Cold Springs Station RV Park, Fallon, Nevada

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Not much to add from the earlier reviews. Highway 50 is truly the 'loneliest highway in America' and after driving for miles without seeing anything, her is an oasis. Almost like crossing a desert in Africa, except that I have not done that before. The folks are welcoming and do expect a very down home, laid back reception. Lots of good news here as it is not at all crowded and the bar as mentioned is well stocked, clean and inviting. Well worth the time to get away from the big city feel and be part of the landscape and nature. Makes one feel like it was on a wagon train headed to California and you an make your own romance thereafter. We camped at Cold Springs Station RV Park in a Motorhome.

Crescent City / Redwoods KOA, Crescent City, California

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

Quirky is the best description. Big rigs have a tight turns and spaces, but still manageable. HOWEVER there are very few of them, like a half a dozen to be charitable, so make a reservation. The quirky part is strolling around the tent sites which are nestled, and I mean nestled in Redwoods. Like a troll habitat. Makes you happy you are in a big rig, but jealous on the romantic side. This is truly one of the most interesting places you can stay. We camped at Crescent City / Redwoods KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Close by is the most magnificent redwoods you will ever see. Jedidiah Smith is the closest and is magnificent. You will wish for a car with no top, and stop very frequently to look up at these monster trees. Awe inspiring. Same can be said of the redwoods just a few miles south. This is the place to visit and take your time. The coast to the north is breath taking. In Gold Beach you can take a Rogue river boat, skimming up the rapids.

Crater Lake Resort, Fort Klamath, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

BEWARE this is a new owner, young and extremely lacking courtesy. We booked a 50 amp site months ago and arrived only to find that they have only one such site and that they will not take 45' rigs. He was extremely rude and asked us to leave and would not help to find another place. This is very difficult as there are very few choices. The spaces are very tight in the best of cases, but if you have a small rig, you might like it. Just beware that there is only 30 amp with tight spaces and a very nasty owner. We camped at Crater Lake Resort in a Motorhome.

Missoula KOA, Missoula, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Can you believe a separate space to park your toad? And then all of the green, manicured grass. How about a total of 35 work campers to make the pool and area spotless. People actually in the pool as it was relatively warm and two hot tubs. Only negative was the main road which was quite filled with pot holes, which is probably not their fault. Other positive is that is not only quiet, but one block from Costco. We camped at Missoula KOA in a Motorhome.

Ennis RV Village, Ennis, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

They really take care of the roads, lawns and welcome center. There are not a lot of sites for big rigs, but those sites were smashing. They were along the 'new' section where the views over a huge meadow and the mountains beyond was breathtaking. One of the finest places we have visited. What you should not miss is a trip to Virginia City which is a living historical town quite unlike anything I have ever seen. It is so alive and features the frontier past without the annoying t-shirt shops. This is the real deal. We camped at Ennis RV Village in a Motorhome.

The Longhorn Ranch Lodge & RV Resort, Dubois, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

What a wonderful experience to have so much space and trees and peace around. They take great care of the facilities and have a lot of cabins for those who don't have the coach itch. I would definitely stay there again and enjoy the Wind River rushing beside the rig. We camped at The Longhorn Ranch Lodge & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Conveniently located and very friendly people. The Wi-fi was slow, but existent. They keep the campground in great shape and have a lot of pride. The sites are gravel and large enough for a pull-through 45 footer. Would recommend. We camped at Rawlins KOA in a Motorhome.

Garden of the Gods Campground, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

Very centrally located and a must stay for visitors to Colorado Springs. The construction is troublesome, but not a huge negative. However, I found the interior roads to be too narrow for a 45' rig and had trouble maneuvering. Sites were not level but a traveler learns to adapt. It is very close to the Garden of the Gods which is a must-see. Also near to downtown Manitou which has experienced a huge makeover and quite delightful to visit. For the healthy eaters of us, within walking distance is a Vegan restaurant, Adams Mountain Cafe which serves extremely good food. They also have normal fare, so you can easily go with different tastes in mind. We camped at Garden of the Gods Campground in a Motorhome.

Salina KOA, Salina, Kansas

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Mixed feelings about this one. The upside is that the owners are some of the most careful and diligent of any campground. They provide over the top amenities to individual sites as well as the cabins. There are a number of statues and playthings around. The downside is the gravel drives which are muddy in rain and no place to land your feet either when attaching. Still will recommend for the care of the owners. We camped at Salina KOA in a Motorhome.

Taos Monte Bello RV Park, El Prado, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Great views and sunsets. Make a reservation as it is small and intimate. Owners are really friendly and on site always. This is their baby and they treat it and you as such. They have candy in the shop, but this is not really for you as the young Indians come in and they give it to them. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Motorhome.

Glenwood Canyon Resort, Glenwood Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $80.00
Overall Rating:

Great location, but extraordinarily noisy from the train traffic all time of the day and night. Sewer not convenient, so an extension is probably necessary. The gravel was hard to walk on and almost impossible for bicycles. (There is a superb paved trail just outside, not to miss) This place is easy bicycling distance from the Glenwood Springs pool. Poor interior layout and shares the area with rafters, rafting and an underwhelming restaurant. We camped at Glenwood Canyon Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a great western wear shop in the center with authentic western stuff. If you are without kids, skip the Glenwood Springs pool and go for the much more adult and relaxed Iron Mountain springs which is close by. Take your bicycles up to Aspen and take the huge number of extremely friendly paths there. Including special busses for one-way trips. What else would one expect from a world class area?

This is a very small park with limited number of spaces, so reserve well in advance. The owners/staff are friendly and helpful, going out to the rig in the darkness to check the electricity. There are few amenities and it is best for a stopover. We camped at Raton KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The major attraction is the Dinosaur National Monument which is much better seen in museums around America as the artifact robbers were there well before you. Cool, (literally) building with not a whole lot to see. AS Colorado natives, we missed it our whole lives, and that proved not to be any detriment as once was more than sufficient.
