Fort De Soto Campground, Tierra Verde, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

We loved this park! We stayed the week after Memorial Day. The campsite is long and private. Even though our neighbors are close by there is vegetation between campsites that makes you feel like you are in a private location. The roads and campsites are packed sand, easy to drive on. Roads are windy and narrow with many trees, just take it slow and you will be fine. The bathrooms were spotless, they were dated and did NOT have air conditioning but were in good shape. Our dogs loved the dog beach. We also visited the fort and the museum. We had good cell coverage with Verizon but no service with ATT. We got 60+ tv channels from our antenna. Each campsite was electric and water only with a dump station at the entrance to the park. We will definitely camp here again, but not during the summer due to the heat. There are many restaurants close by on St Pete Beach. There is also a Publix not far from the campground. We camped at Fort De Soto Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Forsyth KOA, Forsyth, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

We stopped at this KOA on our way back to Florida. We needed a campsite with full hook up and laundry as we were getting our 5th wheel cleaned up before putting it back into storage. This campground had Full Hookups with 30 and 50 amp Electric, Water, Sewer, and Cable TV. The laundry facilities were good with 4 washers and 4 dryers. The cell services was excellent. This KOA also has a pizza shop in the camp store~ and they deliver to the campsite. The pull thru site we got was very long and can accommodate any size rig. The campsite is dirt and it did rain hard so there were puddles, it seemed to drain well once the rain stopped. We got a visit from a flock of geese along with their baby chicks There is an Ingles grocery store near by. We went into town and ate dinner at Georgia Bob's BBQ. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Forsyth KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Point Mallard Park, Decatur, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a fun campground. Yes it is a county park but there are so many amenities that you will not be bored. We only stayed 1 night and wish we could have stayed longer. There are bike trails along the Tennessee River, a water park, a ice skating rink, playgrounds and softball fields along with soccer fields. The campsites are all shaded by the trees and are close together. We were able to get one of the pull thru sites. The campground is close to shopping, and restaurants. Cell service was excellent. We will definitely be back. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Carroll's Sausage and Country Store RV Park, Ashburn, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a bare bones campsite. Easy on and Easy off from the Interstate. You go into the Country Store and pay for your campsite and you get a $10 Coupon to use in the store. That makes the $30 campsite really a $20 value. The campsite is a full hookup with electric, water, and sewer. There is also a good BBQ restaurant. The cell service was excellent. The highway noise was noticeable but you are right next to the highway. The 20 camp sites are first come, when we got there at 5pm there was only 1 other campsite taken, that night another RV showed up for a total of 3 campsites taken for the night. The campsites can handle any size rig. The only reason we unhitched was because I needed to get gas for my truck. We will definitely stay here again for a quick overnight stay. We camped at Carroll's Sausage and Country Store RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Guntersville State Park, Guntersville, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park for 5 days and attended the RV Entrepreneur's Summit. This is a get together of full time and part time RVers who work on the road. Everyone camped in the campground and had seminars in the lodge. The campsites were very nice, we had one of the pull thru sites. The sites were very close together. We did have a fire pit and picnic table along with full hook ups, but no cable tv. The campsite overlooks a Lake Guntersville, and is great for boating and fishing. There were also lots of trails for hiking and biking. We say deer every night feeding on the side of the road. The restrooms were clean and the laundry facilities cost $1.50 for washer and $1.00 for dryer. Our jeans and towels took 2 cycles to dry. Cell signal was good without the booster and GREAT with the booster on. Both Verizon and ATT got 5 bars with booster. This was a great park for our conference because of the large number of camp sites, but will probably not be back unless for a conference. The sites being so close together it made us feel more like a private campground and not a state park. We camped at Lake Guntersville State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Florence Marina State Park, Omaha, Georgia

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This state park campground is very peaceful and quiet. Site 31 is a very long pull thru site. The total length of the site was 135' so any size rig will fit. The campsites are surrounded and shaded by many pine trees. Located right next to a 45,000 acre lake with a marina. This state park is only 9 miles from Providence Canyon State Park (aka... Georgia's Grand Canyon). Unless you are a fishing or boating enthusiast, there is not much to do at the campground. You are also quite far from any grocery store or gas station, so bring what you need with you. We got 1 bar with Verizon and 2 bars with ATT. The Bathrooms were spotless with 5 showers and 1 ADA Shower for a total of 6 showers in the men's room. I assume the girls room has the same. There was also a laundry room with 2 washers and 2 dryers only costs $1.00 for washer and $1.00 for dryer. We camped at Florence Marina State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Midway Campground - Big Cypress National Preserve, Ochopee, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is great central point to explore the Everglades. The campground has all back in sites, but is real easy to back in with lots of room in front of your campsite to maneuver your rv into the camp site. I usually dread back in sites, but this was a sinch to back in! Our site had a cement pad patio with a picnic table and a charcoal grill. As far as cell service we had 2 bars with Verizon and no service with ATT. There is a lake in the middle of the campground with the sites surrounding the lake. Make sure you bring everything you need with you since you are in the middle of the everglades and limited selection from a general store that is 20 miles away. There is only electric at each of the sites, and a dump station along with a fresh water station on site! We camped at Midway Campground - Big Cypress National Preserve in a Fifth Wheel.

