Pine Mountain RV Resort, Pine Mountain, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

I have stayed in this campground many times for an overnighter on my way back from the Florida panhandle. Always stay in the newer section that has concrete pads but no real patio - just some stepping stones in the ground. I don't like that the pads have a curb on the left side. I always unhook my tow vehicle because I usually have to back up a bit to get on the pad correctly which is inconvenient. Also they have 2 sewer hookups but, unless I was staying longer and took out my additional sewer hoses, neither are do-able. I usually pull forward in the morning to dump. Wifi was good but the cable was fuzzy. Still it's good for overnight or a few days to visit Calloway Gardens. I don't like their non-refundable cancellation policy and never make a reservation until I'm on the road and know I'll be stopping. You can pay a higher price and get a refund if you have to cancel but that seems like gouging to me. I could understand this during high volume times but when I've been there the campground was pretty empty. Make sure you ask for Good Sam discount as it's not offered. We camped at Pine Mountain RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Do yourself a favor and have a meal at Eatz on the Corner. The food is all fresh, homemade and delicious. The best meal I have had in some time! It's a small place (only 9 indoor tables) but had no problem when we went for an early dinner around 4. Might get crowded otherwise.

Lakepoint Resort State Park, Eufaula, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

I stayed in this campground about 5 years ago and have not been back since. My first stay was not acceptable as the campground was unkempt and there were people living in the Deer Court loop, had fenced in their campsites and one had even built a rabbit hutch and was raising rabbits in the campground. Decided to give it a second try as it was just for one night. Stayed in Clark loop which is not full hook ups. The campgrounds are obviously not on the state's "to do" list to keep things nice. The grass was grown up. The bathhouse was sort of tidy (probably from lack of use) but wasn't what I would call clean and it was so dated that I would never use it. The shower bench's looked moldy. There were ant hills everywhere and by morning the side of my MH was covered in ants. The interior road was bad in spots but passable. The sites are paved but so narrow (probably from just years of the edges wearing away) that I literally couldn't see the sides to back in and the hookups were all on the wrong side. Sites are assigned at checkin but we moved and took some time picking a spot as many of the electric boxes were covered in spider webs and dirt dobber nests which made me hesitate to hookup. There is no patio whatsoever. There were fire rings but some were broken and probably not safe given the high dry grass. The campground itself is a beautiful spot and if the state would take a little care it would be great. The only highlight was that we did have a nice breakfast at the lodge overlooking the lake. I will not camp here again. We camped at Lakepoint Resort State Park in a Motorhome.

White Oak Creek Park COE, Eufaula, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the most beautiful campgrounds that I have stayed in with breathtaking sunsets. There are no "bad" sites and most have a lake view. There are some that are closer than others, but sites are staggered somewhat to add privacy. Generally, there are 2 loops that may be reserved by site and two loops that are first come/first serve. This time of year, there was no issue getting a site although I would definitely want a reservation if staying over a weekend just to be safe. Bath house was dated but clean. Each bath house has a laundry but the equipment was old and rusted so I chose to wait.

There is a large parking lot/boat ramp right before the campground entrance where I stopped to unhitch the car as there is not room at the check-in gate.

I stayed here a week and wished I had longer. I will definitely return. We camped at White Oak Creek Park COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Barb's Country Kitchen is a delicious all-you-can eat lunch buffet with loads of fresh vegetables, assortment of meats (best grilled pork chops ever), salad bar, dessert and drink. There is a dollar store at the corner of Hwys 431 & 95 which is well stocked and if you head toward Eufala, there is a Walmart about 3 miles down the road.

Santa Rosa RV Resort, Navarre, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

This is what an RV resort should be. Beautifully landscaped, paved streets and sites, great pool right on the sound, gathering area with firepit, sandy beach and pier. Although sites are a bit close, the landscaping provides privacy and separation and I had no issues. I really loved the pool overlooking the sound with plenty of shade for the non-sun worshipers. I couldn't think of anything more that could be added and staff was great. I would definitely return. We camped at Santa Rosa RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Emerald Beach RV Park, Navarre, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

I was not quite as happy in this campground as other reviewers. It does have the amenities: pool, small beach on the sound (not the gulf), pier, etc. However, I was extremely disappointed in the sites. First, part of the campground has full concrete pads and a bit more space. The other half just have two concrete strips. Took me a while to get on the strips so that the levelers would also hit.

We weren't told that the gravel area in front was for parking so we pulled forward to allow for the car in back which barely fit. Had we not taken the car off there is no way we would have fit onto the pad. It was advertised as a 45' site and my motorhome is only 28' so anyone else coming in would have a problem if they didn't unhook. We were totally on top of our neighbors and with the parking in front, out main view was of a truck. Being so close, I found the small patio useless.

