Bakersfield Travel Park, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Gotta LOVE the price ! - That was based on the average for a week. An unusual configuration nose-to-tail parking initially looked pretty good but many many long-term set-up there where the campers were VERY close to touching. I was lucky enough to be assigned #25/27 but saw several m size with a neighbor just a whisker away. Great staff and very helpful changing from daily to weekly rate. Very much in an "industrial" neighborhood with highway noise a constant hum ( read HUM!) and railroad with frequent trains - not enough to wake up or keep you up but ever present. Felt like it was a re-make of the Lord of the Flies (not the fault of the park) but really a LOT of flies. We camped at Bakersfield Travel Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Skyline Wilderness Park, Napa, California

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

What a great park - also a terrific facility for the area - so many things to do there - I had forgotten how much there is around this place. Was here last year and got rousted due to fires but despite the drought and very dry conditions (can't blame the park - can only imagine what it would look like all green) Stayed on a full hook-up site for the 2 week limit and they worked with me when I had to extend to fly back east for a funeral. This was my third stay here and will visit again for sure. We camped at Skyline Wilderness Park in a Fifth Wheel.

LOTS of things at the part itself - but right there in the "wine country" and a short 20 min drive to the Ferry to Frisco (which is why I chose it) - watch closely - the entry road (Imola) is a very busy 2-lane road and needs quite a bit of repair

Mount Shasta City KOA, Mount Shasta, California

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

I was traveling to a job at a KOA here in Oregon. KOA gives vouchers for overnight stays at other KOAs enroute. Check-in was smooth. The park seemed to be on the edge of town but easy to get to. The entry seemed tight as was one lane and thru a tree covered lane. Honestly didn't get to take a close look at the facilities - tried to find a view of the mountain to snap to send to family. I hope to be able to spend more time enjoying the Shasta area. We camped at Mount Shasta City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Benton Oaks RV & Campground, Corvallis, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park - with friendly staff. I was in the corner (A-1) which was perfect - not quite level but livable w/o any adjusting/levelers - all part pf the plan to see the Eclipse and the park filled to the gills for THAT event. The park is part of the county fairgrounds (the fair had ended a couple weeks before I arrived). The bath house was fine as was the laundry. Of course being fairgrounds it was out of town but not so far as to be considered "remote" . Next door to a older (a little tired) MHP but no concerns there. Would return for sure. We camped at Benton Oaks RV & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Trailer Lane RV Park, Weed, California

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Great little park - more like a converted "farm" with more of an open field with rows of nose-to-tail parking. Stayed twice this summer (savoring the novelty of the town's name) - very helpful and nice staff - had same sire both times - just used the electric both times as was really "on the way" elsewhere but prefer to stay a couple or few days rather than just overnight. Was at front of my row (not sure how someone would get out if parked behind me - though plenty came and went during my brief stays) Yes the c/g is between the hwy and a railroad but was do-able. More than willing to return. Can't blame them for the dust - the effects of the drought are everywhere. We camped at Trailer Lane RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Drive down to see Mt Shasta and the Butte - visible from the town (alas 2nd visit smoke/haze clouded the view) = a quaint little town full of friendly people - busy with logging industry - maybe should open a dispensary when Calif joins the others in Jan '18

Grand Sierra Resort RV Park, Reno, Nevada

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Let's start with the cost - $45 is average as Fri & Sat were $50 and Thu and Sun were $40 - for a pull thru 30 amp FHU site. Be sure to factor in the taxes and fee - my window tag said a $18 "resort" fee and a $2 "tourism" fee would be added daily - though my receipt showed a 13% tax added on to the $40 or $50 so THAT might be something. The "resort"name comes from the Casino/Hotel (and all that it offers) but DOES NOT apply to the RV Park. I had plenty of space between myself and my two neighbors - however my curbside neighbor and HIS curbside neighbor had NO room at all and his awning would have touched the other's slide. The RV park is a glorified parking lot - the 50 amp sites were paved the others were gravel. Roads were all paved but had be weathered and were quite rough in spots. A few trees scattered around - sites had no table, patio or fire pit/ring. A significant problem arose when the row I was in lost power mid to late afternoon 4 separate times on 3 days of my stay. I fired up my generator and used it for a few hours before even checking to see if power had returned. One day I decided "heck with it" and walked to casino and finished watching the baseball game on the TV in the kid's arcade area - then went and played the slots for an hour. At check in about 1 PM the staff member couldn't get the computer working to print my door tag - and said he wasn't sure my site had been vacated as hadn't "done the check yet". Awful pricey for what I got. We camped at Grand Sierra Resort RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Coachland RV Park, Truckee, California

