Keys Palms Luxury RV Resort, Key Largo, Florida
Date of Stay:
October, 2018 -
$65.00
Overall Rating:
This is an awesome little resort. Very clean and has to be one of the best pool/hot tub area anywhere as it is right on the water. Beautiful sunsets as well. The staff were all friendly. Our site was a pull through and the only real issue was the utility junction in the front of the site creates some challenges during our exit. The docks were being reconstructed while we were there so we received a 40% discount. We planned on staying on 2 days before moving on to the state park but needed up staying a total of 7 nights and canceling the state park reservation. we would absolutely stay here again. We camped at Keys Palms Luxury RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
We used Rainbow Reef for a few dive outings. They are first rate. Also we had dinner at Hobos twice. Good food and an patio.

Milton / Gulf Pines KOA, Milton, Florida
Date of Stay:
October, 2018 -
$68.00
Overall Rating:
This is an ok place for a night. It’s right off the Interstate so expect a lot of highway noise. We stay at a lot of KOAs and we’re surprised this is considered a holiday. There isn’t anything necessarily wrong with the place (other than the ridiculous night rate), but there isn’t anything that would bring us back. Sites were long and level but with the placement of the pedestal, sewer connection, raised concrete slab and palm trees it made positioning our 5th wheel a pain when you leave the park you have to either do a u-turn on a busy road or turn right into a gas station parking lot to make the turn to get back on the interstate. We camped at Milton / Gulf Pines KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
About 15 minutes to grocery stores, restaurants, drug stores. There are 3 fuel stations outside the park.

Oak Plantation Campground, Charleston, South Carolina
Date of Stay:
October, 2018 -
$60.00
Overall Rating:
A very nice park about 20 minutes from downtown Charleston. The largest dog run we’ve encountered. Site was level and with ample length. Close to other RV but luckly we only had one neighbor during our stay. Staff was friendly with the exception of Melissa. We wouldn’t rule this place out if ever in the Charleston area again but would look elsewhere first. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

CreekFire Motor Ranch, Savannah, Georgia
Date of Stay:
October, 2018 -
$65.00
Overall Rating:
This is truly one of the nicest places we’ve stayed. It’s only about a year old so everything is and feels new. We were in a paved pull through site in the front part of the park. There is a another section in the back along a small lake that is really nice as well. The interior roads are wide and easy to navigate, the sites are long, and all utilities worked great. The sites have a picnic table and a fire pit. I would say the only downside is the sites are relatively close together but nothing out of the ordinary. The staff that we dealt with were all very friendly. There is a walking trail, dog run, pool, kids pool, hot tub, arcade, etc. It’s about a mile off of 95 and about a 15 -20 minute drive into downtown Savannah. We would absolutely stay here again. We camped at CreekFire Motor Ranch in a Fifth Wheel.
Downtown Savannah/River Street is about a 15-20 minute drive.

Lums Pond State Park, Bear, Delaware
Date of Stay:
September, 2018 -
$37.00
Overall Rating:
This should be the standard for all state parks. Paved roads and sites, full hookups, miles of hiking trails, fishing, off leash dog area, non motorized boat rentals, etc. Our site was perfectly level and very spacious (it appears most sites are very spacious). We were only able to stay 3 nights here but would have stayed longer if our plans allowed. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Abel Mountain Campground, Braintree, Vermont
Date of Stay:
July, 2018 -
$40.00
Overall Rating:
A gem of a campground! I submitted a reservation request a few days before arriving and got an immediate response. Luckily they had a cancellation and had a spot for us on the river. The sites are VERY spacious and level. We had number 28 which backed up to the river. We had a huge "yard" in front of our RV. Plenty of room for the kids and dog. The campground also owns the property across the river where there are several miles of hiking trails. On Friday and Saturday they had live music. The owners are wonderful and really care about this place. Also...the WiFi is excellent We camped at Abel Mountain Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
Randolph has a nice restaurant, One Main Tap & Grill, with outdoor seating and is dog friendly. There is also a Dunkin Donuts in one of the convenience stores in town.

Diamond Caverns RV Resort and Golf, Park City, Kentucky
Date of Stay:
June, 2018 -
$1.00
Overall Rating:
This is the second Thousand Trails to stay at since we purchased our membership. It's just okay but we would likely not come back. They initial site they suggested for us would have been a nightmare. Zero shade, front door opens to neighbor's sewer, and probably would not have been able to open our awnings. We chose a shorter site in the trees. It wasn't bad and all the utilities worked well. ATT service is basically non-existent so we purchased the premium WiFi for $5.99 per 24 session. That was a waste of $. Dropped connections and slow speeds. Some of the buildings were in need of some TLC. Playground and pool were okay. The tent area looked a lot nicer than the RV area. It is relatively close to the national park visitors center. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort and Golf in a Fifth Wheel.
There is a Dollar General in Park City, a small grocery store down the interstate (north) and a Walmart in Glasgow. The NP visitors center is 7 miles from the campground.

