Asheville's Bear Creek RV Park & Campground, Asheville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Very confusing on entry to the park. Sites crammed together. Pull-through sites are right up against a busy road. Lost power at site several times. Interior roadway rough. Wifi almost nonexistent. I do not plan on staying here again. It is a convenient location to Asheville activities. We camped at Asheville's Bear Creek RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Very beautiful campground, spacious site, very few other campers, super staff. Had to leave campground early due to death in family. We would camp at this campground again. We camped at Collier-Seminole State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Flamingo Campground (NPS Campground), Homestead, Florida

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

We were so excited when we pulled into the campground. We had the entire campground to ourselves! And when we opened our truck doors, we found out why--NP Welcome Committee consisting of 10 million mosquitoes. So I'd advise not camping here in September. Only a few sites had been mowed, so tall grass was everywhere. We only stayed two days because it was impossible to avoid the mosquito swarms. If you could find out the mosquito level and camp when the level is low, this would be a great campground. We camped at Flamingo Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

John Prince Park Campground, Palm Springs, Florida

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

stayed in one of the lakeside sites, which have a 2 week occupancy limit. Campground had plenty of sites available, which is typical for this time of year. Winter months will have the campground full, so if you want to camp there in Dec-Mar, you better plan on trying to make a reservation. Had a great time kayaking, and had plenty of "campground visitors"...iguanas, ducks, raccoons, egrets. This is a great county-run campground, and one that we will visit again. We camped at John Prince Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to enter campground from Congress Avenue. There is an entrance to the park on Lake Worth Road, but if you take this entrance, you will encounter a "Low Clearance" overpass with only 11 ft clearance. There is no prior warning until you get to the overpass.

Long Branch Rest and Ride RV and Horse Park, Live Oak, Florida

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

What a beautiful place to rest and relax! This campground is a hidden gem. Lots of wide open spaces, surrounded by horse pastures and paddocks, beautiful oak trees, and a totally unique bathroom made from a converted silo. Just a few miles from Live Oak, and less than a half hour from Lake City. This is sure to become one of our favorite campgrounds! We camped at Long Branch Rest and Ride RV and Horse Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Glen Maury Park, Buena Vista, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We chose this park after we decided not to stay at another park where we had made reservations. After the aggravation we encountered at the other park, this park was just what we needed to unwind and decompress. Office staff was superb. We stayed overnight in a 38 foot fifth wheel, water and electric (50 amp) hookup. Our site was in the lower camping area, "out in left field" (camped in the outfield of the baseball field), shaded, spacious, very nice set up. Nice city park, very beautiful setting with Paxton House being restored, deer roaming through, and huge covered pavilion for music events. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Glen Maury Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Montebello Camping & Fishing Resort, Montebello, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The worst RV park we never stayed in.Had made reservations for 2 day stay. Great direction warning on website, but when we arrived and drove through park (?), found no sites suitable for 38 ft fifth wheel. Very narrow winding road through campground, unlevel sites, with trees right up against the roadway. Decided not to stay; worse than old state park campgrounds. Made reservation at Passport America rate, but when we told the office personnel that we had trouble navigating through the campground and weren't going to stay, they charged us the full rate. Campground was empty, so it's not like our reservation prevented someone else from camping here. Would not have minded cancellation fee of 1 day at PA rate, but being charged 1 day cancellation at full rate was just wrong. Not a campground for rigs over 30 ft. We camped at Montebello Camping & Fishing Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
