Puerto Del Sol RV Park, Corpus Christi, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Staff was very courteous and helpful. Even though they were closed when we arrived the lady came out to greet me and provide information. When I returned in the morning the man cautioned that I didn't exit east as the overpass has removed many air conditioners. The overpass is lower than the sign says. The park is on a point surrounded by water. The conditions are controlled by nature, not the RV park. If you're looking for a pristine resort for $100 per night, this isn't it. I was looking for a safe place to park my trailer and get some rest. This was just what I wanted. The space was level. We camped at Puerto Del Sol RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The park is very close to the U.S.S Lexington. The museum is ok, but the U.S.S. Midway in San Diego is much better. If you have a choice, go see it instead.

Mission Bay RV Resort, San Diego, California

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

Before I say what I didn't like, let me say I didn't care at all that the park was just one big asphalt parking lot with stripes and utility connections. I also didn't care that the wifi was spotty at best. What I needed was a place to park my RV while I slept and while I played tourist. What I really didn't like is that they have a restriction on the age of RV's. Mine was new enough for now, but I don't intend to spend a load just to stay off Mission Bay's naughty list. To justify this snob attitude, the park should be the best ever. The wifi should be excellent over the entire park and there should be beautiful landscaping. As it is, they plunk down some asphalt and have the nerve to tell some folks their RV isn't pretty enough to stay at Mission Bay. On a side note, the city finally forced out the residents of the mobile home park so they can put in a resort. It will surround the RV park. I suspect the RV park won't be pretty enough for San Diego once the resort goes in. Just deserts. We camped at Mission Bay RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

I've toured several navy ship museums. The aircraft carrier US Midway was the best ever. I planned two hours and was there for five.

Marin Park, Greenbrae, California

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $76.00
Overall Rating:

This park is just what we needed and nothing more. We needed a place to park the trailer while we went to see the sights. There are no fire rings, picnic tables, etc. The staff greeted us before we got out of the truck and directed us to the parking area. We then returned to finish checking in at our convenience. This prevents congestion at the entrance. I hope other parks catch on to this. The staff volunteered information I would not have thought to ask about. The ferry is close enough to walk to for most people and easy to drive to for others. Parking at the ferry is free on weekends and holidays and only $2 during the week. Ferry fee is $11 to SF and half price for 65 and older. We camped at Marin Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The main reason we came to SF was to see Alcatraz. We didn't go there because it is booked up two weeks in advance. I wish we had known.

Sacramento Shade RV Park, Sacramento, California

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

First, I could never have parked my trailer without the very helpful assistance from the manager. We arrived after dark and the cramped quarters and lack of visibility made it very difficult for me to back my trailer safely. I'm sure the park was established when RV's weren't so large. Most of the spaces are occupied by long term residents. The two available spaces were very small. It is a nice looking park and work has been done and is continuing to improve the appearance of the park. We camped at Sacramento Shade RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
