Poor Farmer's RV Sales, Service & Campground, Fletcher, Ohio

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is literally in the middle of a cornfield, however, there is plenty to see and do both in camp and the surrounding area for the entire family. The Camp is very relaxing and straddles a meandering creek ending in a pond that offers fishing. There is a full service RV dealership and store on site. Most of the campers are long term tenants. We camped at Poor Farmer's RV Sales, Service & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Crater of Diamonds State Park , Murfreesboro, Arkansas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at the park four days two of which were spent prospecting for diamonds. Much hard work but no guaranteed reward for a fee of $10/day. However, the park is pleasant, the staff is friendly, an on-site restaurant/grill has good food at fair prices and for an extra $10 a pool/water park play area is welcome after a day in the sun. Lots of shops in town featuring geologic specimens and all manner of antiques but few restaurants or entertainment venues. We camped at Crater of Diamonds State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Coming from Little Rock on I-30 one should exit near Prescott AR and go north on SR 29 to SR 301 West which will eventually take you right to the Park entrance on your way to Murfreesboro. This route was being resurfaced at the time of our stay.

Seven Points Campground COE, Hermitage, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived at Seven Points in the early evening but had no trouble finding our site. We only stayed one night on our way to Arkansas but found this park to be small but idyllic with a small beach and swimming area. We enjoyed watching the sunset over the lake. We liked it so much we stayed another night on our way back. The campground is a bit hard to find but worth the effort. We camped at Seven Points Campground COE in a Travel Trailer.

The Campground is east of downtown Nashville off of I-40. It is also on the flight path of the Nashville Airport but noise was infrequent and minimal.

Sterling State Park, Monroe, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We camped on the South end of the RV park in a spacious area convenient to the bath house and a short walk from the beach on Lake Erie. The park was full for the holiday weekend but didn't seem crowded. Most of the sites had few trees for shade except for those on the outside loop on the extreme South end. Except for the beach itself there were few amenities and although we had good cell reception there was no wifi. There was a consession stand some distance from our site but no camp store or souvenir shop although you can purchase firewood. We camped at Sterling State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We ran into some road construction and detoured slightly north of the Park. This worked out well as we noticed a sign directing us to Calder's Dairy near Carlton, Michigan, a working dairy farm that is famous for their Chocolate Milk and Ice Cream. They provide tours year round with lots of farm animals (and smells) to enjoy. When you visit Sterling State Park bring your kayak/canoe or other floating equipment. Safety Note: No Life Guards on Duty.

Lebanon Hills Regional Park Campground, Apple Valley, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Advance reservations are required and can be easily made on-line, however the friendly park staff made a site available to us the day prior to our reservation. The sites at the front of the campground are closely spaced with little shade but more spacious sites are available in a wooded area on the north loop. Water spigots are available along the gravel road in front of loop. WiFi access is available near the Camp Office only. We camped at Lebanon Hills Regional Park Campground in a Tent Trailer.

F.W. Kent Park, Oxford, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Self check-in was easy but you will need to follow the signs a fair distance to find the actual entrance to the campground area. Once in the campground it would be hard to pick a bad spot as most have great views of the surrounding forested hills and meadows. We set up in one of two ADA sites that were a short walk from the centrally located shower facility. Water service is spaced evenly between most RV sites requiring transport or topping off your internal tank. There are several WiFi hot spots identified on the campground map that can help you to select a site that will assure you with great reception. We camped at F.W. Kent Park in a Tent Trailer.
