South Jetty RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails), Florence, Oregon

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

We loved our 4 nights at this TT park. Very close to Florence, which we liked very much, and close enough to the beach for nice sunset. This TT park feels like a state park. We ended up choosing a water/electric 30amp site for more space in a quiet loop. We were close enough to the activity centre to reach the wifi hotspot but still felt like camping out in nature.

As with many TT parks, there are holes in road and some electrical pedestals are iffy. We now have a habit of walking around with an electrical device to check for reverse polarity before backing into a site!

A few of the neighboring sites were closed either due to maintenance needed or leaking water bibs. Also, the dump station was closed and a temporary one was set up in a loop (we did not use because it was in a curve and not convenient for us). We ended up following the park's recommendation to drive south 2 miles to the state park and dump for free. Laundry was relatively cheap and worked well. Free wifi worked very well. We got about 15 stations over the air with good reception. Bath houses were cleaned and well lit. All the workers we encountered were polite and helpful. Overall, a great TT experience! We camped at South Jetty RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

Park of the Sierras - Escapees Park (members only), Coarsegold, California

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

We loved everything about this park - from the welcoming people to the nice neighbors we had. Other than tricky roads in some loops, everything is great here! The entrance to Yosemite NP is 30 minute away with plenty to do at the campground or around. Wifi worked well, great activities, beautiful grounds. I could have spent a week just birding behind the clubhouse! We camped at Park of the Sierras - Escapees Park (members only) in a Fifth Wheel.

Thousand Trails - Turtle Beach Fish Camp, Manteca, California

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

There hasn't been a review here in a while for the TT Turtle Beach. We arrived here with low expectations after visiting another California TT that left us pretty disappointed. BUT we were impressed with the welcome we got from the front office that checked us in. Very informative, very pleasant. We chose a site (as it is the usual custom at a TT campground) in the section we were asked to be in. Our site was water and electric only. Electrical worked fine and water pressure was decent as well. Sites are spacious enough and we really enjoyed the quiet location (a few trains don't bother us). Wifi in the lounge worked great too! You are about 90 minutes away from San Francisco - quite a stretch, but a good home base nonetheless without the cramped campgrounds closer to SF. Gated entrance. Narrow and curvy road coming into the campground; don't despair, it is not a dead end street, you will see the TT sign at the last curb before entrance! We camped at Thousand Trails - Turtle Beach Fish Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

Thousand Trails - Palm Springs RV Resort, Palm Desert, California

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

We found TT Palm Springs to be a great park! We wished we could have stayed longer. Staff was welcoming and helpful. Laundry room were clean, well lit and at a great price too. Showers and washrooms by the laundry in our section were spotless. We enjoyed the pool and spa after our days exploring Joshua Tree NP. Overall, this is our favorite TT so far! :-) Only issue about our site 402 was the sewer connection. With an above ground level sewer cap, we were unable to use our sewer since our line was running slightly uphill. We would have changed site if we had stayed longer, but we were fine for our 4-night stay. We would come back to this TT! We camped at Thousand Trails - Palm Springs RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Thousand Trails / Pio Pico, Jamul, California

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

1. One RV dump station (north side) closed (without signage), the other swarming with bees. The camper before us was taking pictures of the bees surrounding him at the water pedestal. This is a law suit waiting to happen if anyone who is allergic gets stung while trying to use dump facilities. 2. During our stay, speeders were everywhere, including golf carts. We saw no enforcement in action, in spite of signs posted throughout the loops, at 5MPH. 3. All showers were closed; two out of three laundry rooms were closed. This meant that one laundry room was available to serve 447 campsites on your property. The line ups were ridiculous. To make matters worse. we couldn't even load our laundry card because the machine was located in a closed laundry room. And to buy a new card you have to go to the country store, which is nowhere near any of the laundry rooms. We had no choice but to use a laundromat in Chula Vista, which cost us an extra $15 in coins and gas. 4. We saw garbage everywhere. There was even a bag of dog poop left behind on our site. In addition, many of the long term sites were filled with clutter and extra cars parked. Our neighbour decided to park his car right next to our camping chairs in our site one night. 5. Every night during our stay and early every morning (during quiet hours), we heard loud yelling and doors slamming constantly. 6. Water and electric: we tried six power pedestals before finally finding a site that worked properly. Most of the ones that didn't were not marked as such. We reported an issue on site 133/134 and, four days later, we checked those sites and nothing had been done. Water pressure barely a trickle, even during off peak hours. Outdoor wash sinks were disgusting, with one faucet broken. 7. Communication: no cell coverage anywhere in park; no TV signal, no or poor internet, unless you purchase time from park server. We were only 15 miles from San Diego, how is this possible? We camped at Thousand Trails / Pio Pico in a Fifth Wheel.

