Blaze-in-Saddle, Tucumcari, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed one night here while traveling through New Mexico. We did not use the bathroom facilities (apparently only one bathroom/shower for the whole park to use). The park was full the night we stayed there. Not able to connect to the free park wifi. The price was right ($12 plus tax using Passport America). We camped at Blaze-in-Saddle in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Did not disconnect the tow vehicle so not sure of any restaurants and/or tourist attractions nearby. Also, we recommend not traveling on highway 39 north of Tucumcari with motorhome/trailer. Lots of highway construction delays north of town plus the road was very bumpy.

Laughlin / Avi Casino KOA, Laughlin, Nevada

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This KOA had many open empty spaces. For some reason we were placed midway back in the park. There is only one restroom area at the front of the park so it is a hike to the front office/restroom. We never did get the wifi to work. We were able to check in before the office closed, but did not notice the wifi was not working until after she had closed the office. The office closed at 4:30 PM so no help from the front desk. Also, if you check in after the office is closed you have to wait for a person from the casino to pick you up in a golf cart and take you to the casino to check in. One of the worst KOA experiences we have ever had. We would not stay at this park again. We camped at Laughlin / Avi Casino KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a swimming pool plus other amenities at the casino across the street that KOA guests have access to, but we did not check out. We did enjoy a nice fireworks show that night. On a positive note, we did not hear any road noise during the night - very quiet. **Also, if you take the River Road from I-40 it is very bumpy. Lots of potholes.

Travelers World Campground, Clovis, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This RV park is on Highway 60/84 west of Clovis. The front of the park faces the highway and the train track is behind the park. Most of the RV parks in Clovis are near the railroad track so you can't really escape the train noise (although the road traffic was louder). The wifi was great. No cable tv, but we were able to get over the air channels. Spouse mentioned the key pads for the mens restroom was difficult to use. Also, Cannon Air Force Base is nearby so you may hear planes overhead. The front desk clerk was very nice. I don't think we would stay in the Clovis area again due to all the road noise and train noise. We camped at Travelers World Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The office for the campground did have Blue Bell ice cream (pints) plus some other frozen treats. It looked like she may have also had a few RV supplies for sale. We arrived just before the office closed (7PM) so I did not have a chance to look around too much. This park is located on the outskirts of town so it did not look there were any restaurants within walking distance.

Havasu Falls RV Resort, Lake Havasu City, Arizona

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a large campground. Basically a parking lot with rv spaces. The sites were level and easy to maneuver. Our spot was near the restrooms/clubhouse. Spouse used the shower facilities and mentioned the water was not very hot. They did have a nice clubhouse with an exercise room. The swimming pool was open, but we did not use. Also, the only place to dump our trash was at the dumpster as we exited the park. This rv park no longer accepts the Passport America discount. Clerk told me they were under new management. No cable TV available. Plenty of over the air channels. It was quiet at night - did not hear any road noise. We camped at Havasu Falls RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If traveling to Lake Havasu City I would recommend traveling from the north (I-40). We came up from I-10 (very windy roads/2 lane most of the trip). Easier to access from the north plus there is a Pilot Travel Center on I-40/AZ 95 highway.

Delta Ridge RV Park, Inc., Forrest City, Arkansas

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for one night. Easy on and off access from interstate. No restroom/showers available. We did have issues with the electrical box. Kept throwing the breaker. Also, there seems to be a neighborhood dog that wanders the park. We camped at Delta Ridge RV Park, Inc. in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There were stores and a few restaurants within walking distance. We did not leave the campground so not sure what they are like. This rv park was fine for an overnight and we would would probably stay here again if needed. We paid $33.00 (cash) for the night. It is near the interstate, but with the a/c on the noise is not too bad.

Casey KOA, Casey, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed in this park one night en route to Michigan. KOA located in the middle of farmland near interstate. Quiet at night. Did not hear the highway noise. The brochure listed many rules about the park. One of the questions they asked while I was paying was whether we planned to unhook our toad or not. At this point we were not sure whether we were going into town or not. The pull through was barely long enough for our 27' Class C plus our toad. We would not stay here again. Also, they did have wifi, but there was a warning on the rules page stating the wifi use would be monitored. I have never had much luck using public wifi once everyone is in their campers for the night anyway so ended up using personal hotspot. We camped at Casey KOA in a Motorhome.

