Thompson / Grand River Valley KOA, Thompson, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This a beautiful park. Well maintained and managed. Do NOT trust your GPS coming from the west on 90. It takes you way out of your way if you take exit 200. Take exit 212 and it's only 4 miles. We camped at Thompson / Grand River Valley KOA in a Motorhome.

Pope Haven Campground, Randolph, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We were in transit but planned to arrive early so we could drive through the lovely countryside. This area is known as the New York Amish Trail and there is very useful brochure and map of the area which the Campground provided. There are nearly 150 listed locations to explore including many Amish craft shops, museums and other points of interest. The Campground is also near the Allegany State Park which is beautiful. We intend to return and spend two or three days exploring the area more fully. We camped at Pope Haven Campground in a Motorhome.

Autumn Woods RV Park, Rochester, Minnesota

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is really a feeder park for the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. As such it offers special services for patients and caregivers but not much beyond a clean and neat environment for campers. The host told me that 99% of their guests are there to obtain medical care. We were there in transit only and it worked fine for that. We camped at Autumn Woods RV Park in a Motorhome.

Indian Campground & RV Park, Buffalo, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Very friendly hosts, nice gift shop and pool in a very nice little town with much historical interest in the area. Park has dirt roads with pretty basic sites. No fire rings but they provide portable fire half- barrels that work fine. WiFi was overwhelmed most of the time but cable worked well. Good place to stay if you want to spend time in the Big Horn mountains which are gorgeous. We camped at Indian Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Park is about 100 miles from Custer Battlefield. Mountains and local museum are well worth doing. Town has a nice IGA an ACE Hardware and a small medical clinic.

Rafter J Bar Ranch Camping Resort, Hill City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $62.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely park with spacious sites and beautiful views. It is close to many major attractions including Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Needles Highway, the 1880's train and the Mammoth site. The only major flaw is the lack of viable WiFi and, given the cost, they should fix that. I rated it a 9 instead of 10 due to lack of WiFi. We camped at Rafter J Bar Ranch Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Badlands / White River KOA, Interior, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice KOA with very nice staff. You need to be aware that you must cross through the Badlands National Park to get to the KOA and there is a $20 fee unless you have a federal senior pass. Also the KOA is about 14 miles from the highway and the last four miles is bumpy in a motor home. Otherwise it is a very nice park with lots of activities. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.

The Badlands National Park is truly a wonder of the world. Recommend driving the rim road at 6 AM for best lighting and animal airings. You are also close to Wall Drug if you like that sort of thing.

Rustic Barn RV Park, Kieler, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Have been here many times and were very pleased to find major improvements this time. All sites now have full hookups. This is a lovely campground, especially if you like pastoral scenery. There is much to do in the area including a very interesting 9 hole golf course and some great Wisconsin supper clubs. We camped at Rustic Barn RV Park in a Motorhome.

Play golf, then drive to Mineral Point historical site about 20 miles away - - climb the hill to the old mines and find out what "badger" really means. Drive the river roads, find hidden places like wineries and breweries

Saltwater Farms Campground, Thomaston, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Our all time favorite campground. Perfect if you like quiet and the most beautiful sunrises and night sky ever. Counted 9 satellites in one hour last night. Not really a place for kids although there is a pool and there is no store. WiFi is ok but no tv. Weekly stays minimum but lots to do in the area and plenty of resources nearby in Rockland. We camped at Saltwater Farms Campground in a Motorhome.