Flamingo Campground (NPS Campground), Homestead, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We loved our stay at Flamingo Campground in the Everglades National Park. This campground would have gotten a 10 if they had water at the campsites, but they did have fresh water filling stations to fill your fresh water tanks. The sites are pull thru and level! The T Loop has electric hook up. The cell signal is excellent if you have ATT! If you have Verizon, you are out of luck. We arrived after hours and had no problem checking in. We drove past the entrance, and drove the 40 miles into the park to the campground. We found our name on the white board located in the rangers station's window. Our name was on the board with our site number. There is a general store located at the marina, not far from the campground and they have the basic supplies you might have forgotten to get. We are already planning our return visit for next year! We camped at Flamingo Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

DeSoto State Park, Fort Payne, Alabama

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Quiet little state park. We only stayed 1 night as we were trying to bypass Atlanta heading to Florida and coming from the Smokey Mountains TN. The sites had full hook up with cable TV. The sites were pull thru! Cell signal was good for both Verizon and ATT. The sites were spaced out enough with vegetation between sites to give you the privacy that we like. They were long enough that we did not need to disconnect. We will definitely stay here again when in the area. We camped at DeSoto State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg KOA, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $69.00
Overall Rating:

After evacuating Myrtle Beach because of Hurricane Florence, we ended up here in Pigeon Forge KOA. We were only able to stay for 2 nights because of a car show for the weekend and they were booked up. The campground is a typical KOA campground. Overpriced for what you get in my opinion. Our site was a back in that was tight to get into. We did have full hookup with cable tv. The pool was small and the hot tub was tiny. There are better campgrounds in Pigeon Forge, but if you need a place to stay that is close to everything this campgound will do. We camped at Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Ocean Lakes Family Campground, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

This is a HUGE RV Park! There are close to 900 campsites with hundereds of cabin and cottages available. The reason for camping here is to be close to Myrtle Beach. We were scheduled to stay for 5 nights. But thanks to Hurricane Florence we evacuated after 2 nights. We did get to go swimming in the pool and lazy river. That was an awesome amenity. Other than that we did not get a chance to do much else because of the evacuation orders. We will definitely be back. We camped at Ocean Lakes Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Orlando / Kissimmee KOA, Kissimmee, Florida

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $78.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in this KOA for the weekend while visiting Disney World. This campground is an easy drive to Disney, the route to Disney avoids the I-4 highway that is mostly a parking lot from time to time. The campground is very well maintained and clean. We were able to get all 4 bars of cell service from both ATT and Verizon so we did not have to rely on the campground's wifi. The best part of this campground is that the pool is open 23 hours a day. So when you get back from a long day at Disney, lets say after midnight, you can soak in the hot tub or swim in the heated pool. The restrooms were modern and clean. We definitely will be back. We camped at Orlando / Kissimmee KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Manatee Springs State Park, Chiefland, Florida

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

This state park is a gem! The park and campground are surrounded by lush forest crawling with wildlife. Deer romped thru the park. We also saw turtles, gators, but no Manatees. It was wrong time of the year for the Manatees. The springs were crystal clear and cold. Once you get used to the 72 degree water, the snorkeling was amazing. We stayed in the Magnolia loop that has full service. The restrooms were new and clean. The pull thru site was large enough for me to not have to unhook from our 34' 5th wheel, but we did so we could explore the park and the surrounding town. There is also a fire pit and picnic table at our campsite. The road in the campground was in need of some grading, lots of pot holes and tight turns. You just have to go slow and we had no problem navigating our 34' 5th wheel. We just took it real slow. Cell signal was poor at only 1 bar for both Verizon and ATT. Only phone calls and texts got thru. No DATA. If you travel the 2 miles to just outide of the park you get service. We got a handful of tv stations over the air. The park is about 6 miles from town with restaurants and grocery stores. We camped at Manatee Springs State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This state park is a bit pricier than most state parks but is well worth the price! Lots of amenities and activities to do. We only stayed one night but will definitely be back with our bicycles. We had a full hookup pull thru site. We did not have to unhook if we did not want to, but we did so we could do some exploring of the area. The restrooms were super nice and very clean. Lake Chicot State Park, Lake Village, Arkansas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 1 night as a stop over for our trip back to Florida from Utah. I got tired of the private campgrounds that were basically a parking lot. This state park is a few miles off of the highway down a 2 lane farm road. It was a nice drive to the park. We did not have reservations but we were able to grab the last pull thru campsite with full hook up. The campsite was level with lots of space between campsites. It was mostly an open grassy area between campsites. The restrooms were dated but clean. Very quiet night in the park. No cell service in the park with either ATT or Verizon. Very nice park that I wish we had more time to visit. We camped at Lake Chicot State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
