Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA, Devils Tower, Wyoming

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Nice view of Devils Tower. Dump Site is a bad design/execution- the sewer hole is high in a cement pit, but the pit fills with muddy water from the lawns having been watered. There is no way to get to the dump without stepping into the muddy water. Then when you go to rinse your hose, the rinse water comes on at high power causing the muddy water to splash on you. Nasty any way you look at it. Felt like a scene from the movie "RV" with Robin Williams. We camped at Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

Yellowstone Park / West Gate KOA, West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $110.00
Overall Rating:

Everyone was very nice at this KOA. The campground cooks meals avail for purchase (as well as fancy coffee in the mornings). The location is very close to the West Entrance to Yellowstone, it is easy to make this a base camp for exploring the park if you can't get a site inside (ex. less than hour drive from camp to Old Faithful). There is also plenty to do if you just need to spend a day relaxing outside Yellowstone. This KOA has it ALL! We camped at Yellowstone Park / West Gate KOA in a Motorhome.

Western Hills Campground, Rawlins, Wyoming

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Huge Campground. Very basic. Large very level gravel field with hook ups and picnic tables. Easy to locate everything. Much needed stopping point on our drive, so very happy to find them. Our space was very spacious, but you could see some were closer together in another part of the park. They may be long term rentals though. People were very pleasant. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

Owners are fantastic, very friendly and helpful! Our site was in the back with a great patio. We loved it! Breakfast was delicious-loaded hashbrowns with eggs and toast. The kids loved the playground. Great location and shady spots. LOVED it and would stay again. We camped at Hot Springs / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

Teton Peaks Lodge & RV (formerly Teton Mountain View Lodge & RV Park), Tetonia, Idaho

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Nice quiet place, great for an overnight stay (and would stay again). We had a full hook up spot (they have dry spots as well). We walked over a few sites and had a fantastic view of the Grand Tetons at Sunset. When we made our reservation online we noted that we would be arriving after the office was closed, they called us that day and told us our site number and said they would leave our check in paperwork in our electric box. Very pleasant people. We camped at Teton Peaks Lodge & RV (formerly Teton Mountain View Lodge & RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Quiet, playground was closed for refurb. Heated pool was nice and hot tub was large and great! Laundry room was clean and in great shape. Tips for other Campers:

Rock and roll diner down the road has fantastic food and fun atmosphere!!! Great staff-highly recommend eating there. You have to disconnect your tow vehicle and park it in front of your rv and park your rv at the back line in the pull thru sites or you will get in trouble. Sites are designed to line up in a way that the slide outs aren't back to back with your neighbor and they are very strict about this. Just an FYI

Tips for other Campers:

The site we stayed in was not good for a tow vehicle but we didn't have one, so there may have been others that would have been. Water pressure needs a regulator, but they tell you that before you hook up. The high pressure makes for a fantastic shower when you use their showers though!

Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park, Mancos, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Staff very friendly. Right across freeway from entry to Mesa Verde and vistor center where you purchase the tickets to the ranger led tours. We were there 4 days and purchased all of our tour tickets the day before we began our touring. Tickets are only $5/person and kids under 6 are free. We bought rib eye steaks from the front office and they were fantastic. We stayed with friends - we were in site 60 (pull thru full hook up) and they were next door in site 46 (back in water electric only). Perfect location for us as one of the playgrounds was right across the road. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Motorhome.

Cortez is 9 miles east with a Walmart and a Hertz rental location. Durango is to the west about 45 minutes drive (cute little place to drive for dinner and fun shops (we even saw a banjo playing street performer outside of the Irish Pub we ate at). Four Corners is about 45 minutes drive from the park as well.

Ruby's Inn RV Park and Campground, Bryce Canyon, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

We were put in the overflow sites in the very back of the huge campground for some reason. (Yet we saw several empty full hook up sites throughout the park during our stay.)

I commented and was told: "It's great, sometimes deer come into the space."

Just a dirt parking lot. Most of the spaces in the park are beautiful, just not where we were (in our brand new RV).

All of the coaches with Utah plates were in the nicer spots. We felt like we were ostracized Californians. Who knows? Night sky was pretty, but that is Bryce in general. We camped at Ruby's Inn RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

RVs larger than 24 ft can't park in a LOT of the places inside Bryce Canyon NP. We have a 30ft coach and a family member with limited mobility, and ranger at the entrance said, "You aren't going to be able to stop at any of the popular stops but go ahead and drive thru."

So be prepared for an unwelcome greeting if you enter with a large vehicle. We still saw LOTs of beautiful sights at Bryce. Rubys itself has a lot of history, and the gift shop is full of information.

Tips for other Campers:

Laundry is $1.50 per load (coin only wash & dry). Office sells bags of ice and makes change for laundry. Lots of mom and pop places within walking distance. Walgreens and Walmart driving distance away. Holidaily Brewing Co. (a totally GLUTEN free brewery) is a short drive away, and has some pretty tasty brews. Dinosaur Ridge is a few minutes drive away as well - fun fossils and the kids enjoyed it.
