Cumberland Mountain State Park, Crossville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Fine campground in a lovely, historic state park, built by FDR's CCC in the 1930s. We stayed in area 3 -- our site was paved and level with fine water and power service. Really friendly park staff and very amiable camp host. There's a lot to do here: nature trails, kayak rental, small CCC museum, tennis, pool, Nicklaus golf course adjacent. Pleasant restaurant - with adult beverages! - and large patio overlooking the lake. Good AT&T cell coverage; Dish was hit or miss due to trees around site. Camp store has firewood but not a lot else. Overall a really great experience. We'll be back! (Note: Rate reflects 2x event surcharge for 2017 solar eclipse.) We camped at Cumberland Mountain State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We enjoyed the Stagecoach Place Italian restaurant, opposite the main park entrance. ~10 minute walk from the campground, up a gentle hill. Good food at reasonable prices!

State Mutual Stadium (Eastside RV Campground), Rome, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

A real find. This small campground is located at State Mutual Stadium, home of the Rome Braves minor league baseball club. Great location adjacent to the Oostanaula River and Downtown Heritage Trail system. Gravel pads with patios, water and 15/30/50 power hookups. Operated by the friendly Braves staff, who will even give you a golf cart ride to the stadium. Great way to combine a trip to the ballpark and a night of camping. Open year round, reservations required - contact Braves office to book. We camped at State Mutual Stadium (Eastside RV Campground) in a Motorhome.

Lake Hartwell State Park, Fair Play, South Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a sweet little park, usually very quiet (except for occasional jet skis), along the shores of Lake Hartwell. Not a ton of amenities here, but a great place to relax, with views of the lake through the forest from several sites. You can reserve specific sites in advance. For tent campers, the park has dedicated tent sites, separate from the RV areas and very close to the lake. We camped at Lake Hartwell State Park in a Motorhome.

Sawnee COE, Cumming, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Super convenient to Atlanta. Nice views of the lake, although the few waterfront sites book up quickly. Hosts are extremely helpful and friendly. Some sites have utilities on the same side as the patio / tent pads, which is a little awkward. Overall a great quick getaway from town. We camped at Sawnee COE in a Motorhome.

Kentucky Horse Park Campground, Lexington, Kentucky

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Clean, attractive and convenient. Close to Lexington. Nice store, friendly staff. Call for check-in info; turned out the office was open later than the website indicated. The park rents the adjacent lawn for special events; there was a Boy Scout Jamboree the weekend we were there, but they weren't disruptive. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Motorhome.
