We have owned in Trails End ever since it opened (1979-80ish give or take). At that point they were owned by Sea Side Properties and was not run by a board of directors. I have to say when Sea Side was in control the place was run much better because they had properties to sell so of course in their best interest it was ideal to keep its appearance well kept and tidy.
The good- you can find various lots for sale. Some are abandoned with decrepit rv's, sheds, etc on them, some have houses on them, some are empty lots that you can do what you want with from scratch. Lots are not overpriced in here, you do pay annual dues and water but you OWN the lot. There is no lot rent here. Here you can buy a lot at a tax auction for as low as 2k, put an rv on it and boom there you have it. A cheap piece of property you can utilize for the purpose of vacationing as little or as much as you want all year long.
The bad- in past years mosquito control was better but this year it was awful. I wish it was legal to utilize straight lime as that will kill most bugs but unfortunately it's bad for pets. The board of directors was extremely chinzy and cheap in regards to this so the mosquitos and biting flies made it unbearable to be outdoors a whole lot this year. The maintenance crew did a fairly good job on keeping the bath houses clean and I was even happy to see my bath house redone after 40 plus years. I was truly amazed and didn't see that coming but thank you b.o.d for taking care of this, I guess better late then never. Considering this year some board members are out (thank you dear sweet baby Jesus) I will hold a positive and optimistic outlook. We camped at Chincoteague Bay Trails End Campground in a Travel Trailer.
For the proximity of being within Chincoteague/Assateague island and even Ocean City the value of your dollar goes far in here I must say. Let's be honest.. A 2 bedroom condo in OC, Fenwick, or even on Chincoteague island costs astronomically high.