Randolph Rampy RV Park, Tatum, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

We spent one night here en route to northern New Mexico. It is free camping. There are new electrical boxes on the poles, but the old electrical boxes are kind of slumped over next to the ground (not sure why they have not been removed). There is also sewer hookup. The water hookup was a little tricky to use since it was down in the ground and half of the handle had been broken off (had to use pliers). It is located two blocks off the highway so there was not much road noise at night. There is a beautiful park/playground with shade one block away. We walked to The Steak House cafe a few blocks away for supper (great meal and inexpensive!). We would stay here again. We camped at Randolph Rampy RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sundance RV Park, Cortez, Colorado

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park in Cortez. Fortunately we had a reservation since the park was full when we pulled in at 5 P.M. The bathrooms were spotless. The laundry room was also clean (did not use). Free wifi plus had cable tv channels. Very quiet park considering in the middle of town with major road in front of park. We camped at Sundance RV Park in a Motorhome.

4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground, Ouray, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 3 nights in September. Pull through sites very close together. Free Wifi was nonexistent (even in the tv room near the office). The bathroom area, tv room and laundry room were spotless. Make sure when you are checking in to turn right when you arrive at the park office so you will be headed in the correct direction to park your RV. There were no signs at the check in so as a result we went the wrong way and had to disconnect the toad and turn around to get in the park. Also, driving into town the signs were almost hidden for the park location. The park appeared full the entire time we were there. It is handy to downtown. We did walk to the Hot Springs nearby which was fun. There are quite a few mobile homes in the park. There is no cable tv (only 3 PBS stations over the air), but they do have a lending library for DVD's and books in the TV room. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Red Barn RV Park, Roswell, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We spent one night at this park in mid September en route to Colorado. We used one of the two pull through spots in the park. This is a small RV park, but it was fine for one night. We did use the laundry which is open 24 hours. They do have a lending library for books and DVD's which was nice. Also, an honor system for paying for the ice, sodas, etc. The park is located on the outskirts of town so you would probably have to unhook your toad to explore Roswell. The owner was very nice. We camped at Red Barn RV Park in a Motorhome.

Buckhorn Lake Resort, Kerrville, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed in this park for 2 nights in mid September. Convenient access from I-10 westbound. Did not really use any of the facilities besides the shower/bathroom area. One of the pools had been drained for maintenance issues. Nice long pull through spots (level). Spaces were about 10-12 feet from neighbor next door. Nice concrete patio at each spot. It is near the interstate, but road noise not too bad with A/C on. It does have cable TV plus free WiFi. We camped at Buckhorn Lake Resort in a Motorhome.

Trailer Village RV Park, Roswell, New Mexico

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for one night enroute back to home. On the outskirts of town. GPS suggested taking the loop around town to get to park (tried going through town as suggested by clerk answering campground phone - ended up having traffic detour anyway). The park will work for one night. Quiet. Lots of flies. Did get a $3.00 discount by paying with cash. Contacted the park by phone that afternoon and was able to reserve a spot without giving a credit card #. We camped at Trailer Village RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lemoore Naval Air Station Campground (Military FamCamp), Lemoore NAS, California

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here to visit family members. The park is convenient if you have family members that live on base. Very hot in the summertime so be prepared since no shade is available at the campground (back of camper will face west so add some reflective sunshades to windows in camper). Nice level pads to park camper. The wifi worked great. There is a cable tv box, but we were notified that Directv is not longer available. A few over the air channels worked. Seligman / Route 66 KOA, Seligman, Arizona

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed one night at this KOA. This is a fine location for one night stop. We did have one concern that the bathrooms were not locked. It is convenient to the interstate since it is less than a mile away (as we were leaving the next morning we noticed a person camping under the overpass). Yes, there is a train track south of the campground, but it did not bother us since our a/c was on most of the time. The internet did shut down around 9:30 PM. No cable tv or over the air tv available, but there were several movies available to rent in the office. Also, local residents were using the laundry room (parking their truck next to laundry room door - not sure how rv's were supposed to get around the truck to park). We camped at Seligman / Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.