Fort Massac State Park, Metropolis, Illinois
Date of Stay:
June, 2018 -
$20.00
Overall Rating:
We really loved this state park. We were concerned about fitting our 5th wheel (41 ft) into the sites, but had zero issues. The park is super clean and right on the Ohio River. There is a lot of shade. Each site has a fire pit and a picnic table. We were in site 16 (50AMP). There are some low branches, but nothing that impeded us. We camped at Fort Massac State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
The superman statue in town is fun to see. There is a museum and some photo ops.

Albuquerque Central KOA, Albuquerque, New Mexico
Date of Stay:
April, 2018 -
$58.00
Overall Rating:
This is an easy stop off of I40. We've stayed here a couple of times and will likely stay here again during our westward travels. We get a deluxe to accommodate our 5th wheel and both vehicles. There's a fire ring and picnic table at the site. The deluxe sites aren't overly spaciaous but suffice. Although the neighborhood is somewhat sketchy the KOA is clean and secure (they have a security guard at night). It's a busy KOA even during "off-season" so you may want to call ahead. We camped at Albuquerque Central KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Majestic Pines RV Resort, Willis, Texas
Date of Stay:
April, 2018 -
$46.00
Overall Rating:
While the sites were a little too close together the place was immaculate. FHU pull-thru with plenty of room to park. Some toad noise from I45 but not horrible. We made a reservation over the phone. Our receipt and reservation info (including site # and gate code) were promptly emailed to us. They have WiFi but I didn't receive the code and didn't bother with it since we only stayed one night. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Majestic Pines RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
On Saturday morning they had an RV detail outfit onsite. Also the Fish Pond Cafe is about 2 miles down the road (north on 75). Very good breakfast.

High View Campground / Bardwell Lake COE, Ennis, Texas
Date of Stay:
April, 2018 -
$16.00
Overall Rating:
This is a great little COE. We had a back in site on the water that accommodated our 41ft 5th wheel, truck and a small SUV. Electric and water services were fine. No sewer connections but. It a big deal for a short stay. It's about 10 minutes or less off of I45. Very quite. We camped at High View Campground / Bardwell Lake COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Ole Towne Cotton Gin RV Park, Quanah, Texas
Date of Stay:
December, 2017 -
$35.00
Overall Rating:
This is a gem of a park off of 287 between Witchita Falls and Amarillo. The new owner is super friendly. The pull through sites are long and level. We didn't have to disconnect and we had plenty of room for our additional vehicle. Power was fine and water pressure was adequate. The sewer connection is in the middle of the site. Right where I needed it. There is a cell phone tower in the field next to the park resulting in a great AT&T LTE signal. The cable was being worked on so we didn't try that. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Ole Towne Cotton Gin RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
Quannah is about 6 miles from the RV Park. There are some gas stations and restaurants in there.

Imagination Mountain Camp-Resort (formerly Great Smoky Jellystone Camp, Cosby, Tennessee
Date of Stay:
October, 2017 -
$71.00
Overall Rating:
Absolutely spectacular resort. Our site (most do) backed up to a stream. There is a lot for the kids to do including s game room karaoke, mini golf, and playground. It is expensive but we felt we got what we paid for. One of the best RV parks we've stayed in. The owner is great. The scenery is great. Can't say enough good things about this place. Already booked again for next fall. We camped at Imagination Mountain Camp-Resort (formerly Great Smoky Jellystone Camp in a Fifth Wheel.
Try out the Magnolia Tree restaurant. It's a tenth of a mile from the resort. They have specials every day. We went a couple of times. Also, there is excellent hiking from the Cosby Campground. About 5 miles from the resort.

Sallisaw / Fort Smith West KOA, Sallisaw, Oklahoma
Date of Stay:
October, 2017 -
$44.00
Overall Rating:
Nice KOA off of I40. Far enough off the interstate that noise wasn't an issue. Sewer and water was fine. Surge protector showed a ground issue and I was told that all pedestals show this issue when the park is full (which it was). When confirmed this. Owner was working to have it corrected. Sites were on the short side and there are trees to contend with. Overall a nice place to stay for a night or two. We would return if ever in the area. We camped at Sallisaw / Fort Smith West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
