I-35. We weren't looking for lots of amenities, just a place to spend the night and this fit the bill. The driveway fit our 45 ft. Motorhome and tow vehicle. Room enough for slides on both sides. Register in the motel lobby. Breakfast was included in the price. I called the day before and they said they would save a spot for us. We camped at Best Western Territorial Motel & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Travelers Campground, Alachua, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

There are many positive things about this campground- friendly staff, convenient access from the the interstate, clean, level sites with good hook-ups. Negative- Overnight campers are lined up down a long driveway with about 12 ft between the back end of the RV in front of us and the nose of our RV. A driveway is left clear on one side to allow early risers to exit, but this required driving down a short bank over to the clear driveway. We managed this without difficulty, as most of our neighbors were not yet ready to leave. We camped at Travelers Campground in a Motorhome.

Shady Firs RV Park & Campground, Randle, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here a few days while exploring Mount St. Helens and Mount Rainier. Our price reflects Passport America rate. They offers open, sunny sites, or shady spots under the pines. We had plenty of wiggle room in our site and didn't feel cramped. Trees have been well trimmed and were not a problem for our motorhome. Fifty amp service and water were at the site. Dump station is free to those staying in the park. Didn't use the laundry or bathrooms so can't comment on those, except to say that each evening several van loads of people pulled in to use the shower. We camped at Shady Firs RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Camp Rilea (Military FamCamp), Camp Rilea Armed Forces Training CT, Oregon

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

The camping area here is a large parking lot with hook-ups. That being said, the spaces are long and wide, and we put our slides out on both sides. The sites slope a little toward the front. The check in was a little disorganized on the day we were here. When you check in you get a key to unlock the electric box on your site. When you leave you can drop the key in the drop box at the billeting office.

The noise from the range was not offensive, and even somewhat nostalgic. The post is clean and the roads well maintained. There is no fuel station on post as some camping websites indicate. Very small PX. Camp Rilea is convenient to beaches, Lewis and Clark historical sites, and Astoria. We enjoyed camping at Camp Rilea, and would come back again. Make a reservation well in advance. We camped at Camp Rilea (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Armitage Park , Eugene, Oregon

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Armitage Campground is a county run park just north of Eugene and not far from I-5. Directional signs on the highways take you right to the park. It is one of the nicest locally run parks we have ever been to. The on-line reservation system was simple and quick. Check-in was also speedy. The campsites are paved and spacious. Roads around the campground are easily maneuverable. Our spot had tall trees and bushes on both sides for total privacy. This might affect your satellite, but we didn't care. Most are back-in, but there are a few pull-thrus. Full hook-ups (50 amp) at most sites. They also have a couple extra large sites for group or family camping. Shopping and restaurants are about 2 miles down the road. We camped at Armitage Park in a Motorhome.

Country Manor Mobile Home Community (55+ Park), Visalia, California

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park for its proximity to the National Parks. It is located in a quiet neighborhood, within walking distance to several restaurants. Our site was a large concrete pad, long enough to accommodate our 45 ft motorhome. Ample space on each side for slide outs. Sewer hookup is located at the back of the site, necessitating a long hose. Wi-fi was free, but slow. Verizon signal not great, but adequate. Office staff were friendly. Nice looking swimming pool, though we didn't use it. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Country Manor Mobile Home Community (55+ Park) in a Motorhome.

Ruidoso Motorcoach Ranch (Class A Only), Alto, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $79.00
Overall Rating:

We recently attended a rally at this beautiful motorcoach park. This park just opened last year and the owners have done a superb job of taking advantage of the natural beauty of the location and blending it with the creature comforts of motorhome living. The owners live on the premises and were the most gracious and genuinely friendly resort hosts we've ever met. Each site has a long concrete drive with attached patio and gas fire-pit. There are wooded sites and open, sunny sites from which to choose. Most are pull-ins. A new clubhouse provides showers, laundry and a really nice built -in gas bar-b-que with plenty of seating. Located outside Ruidoso, near the Spencer Theater for the Performing Arts. We definitely plan to come back again. We camped at Ruidoso Motorcoach Ranch (Class A Only) in a Motorhome.

Heron Lake State Park, Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Heron Lake State Park is a great place to camp when you want to get away from it all. We had a pull-through site with 30 amp electrical service and water hookup. There is a dump station at the front of the campground. Sites are large and private with well-placed pine and juniper trees between. Our site was mostly level. Campground roads are dirt/gravel, and well-maintained. Camp host was friendly and accessible. Hiking trail passes through the campground. Lots of wildlife to see. We camped at Heron Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Mountain View RV Resort, Canon City, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is a great choice for those who want to spend a few days in the Canon City/Royal Gorge area. It has easy access off the highway and the campground roads were wide and easy to maneuver. Our pull-in campsite was plenty long for our motorhome and very level. We had a great view of the mountains. The staff were friendly and helpful, even shoveling our concrete patio when it snowed! We camped at Mountain View RV Resort in a Motorhome.
