Clean and quiet place to stay while traveling. Friendly staff, nice pet area, nicely kept sites with room for slide out and toad vehicle. I would definitely stay here again if going through Bakersfield in my travels up and down California. We camped at A Country RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Baja Fresh is a great restaurant 1 mile away just off the freeway but no road noise, nice evening breezes. Jack in the Box across street from Baja if you want drive thru.

Elks Lodge #1858 (Members Only), Florence, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

NOTE: This campground is only available to those who are active members of a Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks lodge. The campground I am rating is the one on Mercer Lake Road, about 2 miles north of town, with 38 sites. Ten of those sites are pull-throughs. There is another set of sites in town at the Elks Lodge itself, but we didn't stay at that one. The only reason this campground got a 9 instead of a 10 is because the Wifi is pretty weak. However, they are in the midst of having a new Wifi company set up in the campground, which should give much better coverage. Where to start? Beautiful campsites with lush, green trees in between each site affording great privacy. No fenced in dog run but a great grassy area to walk dogs to do their "business." Restrooms are AMAZiNGLY clean. Three stalls plus one big shower. Sites have water and 50 amp electrical service. One site has sewer, otherwise you take your rig to one of the two dump sites - easily accessible. The camp host and co-host are wonderful! Very friendly and very helpful with answers to about anything! There is a "rec room" with TV, books, videos and even a kitchen which is available to all. There are tables and chairs outside and SOMETIMES (if you have Verizon) you can get cell service if you're near the fountain there! :) All in all, we LOVE this campground. In fact, we cancelled a second campground in the area (after touring around THAT campground, we weren't about to move out of the Taj Mahal to a condo!), and extended our stay here. In fact, we'll be back in July to stay for a few more days! I'll update if the cell service improvements have been realized. We camped at Elks Lodge #1858 (Members Only) in a Motorhome.

Elk Country RV Resort & Campground, Trinidad, California

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed in the "meadow" section with our 37' RV. Back in sites and pull-through sites are available. Site had 30 amp service, water and sewer. 50 amp is available in some sites, but we didn't need it, since the weather was cool. Even though the campground is fairly near the 101 Highway, traffic sounds were very minimal. Camp host is very friendly, and is happy to answer any questions we asked of her. In fact, she showed me a video on her cellphone that she had taken when one of the elk gave birth right outside her RV about a month ago! Fascinating! Yes - elk! The herd of about 30 or so elk come in to graze in the area about once a day. Very interesting to watch. The do warn you, however, to stay away from them because they ARE wild animals! So if they are grazing right outside your RV, you are kind of stuck watching them util they move on! And you do have to avoid "elk poop" when you stroll around the campground! :) Restrooms and showers were pretty clean, but there was repair work needed (minor things - florescent light covers, etc). Laundry had three washers and three dryers, all which worked when I used them. There is supposed to be Wifi, but it wasn't working. Didn't work when we were at the campground last May, either. Was told they are "working on it." We will be back at the end of July, so we'll see if they got it figured out. All in all a very pleasant and peaceful stay. We camped at Elk Country RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The BEST clam chowder we have ever eaten (and we eat a LOT of clam chowder) is offered by Trinidad Bay Eatery and Gallery. We haven't found any better clam chowder anywhere in California or Oregon. We stop at least once every time we camp here...and usually twice!

Elks Lodge #832 (Members Only), Napa, California

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

NOTE: This is a campground for members of a Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elk lodge only. Nice little campground on the grounds of the Elks Lodge. Most sites 30 amp service, a couple are 50 amp. All sites have water and sewer. All sites are back-in. Tight driving around the perimeter, but the biggest rigs can make it. While we were there, there was a 45' RV but he could only fit in site #6 - and he was a professional driver! Restrooms are available in the lodge, during their open hours only. Sites are clean. There is a big grassy area to walk your dogs without leaving the park. "Doggie doo" bags are available at two places in the park, with a trash bin to put the filled bags. Overflow parking is available. Entire campground is behind a security gate, even the overflow parking, which is nice, the the campground is in the middle of the city of Napa. No reservations - first come, first served and you check in with the bartender. If you arrive after the place is closed, you can dry-camp in their parking lot. It's very big. We camped at Elks Lodge #832 (Members Only) in a Motorhome.

Elk Country RV Resort & Campground, Trinidad, California

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

Park is under new ownership last 2 years and they are keeping the place very nice to visit. RV site in meadow was basically level, maybe 1 bubble off level driving in, deep wide slots. Hookups, restrooms and laundry clean with key access. Enjoyed the quiet setting, elk walking by the door about every other day, cool weather. We stay here about 2-4 weeks a year to escape Arizona summer heat and love it each time. We camped at Elk Country RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Trinidad at the Eatery for Clamchowder, best on the coast from Ventura to Crescent City. Salmon or deep sea fishing in season. Murphys store has bbq sandwiches, tri-tip, half chicken, hamburgers on Fri,Sat,Sun which are great. Little store has everything you need from a local area size store. If you want more go to McKinnleyville for Rays or Safeway, Roundtable Pizza.
