Boysen State Park, Shoshoni, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

There are very few signs indicating the location of the state park. It is 11 miles from the road. If you come in from Hwy 26, There is one sign indicating to turn in for the park, and it is 11 miles in. However, that road is not marked, the park is not visible until one is close to it, and the road forks to the right. Which way do you go? You can't tell, as there are no more signs of any kind. Just a desert road. Help? So... We went back, and came in the way of Shoshoni, on Hwy 20. We went many miles until there was one small sign indicating to turn left for the park. When we arrived, the park host was new to the job, and virtually no help at all. There is no water, no showers, and the tent sites appear to have minimal area for a tent. This is for survival only. Not fun. I felt ripped off at the $17 fee. The good news is that the stars at night were awesome, and there was an incredible meteor. However, I didn't stay out long because of the mosquitoes. They didn't seem to be biting, but there were sure there. There was no heavy wind during the night, as we later suffered at Buffalo Bill State Park. We lost our tents at the latter location. We were around RV folks who talked into the night, keeping me awake. No supervision by a host. I felt miserable. This is for survival only. We camped at Boysen State Park in a Tent.

Make a detailed map if possible, before heading out. The navigation to this park is horrible. Where are the signs??

Buffalo Bill State Park, Cody, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Why were there no warning signs as to risk of high wind conditions in the night? My tents were broken in the wind, and we had to spend the night in our car. There is a wind break wall for the tent area table, but no wind break available for your tent. Tent at your own risk. This was the worst experience on my vacation. (Aug 18, 2016). No showers. The only running water is from a pump handle; clean water? No camp host available. For the misery I endured, this was overpriced at $17. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Tent.