Mingo RV Park, Tulsa, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Don't let the picture from the park's website fool you... This is a trailer park and every site in our row was packed like sardines. No way you could open up your awning if you wanted to. All sites are separated by wooden fences, which is sorta nice if you had space to sit outside, but you don't. However, for an overnight, it is a safe and clean location. The showers are great, the laundry room is the best and lowest prices we've seen since Louisiana. Workers are polite and responsive. We had an issue in our row, our electrical reader showed "reverse polarity" on all sites of the row. We camped at Mingo RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Onondaga Cave State Park, Leasburg, Missouri

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at the state park during our trek southwest for the winter. This state park did not disappoint! We loved our spot in the end loop, very private. Electrical and water at the site (except during winter). However, the wi-fi did not work. No cell/internet signal available and no over the air channels on the TV. The main showerhouse was ok (we use our RV bathroom anyway). Laundry worked well ($2 wash/$2 dry). Campground access is passed the visitor centre on the right. We camped at Onondaga Cave State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Harbortown RV Resort, Monroe, Michigan

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We found the park to be beautiful, with large roads to drive onto. Backing in to our spot was the easiest parking ever. Each loop has inner pull-thrus and the outside of the loop is for back-ins. We had a back-in and it was easy. The park was very quiet and mostly occupied by us snowbirds reluctantly going back home... Pleasant staff, clean laundry room and facilities. Pool looks nice but was closed during our stay. There are plenty of activities on site to do, I assume it is much more active during the summer! Only "complaint": a railroad track at the back of the park. I'd return here using a Passport America rate. We camped at Harbortown RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Chemin-A-Haut State Park, Bastrop, Louisiana

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Brand new restroom, shower and laundry (free) facilities! Excellent water pressure, although only 5 sites were occupied while we were here. The host came over to introduce himself. We needed his help with our site, as our electricity monitor showed us a red light when we went to plug in. Thankfully we were able to move to another site. Beware that sites 6 and 4 had faulty electrical boxes when we were there. The site we ended up on, site 23, was very hard to level due to the many holes at various locations on the pad. Other than that, this is a beautiful state park, very quiet and dark at night. We liked it! We camped at Chemin-A-Haut State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Alley Creek Camp, Jefferson, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Nice campground with old pine trees. Very nice roads, however please make sure to grab a map of the campground if this is your first time! The site numbers within the 2 RV loops are not marked on the road and sites are spread among 2 RV loops. We stayed in loop2 and the road to get to our site 222 looked like a driveway, so we missed it the first time. A couple of wooden signs would help. Other than that, it is quiet and well taken care of. We camped at Alley Creek Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

J.O.Y. RV Park (formerly Sonrise Village RV Resort), Cocoa, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 11 nights at this location - now called J.O.Y. RV park. The managers, are the nicest campground owners we've met so far. The pool is nice, exercise everyday, breakfast social on weekends, we were here over Christmas and there was a pot luck event on Christmas Eve. Pool, restrooms, rec room and laundry (W $1.50/D $1) are clean. Other than being a bit close to I95 and no fire rings, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! We camped at J.O.Y. Toronto West KOA , Campbellville, Ontario

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We chose the location due to its closeness to our friends and family. In this respect, that worked out well. I think that some parts of the campground are better than others in terms of what kinda neighbours you get. The staff is extremely pleasant, the main bathroom (near the office) was spotless at each visit and the pool looked decent.

The cons: proximity to the 401, low water pressure during peak demand, sites have raised common areas (so your trailer is lower) and the dump station is awkwardly located near tent sites, so if you are over 30 ft and there's a car at the first tent site by the dump station, it'll be challenging! We camped at Toronto West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
