Dinosaur Provincial Park, Brooks, Alberta

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely park with ample spaces for everyone's needs from pull throughs to back ins in two separate loops. The water was not turned on while we were there, too early, but the office kindly provided a long hose to fill up from the store on our way in. Dump is easy access as well. Great hiking trails right from your camp space. Lots of wildlife from birds to deer. will come back whenever we can! We camped at Dinosaur Provincial Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Deerwood RV Park, Eugene, Oregon

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

I was hoping this park was far enough away from I5 to be quiet but state route 99 runs right beside it so very very noisy unless you are at the very back perhaps. Clean park. Friendly people but just way too noisy for us. We camped at Deerwood RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Valley of the Rogue State Park, Gold Hill, Oregon

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Stay away from loops A and B. The sites are very close together and the road is very narrow if you have a bigger rig. Loops C and D are much more spacious. Gracious camp hosts and rangers. Lots of loose dogs, so we're the camp hosts:( Saw one chasing a cat. Lots of road noise from I 5 but what do you want, you are next to the freeway. If you can get a site backing on to the river a bit quieter. We camped at Valley of the Rogue State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Colossal Cave Mountain Park, Vail, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $7.00
Overall Rating:

This is a tricky park if you are over 20' long. We arrived in a 37' 5th wheel after other parks in the area were full or washed out by rains. The man on the phone said to park at the bottom of the the hill and unhook and walk/or drive to the office at the top. It is a good hike, pull over by the entrance with the flags and walk up, or drive all the way to the end of the road by the one lane entrance to the right where the the hill is to the Posta Quemada ranch picnic and overflow parking, do not go into where the campground signs are unless you are under 20' (we barely made it in and out new girl sent us there!!!! Yikes!!!). After you are at the Posta Quemada parking lot, unhitch and drive back up to the office to pay. This is the only spot for larger rigs. The road is pretty bad condition, and we are used to bad Baja roads, slalom around the potholes :). Large flat parking lot for picnics and some campers before the dude ranch. Look for the cowboy statue and you know that is where you can park. There is a water spigot and bathrooms. Do not go up the hill in anything larger than 24' or you will have trouble getting out as the the one way road up is fine, the road down has a severe left turn that most rigs can't make. The park "Campground" is dry camping suited to very small trailers and vans it is quite wild and lovely but the overflow parking area is fine for big rigs if you don't mind slowly driving and avoiding potholes:) For $7 a night you don't get much but it is quiet and nice hikes on the Arizona trail. You can rent horses as well for riding at Posta Quemada as well. We'd come back again :) We camped at Colossal Cave Mountain Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Cibola National Wildlife Refuge, Ehrenberg, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

This is BLM land across from the Cibola National Wildlife Refuge. Turn left and go over a cattle guard and up a small hill. There were 4 others camped there when we arrived. There are maybe 6-8 spots before a bit of a dip we didn't want to chance with our 37' 5th wheel but lots of room to turn around and several different choices with fire rings. Beautiful view of the mountains, stark desert beauty and the sounds of birds across the way. Very very quiet! Loved it! We took the road South from the #78 to Neighbors road. It gets a bit bumpy/pot holes for half a mile just before the AZ border then is fine. Narrow bridge to cross but no problem. 18 wheelers loaded with cotton bales and hay bales use it, continue right to the Cibola Wildlife Refuge office and turn left over the cattle guard in front. We only stayed the night to check it out but will be back when we head North and will stay to wander around the refuge! We camped at Cibola National Wildlife Refuge in a Fifth Wheel.

Salton Sea SRA / Mecca Beach, Mecca, California

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Only about 8 sites with full hookups, 4 face the beach (139-142) They are an odd size 20'x40' we managed to back out 37' 5th wheel in sideways. Fabulous view of the Salton Sea sunsets and sunrises! Great campground hosts. Sea is interesting. Doesn't smell good close up but didn't notice any smell at the site. Train and highway close by but no whistles here. Campground to the North is quite noisy I'm told. Stark beauty here. Enjoyed it. We camped at Salton Sea SRA / Mecca Beach in a Fifth Wheel.

Beaver Dam Campground / Caney Lakes Recreation Area, Minden, Louisiana

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful forest campground-huge paved sites. Wide with tables, fire rings. Access to the lake is limited due to shoreline brush but what an amazing value for such a beautiful spot. Verizon signal was quite weak, no streaming here. We camped at Beaver Dam Campground / Caney Lakes Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Minden is about 10 miles away. Both gps's took us in the back way. Off the 20-take the 371 North through Minden, then the 79 to the 159. Follow the park signs, turn left on Caney Lake Road and you will arrive at the campground. Minden has stores for shopping but is a dry county. You have to go across the parish libe to the next town for alcohol sales.

Oak Mountain State Park, Pelham, Alabama

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful park.Rained the two days we were here but we will come back. Some sites are clustered together in odd ways in loop A not allowing for much privacy unless you are with a group. Would avoid them. 11-12-13 are all very close. 12 and 13 were plently large for our 37' 5th wheel but in the future would take spots 24 or 25 if you want full hook ups with more privacy. Loop B is more open with pull throughs but the sites seemed far more crowded. Good Verizon signal here as well. We camped at Oak Mountain State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We loved this park, yes it is tight and crowded, we're 37' long, but look where you are! Walking distance to so much. The Park Royal Mall and the fabulous Black Forest Deli. You can see the Lions Gate Bridge and walk over it if you'd like! This is West Vancouver, you are close to everything. Laundry was impeccable and the folks at the front desk were lovely, especially after I told them how much we enjoyed it, they were beaming! Beautiful Capilano River behind, go for a walk and watch the Great Blue Herons fishing! We camped at Capilano River RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