I was only here for a couple of nights and glad that I did not book more. I will not stay here again but recommend that if you do, ask for the larger sites with full concrete pad. We camped at Emerald Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sherling Lake Park, Greenville, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

I have stayed at this park many nights heading to Gulf Shores. It's a great stopover and I intend to stay longer sometime to explore around the area. Check in is easy and everyone is friendly. You can have an escort to your site or not. (I don't need one as I have know the park.) You can reserve by site if you call ahead. I have stayed in #41 before and it is a level pull-thru as was #25 which I stayed in this time. Bathhouse is a bit dated but spotless. We camped at Sherling Lake Park in a Motorhome.

Rutledge Lake RV Park, Fletcher, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

The road to the park has an extremely sharp turn so much so that there is a warning light. Also the drive into the park has a deep dip that is not marked so go slowly. Park is clean as are bathroom, laundry and clubhouse. However, the clubhouse is in need of updating and the laundry had only 4 washers and 2 dryers working. Totally inadequate for this size park and nightly rate. I had to bring my clothes back and hang them inside to dry. Main drive that circles through the campground is paved but side roads and sites are all gravel with little to no grass. There are some sites that can handle a big rig however make sure you are put into the correct size site. The staff does not seem to have a good idea of the length of each site. I was told my site would fit up to 50 feet however there's no way anyone much larger than my 28' rig could've gotten in here. There is cable but most channels are very fuzzy. This is probably fine for an overnight stay or a day or two. However I would not stay here again due to the cable issues and the terrible laundry conditions. I think this park is overpriced for what you get. We camped at Rutledge Lake RV Park in a Motorhome.

General Coffee State Park, Nicholls, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful park with some wooded trails to explore. There are 2 campgrounds. Campground #2 is the better one as it has paved interior roads and gravel sites. Campground #1 is dirt/sand roads and campsites. You are not on the river but can get there via trails. There is no over the air TV at all. I saw one satellite but don't know if there was a signal as it is very wooded in the camping area. The town of Douglas is about 6 miles away and has a Walmart, CVS drug store and a number of fast food restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We had to ask to have a dead limb removed that had fallen and was stuck above us in some vines. The maintenance crew was at our site quickly and removed the limb along with 3 truckloads of other vines/branches that might have been a hindrance when we had to leave. We camped at General Coffee State Park in a Motorhome.

Cordele KOA, Cordele, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This was a pleasant surprise as I haven't stayed at a KOA in some time. Seems like many were going downhill. This KOA was well kept and the staff was very nice checking us in, figuring discounts and helped us to our site. Cable was great and, as in a previous review, there is a train but it is very distant and did not keep us from over sleeping. Easy access to I-75. We camped at Cordele KOA in a Motorhome.

Montgomery South RV Park, Hope Hull, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This campground has added new sites since my last stay a few years ago. Sites are level pull-thrus. Staff is friendly and showed us to the site. Restrooms are generic but big and very clean. It is convenient to the interstate and good for a stopover or for a few days of seeing the town. We camped at Montgomery South RV Park in a Motorhome.

Cherry Blossom RV and Mobile Home Park (formerly Pecan Point RV Park), Dothan, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

I have been staying at this park for years on my way to the Florida beaches. This year the sites are level gravel and the staff indicated that they will be paving sites in the future. Staff was very friendly and made a huge point out of getting our comment as to how level the gravel site was. I was pleasantly surprised that it was totally level with no need for adjustments. Bathrooms are old but very clean. There is a Flying J and Walmart close by. It is close to the road but the noise was not an issue. A number of permanent residents but all very tidy. We camped at Cherry Blossom RV and Mobile Home Park (formerly Pecan Point RV Park) in a Motorhome.

The Great Outdoors RV Nature & Golf Resort, Titusville, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a park where all sites are owned. Some are just slabs to park on and others may have homes with RV covers. Some owners rent out. Rate was very reasonable. Had a beautiful site overlooking one of the small lakes. There is a restaurant and café on site. Also, has a service center on site. This was very helpful as my a/c wasn't working well. Eagle Service took care of everything by sending someone to diagnose at my site, handled all the extended warranty to have the a/c replaced and helped get a "chill grill" expedited to add on to the new a/c. Couldn't have had better care anywhere and all service was right on time. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Nature & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.

Very nice park - even had some shade. Sites are gravel/grassy but very level. There are a few drainage dips but did not cause any problems and my tow car is really low to the ground. Staff was very nice. Sites were close but not uncomfortably so. It was very convenient as the campground is on the road that takes you into St. Augustine. Coastal Georgia RV Resort, Brunswick, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Park with paved streets and long, level paved pads. WiFi OK. Facilities clean and has small pool. Have stayed here a number of times and this is the first that we had an issue with electrical. The post circuit breaker kept popping. Talked to the office but instead of having maintenance check it out told us that it blew anytime it was close to 30 amps. That didn't make sense because it would just shut off randomly with no relationship to what was running or added to the load. We are very aware of amp draw for every appliance and had no issues at other parks before or after. We ended up using only the a/c and kept the fridge on gas. Not a pleasant stay since we couldn't even use the convection oven. I would still stay again but would require service if had electrical problems again. We camped at Coastal Georgia RV Resort in a Motorhome.
