I love seeing new places and visiting old favorites, whether they be in or by forest, ocean, lake, or town. RV camping makes being outdoors revitalizing.

Peter D's RV Park, Sheridan, Wyoming

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean and well maintained facility. Bathrooms were spotless every time I went in. No trees but the fenced-in vegetable garden in the middle of the rv park added a sense of serenity. The office is a converted log cabin over 100 years old! AC masked any potential freeway noise. We camped at Peter D's RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Rainbow Falls Provincial Park, Rossport, Ontario

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Forested campground with sites mostly screened by trees and schrubs from adjacent near neighbors. Small beach with swimming area, paddle crafts for rent, along with picnic tables at Whitesand Lake. We camped at Rainbow Falls Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The Rainbow Falls Trail is listed as strenuous because of the series of steep stairsteps but the top of the falls are right at the top observation area before going down any stairs. This trail has a number of observation areas, some with benches. Continue on the hike to the end of the trail for a great view of Lake Superior and surrounding area. In nearby Schreiber, there is a Robin's Donuts/KFC-Pizza Hut afjacent to the Villa Bianca Inn.

Platte River Campground, Honor, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Pretty, wooded, clean campground. Ranger very helpful when phoned campground for info on site size details for our large trailer. Was lucky to find a campsite large enough to accommodate our 37' trailer, and still required careful manuevering to back it into site because of trees across the road. Trees and shrubbery provided some screening from neighbors. We camped at Platte River Campground in a Travel Trailer.

At the very least, visit the Philip A. Hart Visitors Center and take the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive for park highlights. The attached link provides outstanding tips.

Ponca State Park, Ponca, Nebraska

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Lovely tree shaded grounds up the hill in the upper park campsites. Each area had a playground. Lots of soft grass surrounding sites. Spacious and quiet park. Not very full in the Oak Bluffs sites the night we stayed. We had a pull through site with power and spigot very close by. Restroom and showers a three minute walk away. No views of the river from campground. Bring bug repellant. We camped at Ponca State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The Visitors Center is combined with a state outdoor and environmental education center that has informative and interactive displays good for all ages, hiking trails, and an overlook of the Missouri River. Bicycle paths. Have your out of state park permit with you if you printed it out at home or pay again if it's not in your possession.

Cedar Pass Campground (Concessionaire Operated), Badlands National Park, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Nice to have a campground inside the park. Very windy. Our site, 67, was supposed to accommodate our 37' travel trailer. However, as all the pull-through sites are essentially a pull-out scoop of the road, our trailer was dangerously close to passing traffic. The road finishes a turn here and the rear of our trailer was just inches from passing traffic. Thank goodness for the generosity of the family in front, who gave up several feet to allow us to pull forward. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Travel Trailer.

Be sure to view the visitors center, fossil trail, and the overlook just inside the entrance near northeast entrance. The Prarie Homestead Historical site just outside the park charges a fee but is a fair amount to see an historic sod home and prairie dogs up close.

Munising Tourist Park Campground, Munising, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Less than ten minutes drive to town as park was located on highway just outside Munising. Campground quiet after quiet hours, and dark. We reversed our drive into our pull-thru site so that we had somewhat of a view of the lake from trailer's rear window and did not hook up sewer hose. Three sliders not an issue. Call to get information on campsite length and width. Reservations recommended as it is a popular campground. We camped at Munising Tourist Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Pictured Rocks Cruise boats located at the one signal light, where you take a turn towards the marina and park in lot behind their building. The Munising Farmer's and Artisan Market takes place across the street from the cruise ticket office held every Tuesday, from 4-7pm. Try hearty pasties (hand held pies) from Muldoons, and charming Falling Rock Cafe and Coffee.

Silver Falls State Park, Sublimity, Oregon

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Our site 14 in B loop spacious, separated by shrubbery from neighbors, some tree shade. Dish washing spigot near, across the road from adjacent campsite. Lots of wooded, uneven but paved, walking paths that are used by families for bicycling trails. Nice playground for kiddos. Hot showers, included with camp fee, were a three minute walk away. Tent camping area shaded by mature trees but sites open, in sight of neighbors. Limited hours for sale of fire wood by friendly camp hosts. We camped at Silver Falls State Park in a Travel Trailer.

One of our pricier stops but for a site across the path from the sand of the beach, I'm not complaining! I made a request for a water view site and they accommodated as best they could. Historic Bandon and marina a great walking area, lots of local shops and eateries, including a great codfee shop and several bakeries. We usually have fresh fish and chips from the little blue shack and then walk across the street to Cranberry Sweets for desert. There's also the Face Rock Creamery for fresh cheese and local Oregon ice cream.

Stanton Park, Douglas County, Canyonville, Oregon

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Convenient as park is located right off I-5. We stayed in the older part near the day use area, from which there is a dirt trail down to the river. More sites are located down the hill, nearer to the river. The newer restroom building there was locked when we visited prior to Memorial Day. No view of Rogue River from the campground. We camped at Stanton Park, Douglas County in a Travel Trailer.

Seven Feathers Casino right up the road. We did not avail ourselves of the amenities except for their gas pumps. Gasoline prices were excellent, where large rvs had their own line, with the truckers, on the far left side for easy in and out.