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

A nice place and well appointed - just kinda pricey at $60 a night - my site was one of a few I saw that were actually a single - where most were "back to back" with a service "island" between and a few looked like their slides came very close to touching backs. Staff was very helpful as I called ahead to say I was going to be late. Gotta say it was nice to escape the heat of the valley and be at elevation. With all the trees (being at the end of a row) there was enough break for my sat to work - I DID hook up to the cable - but possibly can blame my TV never got to watch their CATV. We camped at Coachland RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Skyline Wilderness Park, Napa, California

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

A good park. I was there for the max allowable time (14 days). Sites were well appointed (no fire pits, but Calif is still getting through the drought and potential fire damage). To be totally honest, I didn't do much of anything at the facility but the staff was great (even brought my expected package to my camper). We camped at Skyline Wilderness Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Not too far from town (road to campground needs paving) but in and out of town was very easy. Downtown area very pleasant and had relaxed feel. Nice river walk - about 40 min from Ferry to Frisco.

Wine Country RV Resort, Paso Robles, California

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

Was stopping for a overnight while on the move (booked 2 nights - as like a little longer rest on the drive). California prices is the only thing I can say (am spoiled by years of work camping and housing allowances I guess). It was right on my route but still a way off the beaten path and I think pricey for the location. I stayed in the "new" section but was still a little tight getting the camper out of the pull thru. Sites could have been a little farther spaced but were well equipped. Alas didn't use any facilities - missed out on the happy hour. Another one that was a little hard on the wallet. We camped at Wine Country RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Santa Cruz / Monterey Bay KOA, Watsonville, California

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $99.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park - nice family park. Yeah ! I know KOA can be expensive but for where it is - remote as it is - was really pricey at $1200 for 14 days (one night free - Mother's day) and that is with the KOA card discount. Well groomed sites, level and very clean. Staff was great - very helpful and attentive. To be honest - found the place while looking for workamper position- but decided to just visit and not work LOL. Just a little rough on the wallet. We camped at Santa Cruz / Monterey Bay KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Desert Springs Spa RV Park, Desert Hot Springs, California

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This is great little park - out of the way - a really good place to lay low and do lots of nothing. The place changed hands and the promise of renovations and upgrade. Truth be told it does need some work. Some of the roads are really beaten. The spa/pool was nice but the bathroom could use some upgrading. I had a corner site so almost a private parking spot for my truck. Mgmt was great - hard working guy who was very friendly and helpful. Will keep it in mind when going back . We camped at Desert Springs Spa RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Montgomery South RV Park, Hope Hull, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This is my second stop here - first time was Summer 2012. Both times just passing through. Both times really liked this place. Owner/staff very friendly - escorted on foot to site and it was nice being warned about the water pressure. Though I just hooked to the electric and passed on water and sewer (both times), this time I used the bath/shower. I inadvertently used the ADA room which was very spacious and comfortable, though there were no grab bars near the toilet. I was glad they were there in the shower as the soft water and soapy feet make it tricky for bare feet on the tile shower floor. This is a little gem tucked away almost out of sight of the highway, but well worth stopping even with the limited amenities. We camped at Montgomery South RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Spartanburg NE / Gaffney KOA, Gaffney, South Carolina

Date of Stay: January, 2013 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice park, really pleasing to see. Kudos to fellow Workamper s & KOA workers. Though I was doing a mad dash, cross country run and stayed just the one night: never even unhooked the truck and camper. I saw a prior review that mentioned sore repair of storm damage (?) and I think I must have been given one of the newer/repairs site. Nice level crushed stone site: possibly dedicated to the very short stay over. I could see the area where sites were more landscaped and "prettier," but like I said, I was here just to relax and sleep. The staff was very friendly and host offered to help with the set-up, until he realized I was done once I pulled in. A great looking place, and I hope to stay again when I have more time. We camped at Spartanburg NE / Gaffney KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Auburn RV Park at Leisure Time Campground, Auburn, Alabama

Date of Stay: January, 2013 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

AGREE with the signage warning: it IS right off the interstate and the c/g sign is part of a smallish sign that points more to a parking lot than to any specific facility. Then you will drive around the perimeter of that parking lot to get to the c/g. The c/g itself is on a hill overlooking a major parking lot that mist be used for football season. I am not sure I agree with the "big rig" friendliness. Though the sites are a mix of pull through and back in, several of the corners were tight for my truck and 35' fiver. It was more "off season" and the office was closed when I arrived, but the registration process went well and I chose the upper most site which allowed me a quick get-a-way in the morning. CATV and WiFi worked well. The manager's wife brought me my receipt and WiFi code shortly after I had finished my limited set up. (I left truck and trailer connected.) All in all a good place for a overnighter on the road, or maybe a weekend for a game. We camped at Auburn RV Park at Leisure Time Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
