Beaverview RV Park & Campground, McBride, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

30 amp & water, no sewer, dump station, slow wifi when we were there. Roads easy to navigate, very long pull-thru sites on grass, each with a small nice table. If full, then we'd be uncomfortably close to our neighbors, but they weren't full and we had abundant space. Very pretty grounds with lovely mountains all about. We camped at Beaverview RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Itch-Kep-Pe City Park Campground, Columbus, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived very late (9:30pm) and had to search a bit to find a sizeable open space, but then had no problem parking and setting up. Most of the spaces are quite large. No utilities at all, but most sites had a table. The place looks a bit rundown, but not enough to scare you off. The roads are very easy to navigate and the restrooms are acceptable. And, you can't be free...praise to the town for making this campground available to all. We camped at Itch-Kep-Pe City Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Wells Gray Golf Resort, Clearwater, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Most (all?) sites only have 30 amp and water, with a couple of shared dump stations. But, we bumped the score because of the the staff and cleanliness. They run a tight ship and keep the place in good shape, and will help you with reservations, laundry money, directions or whatever (like cardboard for a broken window). The setting is lovely and there is a 9 hole golf course to boot. The course is not top quality, but quite good considering the remoteness and you'd be hard pressed for a better setting. All sites were gravel back-in with plenty of room, a fire pit, and a good quality plastic table, 1/2 of them backing up to a lovely creek. Their location is ideal for exploring Wells Gray, without having to haul your rig to the end of the long dirt road to the park campgrounds. We camped at Wells Gray Golf Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Big Texan RV Ranch (formerly Amarillo Ranch RV Park), Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We liked this park. Don't expect lush, grassy landscapes, but they do have very spacious pull thru sites with good working utilities, including strong wifi. To exit the pull-thrus in our section you would pull forward and turn down a shared central aisle that everyone used; very easy and efficient. While they were very busy, check-in was still pretty quick and efficient. The grounds were huge and well-kept with plenty of room to walk the dog. We camped at Big Texan RV Ranch (formerly Amarillo Ranch RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

AB Camping & RV Park, Cheyenne, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Satisfactory park for an overnight. Utilities all work fine, interior roads had some huge potholes and sites are a bit tight, albeit manageable. Dirt roads with mostly pull-thru gravel sites. We called ahead because we knew we'd be arriving late; while they said no problem and they'd leave a map to our site, they did not and there was some confusion (and curtness) upon arrival. The place is a bit rundown, but not terribly so. We camped at AB Camping & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Northern Quest RV Park, Airway Heights, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

Northern Quest RV Resort is a shiny new RV park near the Northern Quest casino. They have a shuttle that runs to/from the casino. Currently, they only have regular and "deluxe" back-in sites, although they are building more sites, including pull-thrus. They are a bit pricey, but on par with other properties in the area. The grounds are immaculate, the sites are huge and will accommodate any rig. The main building with showers and restrooms is also grand and pristine. I could see they are building a big common fire pit area, along with the new sites, and there is already a very large pavillion with abundant picnic tables. They also have some small cabins on the grounds. You get a 15% discount with a casino player's card which is free. We didn't even step foot in the casino as we were visiting friends. I wish it were cheaper, but it's a very, very nice park. We camped at Northern Quest RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $110.00
Overall Rating:

Hands down, best park we have ever camped in. Hands down, the most we have ever paid. But, it's Disney and you get all the privileges afforded on-property guests including early entry and free transportation. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. The grounds are gorgeous. We saw deer every day, including a 12 point buck right behind the trailer one night as I set out to walk the dog. The sites are from an era when trailers were smaller, so they too close together and you have to be careful with initial parking. But, there is still plenty of room at each site and the utilities are perfect. The 100 & 200 loops are closest to Trail's End, Crocketts and the boat to Magic Kingdom. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Attend a campfire program at least once, they are so much fun and you get to meet Chip & Dale. The food truck at the campfire has good snacks and adult beverages. Crockett's Tavern is a great place for a drink; they have a nice line-up of flavored moonshine cocktails. We drove to every park except MK. We found it faster coming & going than taking two buses (one to the front, one to the park) and it was free for resort guests.

Maxie's Campground, Broussard, Louisiana

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Good for what it is, a zero frills low-cost overnight stop. Back in gravel sites that are easy to get in and out of, FHU, no Wi-Fi. We came in right after a tropical depression and there were plenty of big mud puddles, But we avoided most with a little effort. You can stay at another site for a lot more money or stay at Walmart for free, but if you want inexpensive digs overnight then this fits the bill. With movies and dining nearby, were happy with this as an overnight stop. The manager was very nice and easy-going. We camped at Maxie's Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Hoover RV Park, Hoover, Alabama

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This park is in the parking lot at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. Tons of identical full hook-up, pull-thu sites on asphalt. Each site has its own large trash can, which is nice. Roads are easy to navigate and utilities all work well. Our Wi-Fi was good, but there were very few people in the park. Our site was not long enough for our truck and trailer to park end-to-end, but we were able to put the truck on the side of the trailer and easily fit in our assigned space. We never saw any staff - we were assigned our site number by their reservation service and drove straight to it. We camped at Hoover RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Cove Creek RV Resort, Sevierville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

Friendly staff and fellow campers in a nice campground. Some pull/thrus, mostly back-ins, all gravel and level. We staid in one of the slots near the entrance and they were extremely roomy. Utilities good, including WiFi, cable and cell service. Small camp store onsite, and a pool and game room w/TV. Situated nicely between Pigeon Forge and Smoky Mountain NP. Luray KOA (formerly Luray RV Resort Country Waye), Luray, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Very well-maintained, immaculate, attractive park. They upgraded us to a deluxe site with a deck, table, deluxe fire ring, chairs, and view up on the hill. They have the biggest enclosed dog park I have ever seen. Our site was back-in, but we saw pull-thrus, too. Good location down a quiet road, but not far from Luray Caverns or Skyline Drive. Our lone gripe was the slow wifi. We camped at Luray KOA (formerly Luray RV Resort Country Waye) in a Fifth Wheel.

Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $74.00
Overall Rating:

Nice, but pricey KOA. There are a bunch of big rig sites up front and if you can get one of those you will be fine in a big rig. Otherwise, the sites are more wooded and narrow and suitable for smaller trailers. We found the wifi useless and the pancake lady surly. There is a well-provisioned store, nice pool, minigolf, play areas, and they offer Civil War tours on the grounds and for nearby Murphy's farm. They are also the best base for exploring Harpers Ferry. They are too expensive and charge a $10 resort fee to add insult to injury. We found our gravel site large enough and the grounds comfortable, but can't justify the price gouging. We camped at Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Liberty Harbor RV Park, Jersey City, New Jersey

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $90.00
Overall Rating:

Back-in sites on patchy, weedy asphalt. Utilities: 50/30 amp, water, no sewer, spotty wifi, good cell coverage, no satellite obstructions. There is a dump in one corner of the campground with reachable but slightly annoying access. The grounds are fairly scabby and there is almost nowhere to walk a dog. Neighbors are close, but no real issues parking or deploying. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. We would never recommend this place were it not for the location. There is no better alternative for NYC and as a place to stay and sleep Liberty Harbor works. We staid 8 nights and went to plays in midtown daily. Our commute: walk to Hudson-Bergen light rail about 1/5 mile away, ride 2 stops to Exchange Place, walk across plaza, take Parh train one stop to Wold Trade Center stop in Oculus, walk thru shiny well-lit Oculus to subway stops at other end of building, ride appropriate subway uptown. There are many subway lines to choose from, so you can usually get pretty close to wherever you need to go Our commute to Midtown was typically about 45 minutes. The trip home each evening was typically over an hour, because the subways and trains run less frequently and there is a bit more waiting. Each segment was $2.75. We got an unlimited seven day MetroCard, but that does not work for Path or Hudson. We added money to the metrocard to cover rhe Path trips and bought tickets for the Hudson rail. We camped at Liberty Harbor RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Winter Island Park Campground, Salem, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Good campground, with some quirks. A previous reviewer said it well --- this is a marina and public boat ramp where they added water & electric. That said, it's a great location to camp --- with simultaneous views of an asphalt parking lot (looking in) and great waterfront views (looking out). We happened to be right beside the boat ramp and took regular amusement in watching folks back their boats poorly down the ramp. The good stuff: a lovely gazebo on the water, benches galore, kayaks and SUPs for rent, a great loop walk that passes by a lighthouse, bluff, old fort, beach and harbormaster point (on the other side). While we used our own bathroom, I used the public restroom a couple of times and found it quite clean...there was a lady working diligently to clean it each morning...perhaps this is a recent change. (?) Demerits: Our power and water were on the wrong side of the coach and it took 2 water hoses to reach. Not all are like that, but many utilities are oddly placed. The dump site is down the road at the sewage treatment plant. DO NOT USE THIS DUMP is you are towing a big rig. The dump requires driving in, turning around, and coming back to the dump station. They have construction going on in the plant with dumpsters and other things blocking the route...we could not turnaround with our truck and 35 foot trailer. We had to back out and execute a full 3 point turn with trailer to get out. It took us 45 minutes; Never again. I think smaller trailers and Class A's and Class C's could make it, if you are comfortable with backing. Bigger rigs...forget it! The folks in the office were very nice. During our 5 days we saw gulls, comerants, squirrels, a woodchuck and a skunk! The skunk was under our rig and the dog flushed it after midnight, but the dog was on a leash and we stopped him from catching the skunk...and said consequences. A fog often rolls in overnight and early morning walks are glorious. We camped at Winter Island Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Meadowlark Park, Middletown, Rhode Island

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Great location. satisfactory park. We had asked for a FHU and mailed in a deposit, and when we arrived they only had an electric only site. Apparently this is standard operating procedure, so be sure you are OK with electric-only before considering this park. There is a dump station near the front where you can also take on water. There are also a couple of water stations scattered around the park. The water pressure is pretty low, so it takes a while to fill your tank. We think there are a few FHU sites up front, but almost all of those sites are taken by seasonal trailers. Also, those sites seem to be much closer together than the ones in the back or "the field" as they call it. The sites in the field are all grass, back-in sites with 30 amp only. The sites are fairly spacious with old picnic tables and very few trees. There is a bit of a slope to all sites in the field, but nothing unmanageable. There is no Wi-Fi in the field, they lost their provider. They take cash or checks, they took our personal check from Texas. So why stay here? You are less than a mile from Easton Beach, not much further to second beach and very close to all of the mansions and the center of Newport. You are literally minutes from anywhere in town. They do keep the park mowed and clean, and they give you a big packet of information upon arrival. We were comfortable during our stay notwithstanding the limited amenities. We camped at Meadowlark Park in a Fifth Wheel.
